i've been making mapo tofu lately and its great. any other good tofu recipes?

I recommend throwing some in a curry or making some General Tso chicken with it. The tofu takes in the sauce better than the chicken does imo, throw in both for some texture variety. I like to mince some in my chili and shit too in order to pad out the ground beef. Very cheap way to make ground beef go further, since crumbling it and mixing in most meat sauces and shit, it's pretty much just ground beef texture. If you live somewhere where beef is cheap ignore this, just buy more beef. Just a good bozo hack to make your meats go further.

If you wanna go the korean route there's a lotta baller stews like kimchi Jjgae that use silken tofu. I like the texture in silken tofu more than the hard stuff tbh, so I tend to make more Korean based shit and mapo tofu's. Man I love tofu bro. Such a good, cheap staple to a kitchen. Too bad IST fell for the whole goyslop reddit meme. At least evert other board on the site thinks the meme is cringe (aside from /misc/ ofc), so I can frick around and find recipes on IST

Thanks for the advice bro. Kimchi tofu stew sounds great, I'll try that soon. I do generally prefer combining tofu with a meat source, maybe I'll try to add some beef to it as well.

First-time lifter but my mother was a vegetarian so I've been tofupilled since birth and can actually offer advice here. Here's the golden rule:

      GOOD SAUCE = GOOD TOFU

It's literally this simple. Yes, there are other elements that influence how well the tofu takes in the sauce as well as the texture in general (e.g., whether you battered and fried it, marinated it, stewed it, etc), but if your sauce is SHIT your tofu will be SHIT.

My advice is to experiment with making a good sauce that fits whatever calorie count you have going first and foremost.

is absolutely right that tofu soaks flavor better than a lot of meat does so flavor control is your top priority. You can even make sets of sauces you like, jar them, and have them on standby for all your tofu purposes. My advice is don't even look at "tofu recipies," look at good sauce recipies. Try them out, and then the rest of the equation is as follows:

Sauce / Stock + Method (stew, fry, tempura, marinate, etc) + vegetable adds + sides (if you're into that) + additional meats (if you're into that).

Nail the sauce, nail the cooking method (other than frying, generally not hard; have to be careful frying because some tofu falls apart when doing that but if it does just scramble it to easily save the dish), nail the tofu. Simple as.

ok tofu shill, how do i get the watery taste out of the tofu and should i just buy it smoked

Press the tofu for 30 minutes. I just rest a paper towel on the stuff and place a pot on top of it. Gets most of the water out

is right. Press your tofu. Unless you take some other shortcut (quality varies if you do this) pressing is essential for frying. It's too soggy otherwise and won't get firm. If you don't want to press your tofu they sell pre-pressed frozen or vacuum-sealed tofu (usually marketed as "firm") at supermarkets you can immediately heat, sear, and sauce instead.

Pepper tofu. Marinate tofu, cover in potato starch and seasonings, fry it up with some sweet peppers, garlic, and chili peppers. Garnish with green onion

Make sure you press the tofu for about an hour. Cut it into 1 inch or so cubes. Throw it in a bag with some olive oil, onions sauce, bbq sauce, lime juice, siracha. Go nuts, try whatever you want. Toss the bag in the fridge for at least an hour or so. Bake at 400 for 30-35 min

I also use onions flour instead of regular flour for my pancakes since it has way more protein. Feelsgood to make some sweet or savory pancakes as a main dish for dindin sometimes.

Obviously it isn't a 1 to 1 replacement I still use some bisquick and shit since going full dick on the onions flour fricks the texture up, but there's enough. Tbh, if that gay cricket flour shit was cheap and easy enough to acquire I would use that too. Protein is protein anon. I don't give a shit about petty estrogen charts or what non-lifters think is good for you. I cook with oil (all kinds of it :0), I eat dah soi. I bench 315. Sad! Guess I'm a sissy now

Pea protein + cornflour makes much better pancakes than onions flour.

Drop your recipe anon. I'm always willing to try new shit. I like soi flour just because it has like 40g of protein per cup. Haven't rly tried pea protein shit tbh.

Isoflavones are literally estrogen. Sure, not mammalian estrogen, but your bidy reads them all the same

It's not impossible. I've read 2 case studies where cessation of onions resolved gynecomastia. Of course, 2 case studies is irrelevant for general nutrition advice. Iirc those guys were eating shittons of onions. Like drinking 6 cartons a day and eating tofu every meal.

          >not mammalian estrogen
which means they bind to estrogen receptors, which means they take up space where more mammalian-like and bioactive estrogen could bind to.

            Anonymous

Wait this is interesting actually, I didn't know this. It blocks mammalian estrogen?

              Anonymous

That's what I've read. It's actually recommended for women at high risk of breast cancer to eat more basedbean. High estrogen contributes to breast cancer, and it's one of the reasons a responsible doctor won't prescribe a woman exogenous estrogen without some kind of serious medical issue.
