I can actually give a good answer to this.
On my way to getting a 40 inch vert, I (ignorantly and blindly) did kneesovertoesguy's program, not knowing he was a scientologist, snake oil seller, scam artist who knows nothing about strength and conditioning.

This gave me crippling patello femoral tendinopathy ( couldnt bend knees for 2 months ).
In trying to fix it, i bought that brand of collagen and another.
Unfortunately all it does is make your nails grow faster and doesn't fix tendon pain *by itself*.

I fixed my pain and im at 37 inches now ( 22" start, did it in 10 months) and the way you do it is isometrics, isotonics, slow strength, powerful activity.

Its more complicated than this but there you go.
Collagen could be useful paired with this protocol.
It is used with athletes. Drink it with 50 mg of vitamin c before a short "tendon session" ( no more than 10 minutes, after that you start to degrade). The collagen has to have also type 2 not just type 1 iirc.

This man knows what's up. Make sure to get type 2 collagen if you want good joints. Most brands only contain type 1 and 3, which is mainly for skin/hair/nails.
Also, the actual amount of type 2 needed for positive effects is much less than the other types. I take about 50mg of type 2 and 25 grams of type 1/3 daily.

Fish is type I and type II collagen, Bonvine type I and III. Absobation of fish collagen is also far better than bovine, always get hydrolyzed collagen.
        Type I = essential
Type II = good for cartilages
        Type III = fibroblasts

I'm not too sure about this, the only link I can find has type 2 as bovine (https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingredientmono-714/collagen-type-ii-native)
The only shit Icve ever tried was Great Lakes hydrolyzed.collagen, which is bovine, and it sure seemed to.help my joints

I think this is a marketing meme to upsell their products.
Add a "rare type II" collagen label and sell product for +50%.

People making gelatin broth from bones don't know or care what the frick these type I,II, III things are, but they still get great results.

I have done vert code elite but it's too light after the 3rd month.
I did vertical jump protocol, its good but triphasic is better.
There is so much shit i could tell you.

When I hit my goal, i'll write a blog/article on the quickest way to get athletic while avoiding injury. Still learning rn

I take 10g of the lemon flavor a day which has vit C in it to help absorption

I had tendinitis in my elbows from weighted pull ups that was barely improving for about six months. Two weeks of supplementing collagen daily, and it is completely gone. My way to pull ups are now the strongest they’ve ever been. Can’t recommend this enough and I’ve recommended it to several other people already.

make sure to pair collagen powder it with 2g of ascorbic acid powder (raw vitamin c)
vit c plays a vital role in boosting the natural collagen production of your body
no, vit c doesn't affect the absorption of supplemented collagen, it just makes your body produce more on its own instead
so in the end you're still double dipping collagen gains by megadosing vit c anyway

Do help with ligament healing, you want to stack:
    >10g collagen
    >10g glutamin
    >a chunk of vit c, can't overdose anyway
    >10-50mg of vit B6
    >1.5g glucosamin
    >0.8g chondroitin

You'd probably get excellent results just with the collagen, but up the intake to 30-50g a day.
Or a total intake of several pounds (3-10lb) of collagen per year.
The amount of vitamin C needed for collagen optimization is very small, so just a glass of OJ is enough.

Source: Healed a knee injury with 2lb of collagen. And have had more healing effects from collagen over the years.

Interesting input. For how long did you do the 30-50g thing? Until the 2lb ran out?

          Anonymous

Yep basically just went through a 2lb can of collagen, and then a few months later did it again.
I do this a couple times a year now and always notice general improvements in skin and joint health.

There is a "potentially contains LEAD" label on this. In researching why, it turns out most bovine collagen sourced in the USA comes from the goyslop commercial cattle farms where there is significant toxic and heavy metal pollution and it accumulates in the cows' bone and ligament tissue to a degree where samples of collagen actually test positive for lead, arsenic, cadmium etc.
You can test your own batches with those cheap paper kits.

Whey powder very often tests positive for all sorts of toxic heavy metals too, so it's par for the course.

The truenutrition protein blend I drink is 90% whey isolate and 10% beef collagen. I think it's a cheaper way to make sure you're getting what you need for joint health.

I got some of these containers for free to try out over a month or so, and had another month's supply so been mixing it with my coffee almost every morning for about 4 months now along with taking a multivitamin to get vit C for synthesizing collagen, and I can't say I've really noticed any results. Maybe they're subtle idk, but as far as I can tell it does little. Don't have acne at least

When you ingest that shit it will be broken down into the smallest possible amino acids and then restructured to whatever your body needs. Beyond useless product. If your body needs collagen you're more likely producing it from that Double Egg McMuffin sandwich you ate at McDonald's this morning.

glycine, lysine, and a couple other amino acids iirc are mostly found in collagen (or connective tissue obviously) and very little in other proteins

        Anonymous

Only a problem all the protein you literally eat is Whey. If you eat lean meats you'll get ALL micronutriens you'll ever need. Collagen is a buzzword product.

          Anonymous

          >>the most abundant amino acid in most protein
          that would be glutamine

The benefit of gelatin/collagen is that it is deficient in the pro-inflammatory, anti-metabolic amino acids methionine, cysteine, tryptophan and histidine while being very abundant in the anti-inflammatory, pro-metabolic amino acids glycine and proline.

Methionine accumulating in tissues with age is known to be one of the major predictors of aging. Glycine helps to body to excrete excess methionine.
Supplementing gelatin is basically the only realistic way to fix this protein optimization issue, other than an extremely restrictive vegan diets of b-e-a-n-s, but even if you only ate beans, that still wouldn't be as effective as just supplementing gelatin (in the right doseage).

Tons of people have reported healing joint pains and inflammatory skin diseases with gelatin supplementation.

Megadosing glycine (collagen) is good for you long term
Megadosing tryptophan (whey) is bad for you long term
You get enough tryptophan from diet, the same doesn't happen with glycine
In short, whey is toxic waste

  23. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

Just gets broken down in aminos and then absorbed. Just an expensive protein powder. You aren't going to be deficient enough in protein to get benefits from it. All the studies showing benefits purposely picked populations low in protein (young women) to show effects

Not collagen, but after taking a gram of vitamin c (used in synthesis of collagen) daily for a month or two the tendonitis I had in both elbows for the past couple years has gotten 90% better.
