You could always just not use PEDs. You can easily get to P1/P2 natty. Probably even on a low tier pro team, you just simply won't win any race.

Just now starting to get into it

Loving the community aspect. Easy to find group rides in your city, good to make friends / be social while working out. Also good networking since it’s an affluent sport. Also great exercise that you can do literally into your 70s. 50 mile rides with brewery or winery stops are awesome.

The exploration aspect can’t be beat. There are paths youll take on a bike that you’ve driven before but never truly appreciate since it’s an entirely new perspective. Very rarely do I get that feeling in awe of my countryside surroundings. It’s nice to be able to go outside a bit too since gym is indoors

Also have adopted biking to commute to work, run small errands, grocery store, etc. it’s fun to go over a week without using your car, knock cardio out commuting, turns a soul sucking commute into a fun activity, and saves a ton of money

waiting until spring to upgrade my plebe commuter bike. When you see nice road bikes (looking at Specialized and Bianchi currently but have no idea what I’m doing) it’s like a piece of art. THAT said big con is it works out just a small handful of specific unaesthetic muscles, so still not something that replaces lifting.

But so far 10/10 open to any help as I’m still a noob

Great answer. Cycling is the best form of cardio. Not heavy on joints, won't be boring, will see new places you would otherwise not see, etc.
Minus side is it can be quite expensive if you get into it.

I can recommend some resources for bikes if you need.

I prefer running over it for exercise, but I fricking wish I could cycle for my daily commute instead of driving. My area simply does not support it to any extent.

It makes poor, fat and the big nosed seethe.
Remember to check your bike fit and posture for pain-free seethe inducement.

Sad to hear you can't ride for your commute (the best part about cycling)

It’s my favorite cardio, would highly recommend. Way comfier than running in my opinion. I live in the sticks now so I don’t really do it anymore unfortunately

It's fairly Black personproof so it's acceptable. Swimming is superior

Patrician form of exercise, especially biking to your destinations instead of driving.

Depends a lot on where you live though. I really hate biking on roads but thankfully my city has some of the best bike infrastructure in the country so I can get basically anywhere in the metro area without even touching a road.

Mountain Biking + Casual evening rides are kino

Everything else is cringe. Gear-gayging is huge in the cycling community

If you live in a liberal coastal city, your bike's going to be stolen if you try locking it up outside. Actually non-viable as transporation.

It's great for getting downtown to meet your friends for a night out. Don't have to pay for or deal with ubers and it's fun exercise when you're hammered. Plus it makes it easy to drink a ton of water, so helps you not be hung over

I wish my country spent more on cycling infrastructure to make it feasible for more people to commute to work on their bike.
As a sport, I can appreciate the insane limits to which pro riders push themselves and the pace they keep up on the tour is baffling really but as far as aesthetics go it's one of the worst sports to go all in on. I mean full blown world class athletes with less upper body mass and strength than a 15 year old. Yeah it's crazy that they can blast up mountains faster than most people can sprint on a bike, but looking like you're fresh out of auschwitz is no good.
As for cardio, I prefer running. Easier to get a good workout.

    I don't ride, but I have and it's a lot of fun.

As a competitive sport, hands down the best one out there to watch. 90% is boring as frick, but when it delivers, there's nothing like it.

    I hate riding the roads.
    >You are breathing heavier than usual
    >Breath in even more exhaust shit
I saw there are some masks for cyclists. Do they work?

It's pretty cool until you start paying $1000 per 100 grams of bike lightening and pushing lightyears past the point of diminishing returns until you're on $15,000 bike with 60kg of bodyweight just to be 2 seconds faster over 200km.

I commute to work 10kms everyday and on sundays lycragay 35kms, all of the above on pretty cheap road bicycle. Aero is key. When you start cycling raise the seat as high as you can without needing to rock your hips from side to side. Also your leg should be almost straight but have a slight bend and the bottom of the stroke. Lowering handlebars lets you get much more aero

i barely leave the house without a bike. commuting, shopping, going to hang out with friends, going for spirited rides, bikepacking, whatever

there is a lot more to cycling than ultralight carbon lycrafreds and big jumps downhill youtube gopro rollercoaster shit

    IMO it’s the ultimate loop

When you drive a shit car you’re jealous of the BMWs, Mercedes, Jeep’s, etc

But when you bike you laugh at those soft bodied Americans driving their $50,000 tanks to go somewhere a mile away.

You realize it’s peak enlightenment form of transportation
