Training for street fights

If you had 6 months to turn somebody into the best street fighter you could, what would you prescribe them?

What kind of lifting routine? Which marital art? Assume they can only train an hour a day, max.

    Undarmed, right?
Street fight as in: US definition, ie. lots of rules and basically duelling?
Or Euro definition, all in fight to the finish, life or death?

    If the former: MMA
If the latter: Dirty boxing, strength training like a track and field guy (maximizing power)

      where are you getting this?

Boxing, wrestling, cardio. All with added weights for extra resistance.

When I'm boxing I use wrist weights and they make a big difference for practicing good form

Start out fighting random homeless bums and drugged out zombies. Move your way up to local wannabes, then to hood thugs. You can literally walk around the city at night and fight whoever you want it’s fricking free and there’s no better training

Probably some combination of Starting Strength and boxing/BJJ depending on how tall you are.

      >BJJ
It takes far too long to become effective in a 6 month block of time with bjj. Boxing is a good choice though, in 6 months you can become pretty deadly with boxing

what about muay thai? can you get good in 6 months or is it too complicated?

          Anonymous

Too complicated to become effective in 6months, just learn knees, leg kicks, and front kicks for a week or two. Shit like body kicks WILL get you grabbed/dodged and taken down if you're not good at them.

Search for Muay Thai or Krav Maga Dojos/Clubs. To avoid building up your ego too much you need actual experience, as long as you still imagine yourself as the rambo kicking everyones shit in you are not ready. Watch videos of real, dirty fights (think prison for example) and like I said, aim to get real experience. If you are somewhat decent and feel bad when attacking/provoking passersby ask around at your dojo if some of the members do no-rules sparring on the side or after training. What you can also do is search the web or the streets for a real fight club, good enough for your purposes, just don't start movie discussions there, it will only disappoint you And lastly: Get rid of your pride and ego, the best fighter knows that running away is and has to be an available tool in your arsenal, especially when knives are being pulled

assuming street fight means random bums in a backyard with no gloves or rules and its actually planned in 6 months from now
focus on boxing and some basic takedowns added, for the boxing training focus more on sparring aggressively and drilling basics, followed by a massive amount of heavy bag rounds to improve power and cardio, bulk like a pig while doing it all.

train whatever you want for fighting, but don't ever expect to be truly dangerous in the US.
guns are OP, and if you frick with the wrong person (could even be a Mormon in a short sleeved shirt with a tie), your ass gets filled with lead.

Wrestling will feel like full body lifting. So if you do wrestling and striking practice, you will easily overtrain at 1hr a day.

Depends on your MA teacher. If he includes fitness it is enough. One hour in the gym is more than enough. Stretching included.

wont mean anything when you get punched in the face

It would because you'd have higher bone density and neck strength to take the punch.

would be a lot smarter to learn to not get hit and be the one hitting wouldnt it? are roidtroons really this dumb?

            Anonymous

No, I would recommend wrestling and boxing training in addition to roids. taking some pills and shooting a needle doesn't take an hour a day.

I would train in sprinting. Actually fighting street people is moronic because YOU NEVER fight someone with more to lose than you over shit that DOES NOT matter.

      >I would train in sprinting
You also need some close range clinch stuff for if you're stuck in a train or bus, etc. Look into muay thai/lethwei for that.

A gun is still a better option, even if you don't actually fire it. Especially when outnumbered.

wonder when people will see lethwei for what it is

Only because muay thai clinch fails in real life due to headbutts. Hence looking up lethwei fights and watching/practicing combos is useful.

        Anonymous

not trying to start an argument but lethwei and its headbutts is probably a meme because lethwei is nowhere near as developed and exposed to other styles as muay thai, they don't have the complex clinching, elbows and uppercuts also "counter" clinch attemps and probably much better than banging your head against someone elses.
lethwei is mostly simple brawling with some kicks, it hasn't really been "tested" like muay thai, not even against muay thai itself, contrary to what grifters like dave leduc will keep shouting, that guy only became a thing because lethwei is openweight and he completely dwarfs the fighters who are like 160cm on average, his signature style of fighting is cheesy muay thai teeps.

          >near as developed and exposed to other styles as muay thai, they don't have the complex clinching, elbows and uppercuts also "counter" clinch attemps and probably much better than banging your head against someone elses.
Huh? In lethwei, elbows are the classic counter to headbutts. Muay thai and lethwei both descend from muay boran and military martial arts that had less rules. Muay thai has a more restrictive ruleset because the king wanted the sport to be marketable, which today allows it to have more funding and thus better trained fighters. Things like the classic double collar in muay thai fail to headbutts.

theres simply no reason to believe headbutts "change the game", the biggest difference is lethwei is bareknuckle, which is why 90% of what they do is punch, but they are bad boxers not just by western standards but also muay thai, they would get dominated by a muay matt or skilled muay femur, but i also doubt that they are as skilled at clinching as the thais.
if lethwei becomes more popular it will very quickly have to adapt into something else, ruining it as a tradition, muay thai by comparison basically had an entire revolution of change since the 80s and is a lot more trial and error'd

              >theres simply no reason to believe headbutts "change the game"
If they didn't change the game, they wouldn't be
              >banned in boxing

hitting someone in the nuts is also a foul, i dont really get what you're saying
lethwei is just very sloppy unevolved muay thai with added headslamming, they would probably lose effectiveness against skilled fighters and then go away entirely because headbutts arent the best idea for an attack

                Anonymous

                >hitting someone in the nuts is also a foul
This is already pretty much trained with teeps. My point is if you care about streetfights and not about competition, you'd be better off training with the more complete skillset. You could argue that boxing or judo have better fighters than muay thai because they have more money and draw from international talent pools, but they have less complete rulesets as well for streetfighting.

i just mean to say that lethwei is very unrefined and that headbutts probably only work in it because of that, i dont think it makes sense in any context to train headbutts besides if you're doing lethwei, but if lethwei was exposed to more skilled fighters then headbutts would probably fall out of fashion within it. simply hitting somebody with your fist or elbow or going for a takedown in that position is just so much more efficient and wiser, another thing i have seen of lethwei is they all fight with non-stop aggression, which is probably also why the headbutt came into existence, its limited and only exists in a very specific setting it hasn't really been taken out of
i dont think its about the pool of fighters, but actual techniques and history being so specific, 80s-90s muay thai by comparison was full of different styles fighting at different ranges, guys who could box, guys who specialized in knees and kicks, elbows, sweeps/trips, etc. they actually have a much bigger arsenal.

I know this sounds made up and I don’t expect people to believe me but I got into a big fight against multiple opponents outside a bar and I won. I used moves from MGSV that I had studied prior. I mostly spammed this move with incredible results.

Lots of people who haven't trained in here

4x/WK boxing with 4oz gloves. Light Sparring and partner drills every session. Alternate Moderate/high intensity sparring one session of the week.
2x wk/wrestling for mma. With the 4oz gloves on. Focusing on snap downs to headlock, judo hip throws, taking the back, rear naked chokes, and achieving and maintaining top position from mount. Punches, knees, and elbows are allowed during training. 1/5 of this must be done against a wall. Fish hooks and eye gouges should be practiced at least 2-3x in advance of the fight.
1x/wk thai style clinch work with dirty boxing, knees, and elbows. Groin pad used to encourage groin shots. If you could mimic it somehow find a way to drill reaching for hair too maybe tie a mop on your training partner.
