dunno if I'd automatically ban people for making a membership on 1/1, but would be find if they banned people who joined 1/1 but didn't go more than 10 times the following 30 days. You'd hit 13 visits if only going MWF this month.

Poorgay here. What are luxury gyms like?

      Anonymous

Clean equipment, fresh towels, and some extra amenities. Maybe a tennis court, sauna room or an olympic size swimming pool.

It's more for the flex than anything. You won't get any good lifting done there, and most won't even have a platform for oly chumps. You can forget about dropping heavy ass weights because that'll be seen as bad for business.

        Anonymous

You shouldn't drop weight, anyway. If you have to drop it, it is too heavy for you.

That's moronic. Find any powerlifter pulling a new max, I guarantee they slam it down

Yes, we all know powershitting is about lifting beyond your capacity until your joints are fricked up beyond repair. Only morons do it.

Went to a climbing gym where they had a small weight room on the side - one bar in a squat rack. I stacked 2 pl8s for deadies after climbing just to gas out. A hippie that worked there asked me what I was doing. "Lifting weights?" He didn't say anything but left annoyed. I still don't know why. Some places have weights but they don't actually want you to use them, I guess.

I have been to a racquet club that was pretty fancy.
Mostly older people. Probably a 75/25 split.
equipment was fine but no hardcore stuff and some wasn't maintained...........
More terrible bars with no knurling. octagonal plates.
      150 a month.

      Now I home gym.

Shit tier. I went to one with a guest oass with a friend and they had 1 squat rack, 3 benches, and a shit ton of moronic machines. People are entitled and dont rerack equipment because they expect wagies to clean it up, but there werent any wagies cleaning it up. All for 180/month

The purpose of these clubs is to get away from poor people. The prices are just there to exclude.

No one who responded has any idea what they are talking about. I actually go to a luxury gym
      1. Mine has childcare which is great because my kids get to play with other kids whose parents also workout and I get to mog their parents.
      B. Olympic size pool, regular pool, and hot tub
      D. Sauna, steam room
      5. Older people so the machines and racks are never crowded.
Some things I don't care for. Classes almost every hour in 4 separate rooms.
      Pilates
Once a month free personal trainer class.
And the final icing on the cake Absolutely, positively, no Black folk.
As for making noises. As long as you're not a literal autist when you lift no one cares if you grunt or drop weights.

I used to go to a gym in rural PA that had tennis court, sauna, childcare included, mma including a full octagon, track, full list of classes, no black people because vet gym in countryside. Difference is it was 1/4 of the price and had nautilus and hammerstrength machines and OLY lifting equipment and a separate room for deadlifts with calibrated plates.

I'm an autist so I was just there for the lifting equipment though but still 2nd favorite gym ever.

Where do you find blacks? I don't go out much but here in suburbia it's indians, asians, and whites.

The funniest thing about these liberal west coast cities is how absurdly low the black population is despite how much they ape for the various moments. San Jose is 1% black.

Literal nothing burger. The only reason they would make a headline like that was because no one was signing up on NY anyways. Planet fitness makes like 99% of their revenue off this single day. Resolutioners who sign up and never show up are the literal dream for any gym

    negative press viral marketing
kek that place must be a soulless pit of demonic hell
imagine the kind of mid-range narcissistic midwit with expendable income that has that ''its not enough that I should succeed, others should fail too'' mentality that goes to that hellhole.
It's like going to be a breeding ground for Narc/Sociopath/BPD family units if people actually shack up there.
Reverse eugenics except you positively select for narcissism and sociopathy.
Regular well-adjusted rich gays just go to a low key private health club, often attached to their country club. This 100% upper middle class narc midwit bait and no actual loaded gays go there. This is like ''I made my first million, I made it'' mentality. Dudes with chipped shoulders who want the ''exclusive experience'' and the moron middle class hookers who think they're gonna score billionaires. No, you're gonna at best score a moron who's in executive real estate development or some corporate level gay, not your golden ticket...Anyways still a come up for these hood rats.

    I like this.
    Might have to join Equinox.

It is something like 200 a month. It is a good gym from what I hear but you have to use it 4x week minimum to enjoy it.
I never went, but I have friends who go. Unlike other gyms they actually don't want non-regulars.

        Anonymous

I don't see anything wrong with this.
The Equinox brand is that they are only for serious people, they don't really want amateurs. They are expensive in part to keep out the poors/casuals.

how much do they pay you to shill on IST?
compared to their revenue, do you feel like you are being paid fairly?

New year's resolution members are doomed to fail. When I first got into lifting I told my friend I would start in the new year. He told me I was setting myself up for failure if I set a timeline on starting work and instead should just start going tomorrow if I was going to go at all. Since then I've seen piles of people flock to the gym in January only to be never seen past February

  9. 1 year ago

why hate on people joining the gym in january though? there could be any variety of reason why people are beginning their journey in january it could have nothing to do with new years resolutions.
seems to just be creating an atmosphere where people feel self concious to sign up in january.

Are you serious? There are countless threads and also A GODDAMN COMIC that used to be made every year about how obnoxious the influx of tardfarms in January are.
The more appropriate question is why are you pretending like it's insane for Equinox to want to maintain the integrity of the club by not letting fly-by-night guilty fatties join for the month and annoy the everliving shit out of people who pay and are there all year round?

      it specifically says january 1st
and they are right, people who wait for some arbitrary date to make a lifestyle change that they could do whenever are NGMI
You should try to do your best every single day, and if you fail you try the next day, not go "oh I fricked up oh well I'll just keep being a disgusting piece of shit until new years then get serious then"

Apparently its a meme and gyms see like a 4 percent average increase in january vs the rest of the year. I know it obviously varies from place to place. Basically the stats were every months gyms saw a 8 percent increase in members. In January that number is 12 percent increase in members. No notions of drop rates or what not but still only like 4 percent more members

Hmm, I think I'll stick with my poorgay gym. Has plenty of squat racks, a deadlift platform, a shitty 3 lane pool, sauna and steam room, and very few Black folk (I don't even see one every day).

I accidentally went at 4:30 today, and there was no new people except a few new cardio Bunnies. Man am I glad I don't go to a chain.
