>Greg Doucette
Started out pretty good, giving simple, practical advice because you don't need to get into technical research lit if you're a beginner, you just have to "go harder than last time." Called out bullshit. However, he seemed overly hostile to other people who do like getting into the technical science shit. Spent too much time on drama, but admitted he did that for views to draw people to his more informative videos. Over time, he became the very kind of money-grubbing, misinfo-spreading shill he hates, shilling shitty products and giving bad advice.
>Athlean X
I'd trust him when it comes to prehab/rehab anatomy shit. Not when it comes to strength or hypertrophy. Releases new stupid workouts just for the sake of putting out content. There's no reason to have 15 "ultimate ab routine" workout videos. Also, fake weights.
>Jeremy Ethier
Doesn't even have that good of a physique. He's just lean. A mix of good science-based info and overgeneralizing from some single underpowered PubMed study for the sake of putting out content and looking smart.
>Mike Israetel
Actually understands the science he cites and how applicable it is. However, most of us probably don't really need to watch a 20-minute video about which bicep curl produces slightly more hypertrophy than the rest. He knows what he's talking about, but it's kinda in the weeds and maybe only people actually competing should care.
>Scott Herman
I do not for a second believe that is his real accent. However, he does good exercise demos. A lot of his later content became picking on people who give dumb advice on TikTok because that's easy to do, but hey, you can only do so many videos on exercise form. Also, he has a great physique that looks most like what a normal person would aspire to, because most people don't want to look like Doucette or Israetel.

Nothing Ever Happens Shirt $21.68 |
>Jeff Nippard
He's got the personality of oatmeal and always fails when he tries to be funny, but his info is pretty good. Not as deep as Israetel, but he has a much better claim to being "science-based" than Ethier.
>AlphaDestiny
I don't remember what his content is actually like. I just remember he has funny mannerisms and speech that make him seem genuine and likeable.
>RevivalFitness
Did a much needed dressing down of Doucette, but I don't get why he thinks consistently going close to failure is dumb ego lifting. If you've got the safety measures to do it, it's a great way to progress.
>Buff Dudes
Pretty good for form checks
The only two channels that matter as far as I’m concerned. Scott Herman is good too but I can’t take him seriously when he looks and sounds like the douchebag boyfriend from Scary Movie.
>Buff Dudes
>Alan thrall
Forgot about these guys. Yeah, I like them. Thrall has that one video about how "imbalances"/asymmetrical strength isn't that bad, which sounds obvious after he says it.
Because I'm not interested in gear or which celebrities/bodybuilders are natural, a lot of his content doesn't interest me. But he has some interesting videos on other topics.
Greg also deleted the good recipe videos to shill his shitty cookbook.
Buff dudes are genuinely good dudes. Idk about Brandon, he is iffy but Hudson is natty. I think the buff dudes are starting to fall off the algorithm but I always enjoyed their content and it motivates me.
Will Tenny is good but it seems all he can do are long form tiktok challenges on YT. His one Video about the punching is funny cause any fan that walks up and mentions it looks like they've never lifted a weight before leading me to believe any fitness YouTuber fan is a dyel or doesn't even lift. (I'd put myself in dyel category)
>RevivalFitness
Hate this cuck.
>RevivalFitness
The only one I'd actually believe to be a true incel/gymcel
He has such a shitty personality, not shitty in the way of Greg Doucette, but actual shitty IST tier personality
> Alan thrall
Distills down the good parts of starting strength into non autistic videos. Natty, outlifts ripplebreasts, and recently got fricking shredded
Great channel, can tell he's an earnest guy
I like that dude jonny shreve
he cucks for his friend Greg doucette.
I dont care. I like his videos and i am going to keep watching them anon.
All you need to get shredded is Blahino, Janoy Cresva, and old Pianoman clips.
don't forget Jason Genova
>I'd trust him when it comes to prehab/rehab anatomy shit.
and that is where you shouldn't trust him. Because that is where he is the most wrong and does the most damage.
Where is he wrong? He gives pretty solid no-nonsense advice
>Jujimufu
Had a great run from 2018 through 2021, then put his humorless fat sow of a wife behind the camera and it all went to shit. He wouldn't have had such a massive view count drop off if I was still editing the videos.
Tom pls
>greg douchette
pathological liar (lies about prior steroid use, conviction, TRT amount), scammer (turkesterone), so use to being on gear his cookbook consists of low fat foods that will ruin a natural's HPTA and gives hilariously bad advice about how to gain muscle
>athlean x
don't watch but another pathological liar (fake weights, juicer but claims natty.)
>jeremy ethier
never watched
>mike israetel
pathological liar (claims difference between maximum natty strength and steroids is only about 10%), slave to scientific literature
>scott herman
never watched
>jeff nippard
another fake natty but doesn't lie quite as pathologically
>alphadestiny
never watched
>revivalfitness
like anon said, said everything that needed to be said about greg. i think something is wrong with him or something though. his demographic is clearly natural people but he always does this "fear of needles" shit (projection?) always came off kind of weird to me. says you can grow into abs lol
>alan thrall
down to earth, good content
>moreplatesmoredates
knew derrick from GLL before he blew up. advocates super low doses to shut down your testes for no reason, slave to scientific literature (with some exclusions like advocating higher protein ingestion for gear users,) uses fancy words for no reason. alright for some aspects of cycle design
>geoffrey verity
he's alright, content is a bit milquetoast but good for natural lifters. absolutely TERRIBLE takes on calorie counting though.
There is nothing revolutionary, new, or exotic that any fitness "personality" can provide you. They're there for entertainment, and once they find their niche they're going to have to pander hard (if they want to stay in business). They're more actors than actual gurus. Online "friends" for lonely people.
Geoffrey Verity Schoefield. Agree with most all of your assessment btw
underrated
Also he actually responds, I've talked to him a few times
He has just the right amount of energy for all his stuff, isn't turning red and screaming like doucette nor monotonous as frick like jeff nippard. Has the most practical advice.
I don't know why but that dude pisses me off. Just don't like his face of his attitude. Also he is going to hop on steroids later lol
This and I would also add
>jeff
>natural hypertrophy
>bald omni man
>YouTube Fitness Personalities?
>Barbell Medicine (Austin Baraki & Jordan Feigenbaum)
Both medical doctors who stay up to date on current medical research. Lots of good info on training, nutrition and rehab, as well as how to approach them as you age. Possibly fake natties but they've both been training hard for 10+ years so it's hard to say.
>get the jab goy
>seed oils good for you goy
>saturated fat and cholesterol should be limited goy
>don't work too hard goy
>stay lean and spin your wheels goy
>I don't take steroids goy
>TRT does nothing in terms of muscle gains goy
SUCK MY BIG UNCIRCUMCISED wiener YOU FRICKING RAT
His traps are insane, wtf
The best fitness influencers in no order, mainly because they aren't spewing bad advice, and call out bullshit in the industry like "muh test boost" etc.
>Sean nalewanyj
>Alan Thrall
>Layne Norton aka Biolayne
For me it’s the Buff Dudes and Dan John. I usually play something when working out but that’s about it.
I like him.
elough eutub
I liked how he made Revival sit the frick down. That guy needs a dose of reality.
Interesting ideas both on training/programming and other topics. I find myself often pausing his videos to reflect on my own thoughts on the topic, even written a few pages about some of the videos
>I like him.
Well he is one of us after all.
I dislike him but I like his videos and goals and spreading natural hypertrophy
Nobody alive is worth listening to. The only way to get worthwhile advice and ideas is from dead people because their words have withstood the test of time.

>The Bioneer
>greg doucette
I agree with your assessment, but I do love watching him yell at fat people's bullshit. Roided out manlet shouting at fat people. Its great. He gives himself an aneurysm so I don't have to reading fat people talk about how they're "eating less" or "dieted" but it "didn't work" etc.
They all suck.
>but what about...
He sucks too. They're not experts. The best channels are the ones with like 10k subs max who are trying to figure it out just like everyone else. The "experts" are all bullshit artists.
The one that i always enjoyed was Mountaingod.
Never hid his gear use, never got into drama, his advice was incredibly simple and he always tried to make sure that exercise he recommends were possible to do in any gym. Such a shame, man...
Mountaindog I assume you mean? Yes I agree, he was based. I enjoyed his videos with Dave Tate.
mike israel is ok but has gotten into clickbait shit and his videos suck now. also clearly him and his crew are in a rut and arent doing anything interesting. tell charly to go back to making leather jackets.
right now i only watch NH and bald omni man. GVS from time to time. Israetel sometimes if there's something interesting i hadn't heard before.
I used to be on Athlean X's channel all the fricking time back in like 2013-2015. Man, how things change.

kino list but cut down on youtube brother. these are too many channels to follow
>Bald Omni Man
Everyone always has high praise for him, but he seems like a grifter.
good post
top tier list based anon. i cant stand greg's squeaky voice
>Vitruvian Physique
I don't follow them at all.
If I have time to wind down with YouTube I'll usually watch ABC News stuff - just finished watching the latest Media Watch.
When it comes to fitness I just google what I need to know and don't care who tells me. I get the impression these cults of personality are why IST (and the internet more broadly) is so schizophrenic.
>Jeff Nippard
I don't understand how most people see him as being more trustworthy than other fit toobers.
He's not just a fake natty, his whole persona is painfully fake. Also, Stephanie Buttermore is just Jeff Nippard for girls and equally as fake.
>Alpha Destiny
A real bro, maybe gay.
>Mountaindog1
Best fit toober is literally a dead man.
>Greg Doucette
Was okay for a bit, 90% of his videos are of just him watching another video and summarizing it's content.

Jeff doesn't look strong and hypertrophic to you?
as one of the rare IST posters with an education in this field, he's really one of the only people you should be listening to. he repeats his videos because it's an enterprise that makes money. every single one of these people does this.
fake
weights
literally meaningless. used for demonstration so he doesn't tire himself out and cause injury when making a video, completely pointlessly. if you can't look past bravado to logic, well, that's why i have a degree in this stuff and you don't have a degree.
jeff's advice is good and jeff's physique looks fricking amazing. of course he's on T
Jeffbros seethe
>feeling the need to point out you have a degree twice in two posts completely unsolicited
I feel the need to point it out because this is a board full of meathead young idiots who believe stupid shit they read online and then repeat it to each other ad infinitum.
If you know anything about the reality of the fitness world, for the past infinite number of years, you know this has never changed, and hence you recognize the value of people who ACTUALLY know what the frick they're talking about.
I have the CREDENTIALS to tell you that Jeff is the most meaningful person you can listen to in general. So LISTEN to someone who KNOWS for once in your LIFE zoomiezoom. :))
Should I do the bosu ball balancing act he preached back on the functional days?
Or maybe the curl your own leg for massive 'ceps?
Or maybe I should exhale the air our of my lungs while squatting?

hows that huge deadlift total making your body look
like total shit compared to a 45 year old guy right? 🙂
A 45 year old guy who you claim is on drugs
My legs are bigger than his btw
>bigger
and you still look like shit because you do powerlifting compound exercises and eschew brosplits.
fitness isn't about having high totals. that's completely and totally outside the realm of consideration, desire, or interest for 99% of people. sorry bro, your fetishism just isn't applicable to most of life.
Lmfao dis homie is chudhurt because I insulted his e-daddy who he knows lies but sucks his dick anyway, so pathetic
You're also ultra fixated on making fun of his deadlift, you're probably very insecure about yours
p.s. i think deadlifts are relatively useless and i don't really do them; ur just angry and need something to latch onto
I don't do deadlifts as I have a patellar tendon tear.

Probably dude, you sound fat as shit. Why don't you post them so we can see how big you really are?
Why else would you assume he used sarms other than a photo moron
Also calm the frick down homosexual
oh holy shit i didn't even look at the pic this is what you're bragging so much over? aaaaaaahahahahha jesus no wonder you write like a little child
your legs are fricking tiny lmao
Say, fellas, how tall you reckon one of them white blocks making up the wall is?
That is a garage door dumbass
hmm so one should be approx 21 inches tall
and hes 3 on tippy toes
YIKES.
HAHAHAHAHHA HOH NO
OH NO NO NO NO
Garage door heights are fairly standardised at 8 ft tall and typically subdivided into 4 segments.
That would made 3 tall 6 feet but he's obviously on tiptoes so probably 5'9-5'-10
>my legs are bigger than his
>also 20% BF
I'm like 18
Nice traps. That separation between the traps and the rest is nice. Makes em look fricking huge. Train them more and trapmax
thanks anon, i think i might start training them several times a week because i dont really deadlift right now and it shouldn't take too long. might also consider directly training neck lol
Yes because people who want to build actual muscle aren't afraid to lose their abs lol
Or you could lift hard for 25 years and take trt to get the same progress as a natty with a few cut/bulk cycles under their belt because greg israeliteshitte told you to maingain
ok fatty
>No body posted
DYEL
he's right
upper teen's bf% is only gross if you have no muscle. in fact you actually look BETTER in clothes.
this will depend on genetics but so long as you can see a bicep vein youre fine imo
You need to be a DYEL to take Athlean X seriously, it's a necessary condition
holy cope
He's only 45 (actually 47)? I thought he was mid-later 50's, holy shit.
he stays way too lean, he'd look younger and less alien-like with just a bit more fat on him
Post body
>used for demonstration so he doesn't tire himself out and cause injury when making a video
Why don'y you just put less weight on the bar, Jeff?
Because then idiots like you will call him weak
>Jeff doesn't look strong and hypertrophic to you?
No
He has to use fake weights for everything to put up respectable numbers and also shrimp backed and screamed picking up 405 lmao
>i have a degree

Or better yet, post your degree with nothing censored

how does IST feel about joe fazer
in shape. Good. Keep it up
fitness is solved for the average person. no point in watching so many youtube channels
I've watched hundreds of hours of yt fitness as far back as 2015 and agree. But people still frick it up and its good to know the back theory to stuff
>Actually understands the science he cites and how applicable it is
No he doesn't, this moronic dwarf was pushing 50 sets a body part at one point with hilarious meme studies he was involved in
He also refuses to look at the meta analysis of frequency studies post the 2017 one he loves so much, since the current science says one session a week is the same as 3 sessions with zero difference in results
it's far easier to get people to exercise a few times a week for less time rather than one giant long session. It's also much easier on the joints. A 12 week study is definitely not going to pick up the wear and tear that happens on the joints over the course of years of doing infrequent but very intense workouts.
There are giant limitations with controlled studies, and when you have clients in the real world, things are much different.
I would say fitness content on YouTube can be categorised in two different ways, Entertainment and informative videos.
For entertainment, It doesn't have to be a skit or humour, you're just watching it for fun. Like natty or not vids are entertainment, drama videos are (shit) entertainment etc, vlogs and stuff, and ranting about shitty tik toks or whatever are aswell.
I will only be giving thoughs on informative youtubers.
>mike israetel
actually good. Best programming (for hypertrophy) by a lot. He has good knowledge in the labs and in the trenches considering he programs and trains actually big people. Alot of technical details if you care for that are good, that being said, i've never really applied them so obviously. Also he is well articulated and a good communicator.
>Athlean x
Garbage advice, garbage programming, even his rehab shit is only sometimes usefull. literall 0/10 charlatan. His physical therapy bias is so huge, he has to fearmonger to justify his overengineered programming. If every one of his views happened to find and read starting strength then the average gym goer would be a much less bigger homosexual.
>Jeff Nippard
some useful advice, though overengeneers programing. Out of all the "science based training" people, mike israetel is the best by a lot. That being said jeff nippard also happens to be an insufferable homosexual. 3/10. really this also goes for Jeremy ethier
>Garbage advice, garbage programming, even his rehab shit is only sometimes usefull. literall 0/10 charlatan. >Enkiri
good, has a nice niche and has dismantled athleanx shit content.
>Starting strength the book
The programming is too much lower body. That being said, 90% of people just binge watch fitness content (athlean x and jeff nippart primarilly) and think they're learning alot about fitness, analogously its like clicking random page of wiki, reading it, repeat and thinking you're leaning. The book starting strength has a complete and deliberate way of communicating 90% of what beginners need to learn while being a decent read aswell. It actually teaches you how to do exercises. No bull shit, no overengineering.
I personally did SS with less lower body volume and more upper body volume when I first started working out properly (Before then I was following shit advice from athlean x, with my own garbage overengineered programming, actual waste of my time). Also I did behind the neck presses rather then regular presses, because I like them more.
>rippetoe himself
Dogmatic, but his dogmatism is still 1000% better then the moronation on youtube. more or less his podcasts are less about fitness , just him talking about the vaccine or whatever.
also im sub 11% bodyfat if anyone is wondering.
as someone with shoulder impingement / spondye-girlsthesis grade 2 l5-s1 / a hip labral tear I'll say that jeff's advice is the best for reducing and improving injuries, and my physical therapists over the last 10 years that I've had these issues have been impressed with my knowledge on rehabbing my body and utilizing exercises that are much safer yet still build muscle.
Once you grow up and start accruing injuries / recovery starts to tank, you'll start to find this type of advice much more useful.
Dr Shawn Baker
I only check whats posted here for the memes/lolcowism.

Cole has been good in the past but he's been contradicting himself too much lately. He'll say one thing is the best thing ever and then a few weeks later he'll turn around 180 degrees and say the opposite. He was more consistent years ago.
>Isratel
Yes he is the GOAT for technique advice. However, he is a fricking moron about steroids. His basic piece of advice is, if you use, use orals only. This is terrible advice because it is very clear by now that a testosterone base should be the foundation of 99% of cycles. Orals will frick your liver and crash your testosterone without a test base.
>His basic piece of advice is, if you use, use orals only.
No, he says use it for one, short cycle, before you should start injecting. You do this to test the waters without putting yourself at to much risk.
aren't orals worse for your liver with no real benefit over injecting?
Yes, which is why he tells you to do it for one, short cycle and decide if you want to inject long-term.
Logic is that orals are easier to come off if you have a bad experience and your natural test production restarts quicker.
He is aware that it's dogshit for your liver over any longer timeframe and tells you as much.
jesus fricking christ what are actually decent programs then...
> SL and SS too much lower not enough volume
> RP too much volume not enough intensity
Keyboard lifters always find something to criticize. Didn't read btw.
See
. You'd really enjoy the High Evolutionary program.
SL and SS are great for complete beginners. relatively tiny time commitment since your untrained body is so sensative to training, and you increase your lifts every single session by 5lb each. If you either don't lift consistently on a good program with some sort of progressive overload, or even if you just haven't lifted for 6+ weeks, SL or SS or some sort of program with linear progression is a good idea. after you're no longer progressing on SL or SS, DON'T just keep deloading and continue that program. It's time for a higher volume intermediate program.
n-suns (yes unironically) worked great for me, though it takes an ungodly amount of time every day. Don't remember the exact starting numbers but I ended up benching 3pl8, pulling 5pl8, and squatting 345x3 after adding 5lb nearly every week for 6ish months.
yes my squat sucks, I was only benching and deadlifting for a while before running n-suns because I like them and hate squatting.
no idea what a good intermediate program for hypertrophy is
greg nuckols' 28 free training programs on the stronger by science website (it's a mix and match sort of thing based on your goals and experience) looks good too, though I haven't tried it yet
You know who I'd take bodybuilding advice from? This guy.
good thing he doesn't sell bodybuilding programs then
>350/750/735 @ 242lb
can't deny the man is an absolute beast of a powerlifter, and to be a world class powerlifter in that weight class you need to be fat.
>This is terrible advice because it is very clear by now that a testosterone base should be the foundation of 99% of cycles.
This isn't clear at all. Stop relying on getting all of your information from More Depression More Hairline Recession, the guy is a moron. Look up Broderick Chavez if you want information that is actually good.
>not a single mention of the GOAT Daniel Vadnal
Good, I was about to say. I know fit is not crazy about calisthenics but there are some great YouTubers in that group
The Blue Shorts Guy gang is also very good
>not 1 mention of our boy hemmingway
I don't watch any of them anymore, kinda see through them. They all either use drugs or deliberately over complicate lifting in order to sell "solutions", especially the "science" based channels. Exercise science is a bit of a joke field and the less said about nutrition science the better. People like Layne Norton talk complete pseudoscience that was debunked decades ago but they can't ever admit to being wrong because they've invested their whole career into meme diets and fads like IIFYM. Alan Aragon is almost as bad. I saw Aragon talking to Shawn Baker the other day conveniently forgetting all the stupid shit he used to say.
John Meadows, Chris Bumstead, Noel are the only people worth listening to. I've followed Meadows (Rip) to a T with his arm workouts and they have done so much good. I think sourcing legit info vs hyper over the top "fitness" personalities shows a clear indication of even the types of people you see at the gym. Alot of people are following influencers such as on tiktok and ig who were skinny fats that just learned how to eat like a functional adult, now causing injuries.
I only listen to people who have experience and don't feel the need to peddle products or titles.
>Scott Herman
Bahhhbell, haaaahhd
I only follow (aka: watch dem vids from time to time) Nippard and Thrall.
Only watch old Hodge Twins videos.

I wish natural hypertrophy actually had someone who knew how to make videos to teach him
