Was SS a meme all along?

I only got bigger legs and arms (thanks to curls)

I went to the gym with a friend
>suprised about my low volume
>mogs me on every lift exept squad
>exect squad
He doesnt even lift, just boxing and bodyweight training

Pls recommend me another routine to get IST

Blaha has an improved version of SS called like Icecream 5x5 Novice or something. It adds curls erryday and additional trap work so your bench won't suck. Basic ass SS is going to send all your gains straight to your legs.

SS,SL etc. are all routines skinny weak dyels should do for like 2 or 3 months to build form and a strength base. youre not going to gain much muscle witha hypertrophy or strength program in 2-3 months so might aswell build a nice strength base for when you go into a hypertrophy routine

This, it's literally just the tutorial. Add volume and accessories as soon as you're comfortable doing so.

Squats and milk program is the good follow up to SS. Higher volume but similar lifts

There's no hard and fast rule, it's when straight linear progression outright runs out despite eating a decent amount. This varies by person, from (for males). Some folks might feel that they can't even pass 160lbs on the squat even with their milk, and there are some folks who really do 5lbs their way to 300lbs.
Set an arbitrary minimum, either in weight or time. As a general rule, after 3 month is usually a minimum time to stop, though you're welcome to continue if you're confident you can still regularly put 5lbs on the bar for at least half of your lifts. If you wanna go by weight, 225lbs squat is usually a good minimum for when you can consider switching.

If you actually lifted you should have noticeable gains.
And 5x5 heavy is not low volume when you start putting some weight on the bar
I’d say to stick with the program until you stop with linear progression or that plus one deload and stop again
On the other hand if you just care about looks jump right into a bro split/ppl or whatever more focused on volume/aesthetics, SS/SL are only good if you care about getting your number up, other than that they are a meme and are not for everyone
