Imma footbalgay, there is a reason that every competitive sport at highschool and beyond has a strength and conditioning program
Well they are games with measurable standards, so its a pretty good test for applicable fitness, being faster, stronger, quicker than someone else. Squats and deadlifts (to a point) make you a more powerful human being regardless of what you do
In that regard shouldnt cleans and snatches be the focus as they use the full body (as one might in football)
>Never played a real sport in your life
>Never played a real sport
>Played a real sport
>A real sport
>A real sport
All sports are just made up games, how can any be more "real" games than other games?
I carry round rocks that are 600lb every day too bro. Deadlifts are useful
>only need a standard bar on the ground for all my lifts to make women like me
>bench presses are useless and don’t make you look good
>meme that changed my life
How did that meme change your life
cause its the truth
with clothes on, only shoulders matter
with a tshirt, maybe also biceps, triceps and forearms
If I were this guy a better strategy would be to just not take off the shirt during sex. Or take it off after he is already balls deep and too late
>Powerlifting
>Real sport
Deadlifts benefit actual sports moron. Every competitive sports team from highschool to professional has a strength and conditioning program
I been doing sports. Whats deadlift actually do that translates to anything besides Powershitting?
>cardio is more important than lifting for a good health
>you should spend as much time with cardio as you do with lifting
>cardio is more important than lifting for a good health
That's just a fact.
>just lower your test with LDR bro
I would never run as much as I lift
just a few max speed sprinting sets and then I'm done with cardio
sprinting is where it's at with running
long distance running is for israelites and other genetic trash
God bless you anon these idiots are all gonna die of heart disease running up a flight of stairs
Went to the Dr yesterday, resting bpm is 58 and blood pressure is 100/60. Haven’t done a minute of cardio in years.
>you can't lift your way out of unattractive face/genes
>you can't lift your way out of unattractive face
A low bf% is basically free plastic surgery. While you certainly won't look like another person, it will make your jaw and cheeckbones more prominent. Besides, being pretty is for women.
>you can't lift your way out of your genes
Agree.
>all you need is big rocks and walking
>deadlifts don’t do anything
>besides squatting and overhead press straight barbells are worse for every muscle group
>my local gym bimbo with a bbl and butt implants I see everyday needs to shove her big fat toned ass into my face after every workout
Why wouldn’t dumbbells be better for shoulder press than barbells as well (though a barbell obviously looks way cooler)
>the most important movements for *longevity* and day to day usefulness are cross body, unilateral and rotational movements

Is weight vest walking loaded carry
Yes and it's very useful for long distances like in miles, you can ruck with 10% of your bodyweight more or less indefinitely, 20% for shorter times (think about the joint damage soldiers get), bodyweight for about 2 mins and double bodyweight for about 1min/maybe 100 meters total if you're doing strongman type shit. Vests are good but farmers carries work your grip and distract your shoulder joint, zercher/bear hug work your core and teach you to move on compromosed positions, and overhead walks are God tier for upper back. Do em all.
Very based take imo, especially about mobility. Lately I have been thinking about olympic weightlifters, it's quite strucking how mobile they need to be in order to perform those movements. I on the other hand, am totally unflexible and need to work on this
Unironically I recommend kettlebell lifts for this as you can do all the O-lifts but in a way that's friendlier to your joints
Not a bad idea to be honest, thanks for the rec 🙂

are fricking stupid and useless
I think it's more just that people seem to push deadlift for 1rm numbers exclusively instead of doing it for sets of 10.
People say deadlift doesn't help you grow but I started just doing 3pl8 for sets of 10 (I do have to use straps as I start to lose grip around rep 8 on second set) and have noticed much better core, glutes, traps, back development, and I've only started doing this a few months ago. Basically doing deadlifts for hypertrophy does work you just need to find the right weight for you instead of just pushing and pushing 1rm or 3x3 weight.
>doing a lift with higher volume leads to better hpertrophy

Lifting as much as you would carry over a long distance (walking all day) is all you really need and all your body is developed to do.
Dudes who lift huge and don't compete just do it because they're fatties and want to eat more. Only damaged goods women think they're attractive.
If you're not putting in 4 hours of good cardio a week you're not going to make it.
CrossFit isn't all that bad and the chicks are hot. I still won't do it because I don't want to spend 200 a month
you a broke homie or what?
nta, it's a waste of money when you can get close to the same for incomparably less
All you need it gymnast rings and a vest/ankle weights to do weighted dips/pullups/pushups to achieve the perfect body at 10% BF.
is this at least partially true. seems so
a vest doesn't allow for much progression - with a belt and plates you can get pretty good upper body progress - minus the traps since traps are best trained by heavy pulls. but I don't see why you would train exclusively with rings when a barbell offers much more space for progression and something that can work your whole body.
inverted rows for traps?
genetics is everything
if you can't hit at least a 3pl8 bench within 2-3 years of training, quit. because you don't have the genetics
Agree with everything except while I think the way most people deadlift is useless- a moronic ego lift that accomplished little more than fricking up their joints- learning the hip hinge is actually pretty useful. Could not believe how bad I was at loading the glutes/hamstrings and maintaining tension/proper mechanics when I started deadlifting.
>deadlifts are fricking stupid and useless
I've substituted DF's for a combination of back extentions, leg curls, and glute isolation
Bodybuilders are the same as women, only care about aesthetics. Ruin they spine with lifting and those who juice are even worse
Actual strong people don't look like bodybuilders, they do look big for sure but never shredded
Kroc rows are based

Pick one.
Unpopular opinion:
If you're a man, you only need to train legs twice a month or so. No one cares if you have a nice ass or legs. You can just do benches, curls, and, running most of time and have a way more attractive physique than squat gays.
>t. I still squat every week tho because I just can't stop and like it too much.
this, I squat once a week and I can’t imagine doing more. my legs would look completely moronic.
I think the underlying argument for this should be;
legs will grow no matter what if you work them, they will always be prioritized for growth and recovery over every other muscle because their base usage is so comparatively high unless you walk on your hands. Even if you didn't increase the volume for other groups their growth potential would be better because they're not competing with the legs aminos and whatever else.
> No one cares if you have a nice ass
My gf begs to differ
i can understand a bunch of these except
cable machines? I was like 15 kg away from maxing out the lat pull when i started and all i did was half a year cali
Okay, but then try it with control you idiot.
You know those boomers who load up 70kg on the triceps pushdown cable and then just jump and hold themselves up as their bodyweight pushes them down? That's you.
Deadlifts are for stupid people lmao, if you regularly do them as part of your routine you're just stupid lol
How do deadlifts not obliterate your lower back? It's literally everything any random workplace safety guide would tell you to avoid when lifting heavy objects.
People "at work" are untrained. The whole point is to exercise and strengthen those movements. I'd be lying if I said I don't care about aesthetics, but 95% of why I squat and deadlift is so I can take a shit under my own power for the rest of my life. I find it terrifying seeing these older dudes in their 70s, big grandpa belly, no posterior chain strength or flexibility and realizing they can't take care of themselves properly. Needing to sit down and take *minutes* to tie shoes, can't get in or out of the bath safely and without fear. And it's not just fatties. I want to die, having never been stuck on a toilet. I want to die never having to need help wiping my ass, or getting in and out of my bed.
If you don't do cardio you can't consider yourself IST.
The reason most of these opinions are unpopular are because they're fricking moronic
> gays should go back to /lgbt/. gayposting should be a bannable offense
newbie, IST has always been an lgbtq safe space. And I really miss Billy Harrington posting tbh senpai
>n-nooo you don't understand

it was only "accepted" because it was funny, it was only funny because it's taboo/gross/amoral whatever. Once it's "accepted" or even openly tolerated it's no longer has that layer that makes it amusing and just winds up being homosexualry.
>most barbell lifts are fricking moronic, other than squats/bench/dl there is nothing you can't do with dumbbells
>BB OHP in particular is just needlessly dangerous compared to using dumbbells, it's pointless unless you're doing actual competitive lifting and telling beginners to do it as part of a starting program to get in shape is outright dangerous

>>BB OHP in particular is just needlessly dangerous compared to using dumbbells, it's pointless unless you're doing actual competitive lifting and telling beginners to do it as part of a starting program to get in shape is outright dangerous
I get so much more out of DB OHP than BBs. BB OHPs are cool for ego purposes, but not much purpose to it other than that.
Mostly based.
Except:
>IST in general eats a meme amount of protein, no one needs 150g+ unless they're already hugely ripped and training, most new lifters will not notice any difference pasy 80-100g a day regardless of how fat they are
Manlet discovered.
1.how is barbell overheadpress dangerous?
2. yoga hurts my lumbar spine for some reason. Stopped doing yoga - pain went away.
>1.how is barbell overheadpress dangerous
Have you not seen that vid that's been posted like 10x since yesterday? There are so many points of possible failure that can literally lead to snapping your spine and being paralyzed from the neck down for life, albeit not if you use safeties but you can still very easily snap your shit
>2. yoga hurts my lumbar spine
Black person do you think all those 100yo skinny ass Indians who do it are hurting their back? It's just like squats or deadlifts, if it hurts your back you're doing it wrong, find a proper yoga teacher not some normie boomer lady and get the form right and it won't hurt
>you can still very easily snap your shit
Sure, if you're clearly not prepared to lift the weight like the guy in the video. That's true for any exercise though. Overhead presses are just like any other lift, if you take the time to learn technique and don't lift like a moron, then you'll be fine
lol cya homosexual
Oh no what will I do
Oh i know, restart my router

>women should not do upper body exercise beyond a minimum to stay toned
This is your worst take, women should always get their back to have some more width to give them the illusion of a thinner waist. Do you like women with a refrigerator upper body with legs? Because that’s what you will get. Post a girl who has an “ideal” physique to you, and I guarantee most girls will have to train their back to get it.
School sports is garbage and should be reformed
>Kids hat already play sports regularly will get good grades people that don't won't get along and lose interest faster.
>1-2 hours sport a week does nothing to improve health
>1-2 hours a week isn't enough to properly learn a sport.
>your grades highly depend on your body type. My 6'5 210lbs failed pull ups and gymnastics like high bar, but always got straight A's in swimming, shot-put and endurance running without even trying.
>dogeball isn't a sport, it's just for traumatizing nerds
>gym teachers are creeps that only want to randomly check the girls locker room.
In my ideal school sport, it would be at least 4-5 hours a week and focus on current health issues like obesity. No grades because who the frick cares if 16 year old you shot-put a iron ball 30 feet or not after 2 hours of trying.
It would include topics like proper diet, counting calories how to stay fit and actually lose weight. Also teach them how to lift weights properly without hurting themselves
Teaching overweight teens to cardio in THEIR OWN TEMPO for hours, without raising blood lactate and fatiguing after 5 minutes (like unmotivated gym teachers do) will not only be more beneficial for health, but also not annoy them so they stop doing sports altogether.
Maybe have them do diet plans with their parents. If someones overweight and diabetic at 10, it's probably the fault of his lard parents ordering McDonald's every noon or Kellogg's every morning

agree about deadlifts. no one athletic does deadlifts or at least maxes. rdls are fine if youre doing like sets of 20 with lighter weight.
>only cardio matters
thats my hot take
what defines "athletic"
Unless you powerlift as a sport (or unless you are a professional athlete with a specific need), there's no good reason to do anything other than calisthenics and some form of cardio
