most fitness influencers and zoomers you see are like 140lbs - 150lbs even though they might e-stat ~180lbs. It comes down mainly to insecurity. But it's definitely very normal, 150lbs with abs is kinda big tbh.
Just having more muscle in those areas could be enough to make it look way better. I’m fairly high bodyfat, but I do a lot of lower abs, low back, rotational, hip stuff and it doesn’t show up in those areas as much even though I probably have more fat there than he does. People usually neglect low abs and obliques because they want a small waist, but if you aren’t totally cut it just shows up as there being more bodyfat there than muscle.

Lost 15 lbs while still progressing on lifts, on an 800 calorie deficit for 2 months and change. Towards the end I felt like a fricking corpse halfway through my workouts and starving an hour or two after every meal. I'm still DYEL so I just need to get bigger, I think. My adonis belt is pretty frickin thick so it'll balance out
I suspect it happened from doing leg raises. Sustained a small but extremely annoying umbilical hernia. Feels like the skin on my stomach is a few inches too short, like it's getting pinched together from the inside.

I train chest with abs because the rest of the days I do compounds lifts, so I basically train them always. I got a strong core but they seem not to grow sadly.
Yeah that stuff is really high rep. You don’t want to give yourself a hernia, but you can do more intense variations of that stuff and stimulate more muscle growth. I do hanging leg raises, but raise my legs all the way above the bar, Russian twists holding a plate, hanging windmills, weighted/elevated planks.

Good luck anon. Abs are hit by compounds, but if you feel no soreness in them at the end of a regular workout it never hurts to throw a few sets in at the end.

I'm in the same boat, but I'm 100 lbs with a high bf%-to-muscle ratio and can't safely run a 500 kcal daily deficit since my TDEE is like 1500.
The solution, I figured, was training my abs. Got a hernia, was too skinny to get a mesh, and now I can't lift much at all.
