Requires a deceptively high level of flexibility, most people who have never practiced yoga, gymnastics, ballet or other things that also require flexibility will struggle with that the most.
I think many recreational gym-goers could benefit from doing some weightlifting.

I grew up doing gymnastics when I was in grade school. Idk why my folks sent me to do it (it is sort of weird actually) but it paid huge dividends later on when I started playing football and wrestling in middle school and high school.

We started having daily workouts in the weight room in 6th grade for football, and the flexibility never really helped with weights per se but it did make you much less likely to get injuries. Especially on the football field- good flexibility helps you avoid like 50% of injuries, pulled muscles, strains, etc.

Interestingly, of the kids who were 2+ year starters in high school football, about four of them were in gymnastics with me. Probably coincidence but pretty low odds of that considering how few boys did gymnastics when they were younger.

looks pretty fricking cool...I don't even know why since the movement itself isn't all that impressive. Though when combined very heavy weight, the lift seems like a very impressive feat of coordination, strength, and snappiness in a split second.

looks frickin cool. you'll be very athletic if you get past the filter of injuries. a 315lb snatch is way more impressive than a 700lb deadlift. maybe any deadlift. beyond a certain point, deadlifts are just for 400lb bloatmaxed powerlifters and strongmen. no doubt strong, just very grotesque

I've been doing it since 2016, many ups and downs but mostly positive. Highest i've gone is 3rd at nationals @ 73kg bw. 26 athletes in that category

Any advice for beginners/intermediate weightlifters ?

Start doing the lifts, progress linearly like a normal novice program, start varying intensity and volume just like you would for powerlifting. There's a tendency to overcomplicate among weightlifter, but unless you're competing keep it simple.

          Thank you!
What approach would you recommend when stalling during the linear progression? More volume (speaking of, what is considered volume for weightlifting? 10 reps? Multiple reps over multiple sets?)

Honestly man the best thing you can do is join a club/team and get a coach. Self teaching sucks and is way way harder & slower than being taught it. Also training in a team environment allows you to watch experienced lifters train which is very very helpful to for learning the movements.
It's hard enough to weightlift well when you don't have to be your own coach at the same time

Well I’m shit out of luck for that, the only weightlifting club that’s relatively close to me is 50km away, and I don’t have a car since I’m europoor. I’ll stick to hanging with the 2 guys with a 200+ total in my gym getting some advice from them.

There's lots of online coaching available. It's not as good as in person of course but it's a lot better than doing it yourself.

Don't neglect heavy pulls. I did in the beginning, once I started to take them seriously my clean and snatch went up immediately.

I did Texas Method for years and switched over recently. Definitely lost some muscle mass but it's way more enjoyable.

Oly lifting is more fun than Powerlifting or bodybuilding, carries over better to sports, and requires much more coordination, balance, and mobility, which are all more conducive to long term health.
    Olympic lifting is better.

Weightlifting is for immigrants, women, and dyel redditors. That is 99.9999% of the demographic that wastes their time with this shit. If you have been training your whole life, are furiously strong, and genetically gifted, then sure. Go compete at weightlifting. If you feel the need to go to LA fitness and snatch 155 lbs singles for 90 minutes, kill your fricking self

Weightlifting is fricking cool, but has incredibly high potential to be ruined by dyel homosexuals and crossfitters.
