They are only for professional bodybuilders on steroids who need to get contest ready.
You gain no more muscle if you are 1000cal over compared to 1cal.
Not him but in most cases people get locked in a constant bulk and cut cycle of putting on fat and losing it without gaining any significant muscle. Roiders can do it because they are anabolic at all times, natties just waste their time and put excess stress on the body by aggressively bulking and cutting. Prolonged bulks and cuts is where it's at, and those take months or even a year.
>my first couple of months
Newb strength gains =/= adding muscle
>in most cases people get locked in a constant bulk and cut cycle of putting on fat and losing it without gaining any significant muscle
they don't lift with intensity
it took jesse 7+ years just to get his current physique
this is what maintaining gets you if you're lucky
>most cases people get locked in a constant bulk and cut cycle of putting on fat and losing it without gaining any significant muscle.
The only way that happens is if you suck at training or dieting and if that's the case then there's no training or diet protocol that 's gonna give you a good physique
Yes, and most people suck at training and dieting, especially in the beginning. Most people are also impatient that's why they should not get their advice from roiders and jump from one extreme to the other
Check Greg doucetes older vids about maingaining you only need like 100 calories above your tdee to gain the same muscle as you would with let’s say 500+ calories as fatties here claim is optimal. Also your muscles won’t automatically say they will not grow because you didn’t eat at a surplus. Just eat enough protein like egg whites chicken breast and protein shakes and you are Gucci
>you only need like 100 calories above your tdee
That's still bulking.
Is this French moron the reason why people don't know what bulking means anymore?
you gain muscle as a complete beginner on a caloric deficit, then at some point you stall or very slowly gain
which is why fatties and skinnyfats should start with a cut and get in shape, then bulk
>you gain muscle as a complete beginner on a caloric deficit
No you don't, newbies think they are gaining muscle because they are getting stronger but in reality they are getting stronger because their CNS is becoming more efficient.
This took around 5 months of lifting light ass dumbbells on a caloric deficit.
You can not gain muscle on a deficit, the biological process that grows muscles will not allow that to happen no matter how much dieting fatties want it to be true.
Yes you can, and it's especially easy for noobies

>the biological process
Is not a 1 or 0 phenomena, it's an intricate multifactored system with many feedback loops.
Do you honestly believe that if you are -100kcal, your body turns on an arbitrary switch that shuts down all muscle protein synthesis, then the next day you eat a surplus 100kcal and it's turned on again? Or is the net balance 0 over those two days, and it's neither on nor off? Schrödinger's gains?
So why does every single successful bodybuilder and strength athlete in world use bulk/cut cycles to add muscle?

Why are you incapable of nuance? I am bulking right now.
The claim you made is that no lean mass gain can occur on a caloric deficit. This is patently false, it does occur in some scenarios.
Did I say that bulking isn't real? No. I said that noobs can gain and cut at the same time. Would they gain more on a bulk within the same time frame? Yes they would.

Describe the biological process that would lead to muscle gain on a calorie deficit - you can't because it doesn't exist.

Every succesful bodybuilder and strength athlete is on PEDs. I mentioned it before in this thread, roids put you in a constant anabolic state that is just not possible for natties. We do not operate on the same levels, if a natty were to follow the aggressive bulks and cuts pro bodybuilders do they'd just end up losing any minimal muscle they gained during the bulk. Slow and steady is the name of the game for us, do bulk but do not be aggressive about it. Hell, I'm bulking right now, I've been bulking since October
But they are tho, noobs can recomp efficently. It's such a novel stimulus that some growth will occur regardless.
Will they still be dyel by inflated internet standards at the end? Absolutely.
But the difference from being actual unlifting skinnyfat/skinny to a few pounds of noob lean gains is real, you just don't notice because you are used to seeing the skinnies with noob gains in the gym or posting in fitness/lifting communities, so that becomes the baseline. Occasionally when you see an actual DYEL for the first time in the gym it's surreal, I'm around 180lbs and have 16" arms which is DYEL by all internet standards meanwhile my forearms which I never worked directly will be significantly bigger than their bi's/tri's.

You will never be able to consistently eat a 100 calorie surplus though. Impossible to measure. The point of eating 500 above maintenance is that you can be sure you are in a surplus
I've been putting in muscle in place of fat for a few months now while mantaining my weight, i don't know what's so complicated, just eat the right amount of protein
It's still pretty funny how people get big and strong following certain methods only to go on to denounce said methods. Still I don't disagree with him, I've found heavy bulks to be a big strain on the body so even if going +20% bf megabulk would make for some great gains it wouldn't be sustainable as quality of life itself starts to suffer
>everything exists on an autistic spectrum of YES or NO >you either have to gigabloat and only squat/bench/deadlift, OR you have to eat 100kcal surplus OCD diet and do high volume isolation >doing something in between with bias towards whatever your goal is at the time because you feel like it and having a good time getting stronger and bigger is impossible
why are everyone here so autistic and dogmatic, just lift lmao
What the frick is this thread? Are you all moronic? Do I really share the board with all these people that clearly don't lift? Yes, ripptoe is stupid, but if you are claiming bulking is useless then I know you've never made any real gains in your life.
The definition of bulking has changed from "eating at a surplus" to "stuffing your face with useless carbs until you are a hambeast", mostly because of fitness influencers, even though what they advocate for has been called clean bulking for at least a decade.
>misuse term or deliberately change name of it >start using new term they made up to make themselves feel smart >start saying old term thing bad and new term thing good
what are they, liberals?
I've heard two high school kids talking about bulking on the bus the other day. One of them tried to explain what bulking is and described it as "I can just eat whatever I want so I try to eat takeout as often as I can for the extra calories". Gymtok was a fricking mistake
These two are opposite ends if the DYEL spectrum
Norwood3 Hypertrophy is one end of the spectrum. Has some muscle definition by virtue if being a 150lbs dyel twink, tricks morons on youtube with angle and light frauding
Rioddetoe is the other end of the spectrum. you try and gain as much muscle on shitty programming and look big by virtue of half you size being from bloat. pecs are moobs
How are you going to add muscle without bulking?
Properly. You can easily add muscle without gaining fat if you put some actual effort in, and also time you food intake.
>Properly
More like inefficiently, bulk/cut cycles are how you get big.
They are only for professional bodybuilders on steroids who need to get contest ready.

I'm thinking the latter
Literally no serious high level powerlifter listens to Rippetoe
>you need a strength base before lifting for hypertrophy/aesthebreasts
some of these look quite good
These two are opposite ends if the DYEL spectrum
Norwood3 Hypertrophy is one end of the spectrum. Has some muscle definition by virtue if being a 150lbs dyel twink, tricks morons on youtube with angle and light frauding

exactly
you've been brain damaged by PED users on the internet, might as well start injecting
>wear size L shirt
>20cm of sleeve space
>wrists of a emo kid who cuts himself
yup. this guy is smol.
so your critique of a guy running a channel named "natural hypertrophy" is that he isn't fat and/or roids
moron
no. he is small and looks large to you morons by virtue of lighting and angle fraud. can't you read homie?
>200lbs+ lean at 6" is small
post body already
>6 inches tall

lmao

Gigachud phenotype, I love this lil homie like you wouldn't believe
NH is like 205 lbs fairly lean
*makes 30min+ videos without a summary in a boring voice*
who watches this guy
to me, the accent is the worst thing. just get rid of it. it's not hard. we don't care if you're french. speak in a neutral accent.
