No. Saying it doesn't make it so. Understand the mechanics of a punch.

        Anonymous

The power of the punch comes from stepping in and pulling yourself with your leg forward sort of slamming your fist to the target, its not really the ass that strengthens the punch but the hip twisting rotation like when throwing a ball, ground and pound only uses the hip twisting motion to generate the power, stronger arms and grip definitely help in withstanding greater collision however and clinching your fist whole way through, also the acceleration or plyometric movement is what generates the most of the arm strength, not slow contractions or extensions of the muscles.

Strength is a factor but so is technique. If two people have identical technique and speed, the larger person would generate more force due to having greater mass.

                Anonymous

It all equates back to the newtown's second law: Mass X Acceleration = Force.

Mass = Person's size, Acceleration = How fast can the guy punch with solid technique = Force output/damage.

It's not difficult to understand unless you've dedicated your entire life to the bench press and now are being told the truth.

The force of your punch comes from your legs sending the force up to your arms, which are essentially just like cables doing what your legs tell them to do. Look up Jack Dempsey's falling step punch. It's about the easiest way I can explain it.

You're wasting your time and weakening yourself, hurting your shoulders, and giving yourself laughably bad poor posture with the bench press.

Fast twitch fibers get build from anaerobic activities, so unless you're doing 30+ reps on bench, you're hitting the fast twitch fibers. Slow twitch fibers get hit from aerobic activities, like cardio for example. Fricking moron

According to the laws of physics a faster punch would generate more force than a slower punch, provided the weight of the object (fist, arm, body, etc.) is equal.

Hip and leg torque is a big part of it, sure, but other things equal, a person who can generate more force with the triceps and chest will hit harder. At some point the arm has to extend outward, not just swing like a baseball bat.

Chest muscle will only help if you build fast twitch muscle fibers. Low rep benches are too slow, you have to do exercises that increase speed. Having mass is only half the equation, speed is needed to give more velocity to your punches and more punches per combo. Chest does help though if you train speed, ever seen ali’s phantom punch in like 200ms. Huge contraction from the pecs to bring that one in.

Power is speed AND strength tard, weight is actually quite important also.

Nofights need to understand that just like in vidya there are light, fast punches which open up the opponent to harder and slower ones (slower because more body weight is used)
This is why the 1-2 drill (generally) uses the left hand for the first strike - it is mainly intended to weaken and disorientate the opponent.
