    Just don't drink and smoke. Seriously that's it. I worked construction plumbing for years and would take water breaks when my foreman took smoke breaks. For exercise I just got a 70lb kettlebell because waking up at 4:30 gave me a daily 30 minute swing workout before getting to the jobsite and getting home. Just 200-300 swings depending on how I felt. Then I would get to bed at 8 or so. Eventually I finished that job and went on to jobs closer to me, and now I work in the office and have more time, but the baseline is you don't want to be even more miserable than you need to be. Alcohol and smoking just make it worse.
    Food-wise I eat sauerkraut daily. Everything else is up to you. That shit fixes your stomach so easy its not even funny. After a bad day in and out of the port-o-potty I googled what would bulletproof my stomach from gas station food and that was my answer. A daily multivitamin helps too. Other than that, follow the immigrant workers on what they eat. I learned real fast that raw bell peppers are 100x better at hydrating you and keeping you healthy than oranges are. You also learn to just pick and choose whatever from the roach/food truck when it comes around, so add variety as you see the opportunity.
    It sucks but trade jobs are one of the last jobs you can go from just having a GED to being an "Engineer" and working on multi-million dollar jobs or running them. Plus the side money is great. Take care of your body in the early days so you have the ability to use the free time you get later in life. Zero reason to smoke daily and drink like a moron. Focus on athleticism. Run daily if you can.
