Why would the body burn muscles before its literal energy storage? That's like burning your tools to sustain a fire instead of the firewood you used the tools to collect.

Your body needs protein. Fat doesn’t have much protein. Don’t feed your body protein it will get it from somewhere else. That somewhere else is your muscles.

Minimum protein needed before your body starts eating itself for protein to maintain bodily functions is .36 grams per pound of body weight. Guy weighed 220 needs 80 grams a day.
Ate nothing lost 11.8 pounds. 11.8 pounds of human fat at 30 grams a pound works out to getting 50 grams a day from the fat. Human meat has around 70 grams of protein a lb. To account for the protein deficit of surviving for a week with no protein intake his body would need to consume around 3 lbs of muscle. So out of the 11.8 lbs lost around 2 total where muscle.

That's because you have no self control and cannot visualize long-term changes in your life. Your attention-deficient brain requires immediate gratification and transformation so that you can imagine yourself as being healthier than you actually are.
What you are saying is that you are unable to alter your gluttonous lifestyle, unwilling to alter your habits to become the epitome of what you could be and you are not going to make it.

But there is still hope Anon, I truly do believe that if you use a short-term fast to regain some semblance of control over your hunger and construct a several month long plan to slowly but surely improve improve your health and image that you can make it, and you will not be fat any longer. I believe that you can find that self-discipline within you, even if you are without it currently.

Not him, but I personally lost 80 pounds by 24-48 hour fasting on weekends and OMAD during the week. Never developed an eating disorder because I'm not a moron.

This. Fasting is tougher mentally than physically, assuming you're not already incredibly lean. The main reason people come here to complain about fasting being gay/stupid/dyel is that they can't deal with the mental strain it takes on you. You HAVE to find a way to keep your mind busy while you're fasting or you're ngmi.

I'm presuming he had full medical supervision, right? This act has been preformed hundreds of times, usually on the morbidly obese as a last-ditch effort to induce weightloss.
The main reason people don't do it is because it's dangerous and without proper hydration and nutrient supplementation you can die.

Water fasting cuts weight in the short term, but it doesn't set you up for long term success. Most fasters relapse into their old eating habits and gain the weight back with interest. It's hard on your body, it ratchets up your stress, tanks your mood, and leads to a "melting candle" skinny fat look.

Head over to the /fast/ general and you will see a lot of people who are losing and gaining the same ten pounds over and over again.

I don't want to shit on something if it works for you, but a slow, disciplined cut on a deficit with tons of lifting, sleep and some cardio is the gold standard for a reason. It is a better key to lifelong health.

Because the diet industry is based around SELLING YOU STUFF (foods, programs, etc).
There's no money to be made in just telling people to be disciplined enough to stop stuffing calories down their gullets, and 99% of people are too weak-willed and feeble-minded to even attempt it, or last for more than 12 hours on such a regiment, so instead they PAY someone else to do all the thinking and "work" for them. Which is also a convenient excuse and reason why they fail. "My own weakness is why I can't lose weight? Nah, this jerk just sold me a crappy program that doesn't work!" and onto the next snake oil salesman offering a magic pill or solution that doesn't involve discomfort.

It literally is, zoomer moron. And everyone knows there's one huge problem with doing that... rebound.

I've been working privately as a sports nutritionist with athletes and 45 year old sexually repressed moms for the past 2 years.

      simply is the answer

Not only is it hard for fatties to adapt their sugar needs to such a protocol for them to actually last in this attempt, but there's also literally no point to it.
Your weight, without external motivation (includes people telling you to lose weight), will sometimes, or most of the time, dictate your calorie intake. The body does not like change, simply put.

Someone of that weight will simply jump back up, or even further beyond to catch up on the calories, as their body thought they were starving, and will quickly pack on the same fat (or even more) to protect itself.

We were not designed for food abundance.

        >follow a strict diet which is at or above maintenance (to prevent rebound)
        >you'll gain some weight back but if it stops binge eating then it wont be much
        >go to the gym and gain the muscle back while tweaking the diet

You have a loser mentality. I haven't been on a date in 4 years, and my parents are dead. If you want to make your life better, if you want to make yourself better, guess what, you have to make decisions that do so. The man isn't forcing you to play video games, slam 4L of soda and eat at McDonald's every night. Push-ups don't cost money, not buying mountain dew and mcdonalds will actually save you money, and if you have the ability to whine on IST, you have access to the internet and literally millions of ways to educate and train yourself on any topic you could imagine, largely for free. You're bored, fat, and poor because you're a loser. Even if there was no discrimination you'd just find something else to blame.

The only mentality I have is outcome independance, buddy. I haven't been on a date in my entire life, and I don't care if my parents are alive or dead because I don't love them and I don't owe them anything. I exercise, I even run thirty minutes in the morning. Once I get back to college I'll have access to weights and a swimming pool again. I'm really not your enemy and I have nothing against you, there are just no sources of dopamine in my life because of my height and face, so I begrudgingly have a cheat day when I feel like it.

You know what a loser is? Someone who has lost. I lost. I got over it. Are you ready to get over the fact that there are winners and losers of the genetic lottery? Or are you going to keep delusionally working towards your contrived "win"? You think you're going to "make it"? That's called a participation trophy. I'm not stopping you though.

Because most of the time people gain more back than they lost and develop actual eating disorders. If you can stop eating without this, then good for you. But its just not a reliable way to actually lose the weight permanently.
