Three questions
What is your max weighted pullup?
How many bodyweight pullups can you do?
Do you think weighted pullups helped you improve your bodyweight pullups?
>(chins and neutral grip included as well, increase sample size, inb4 I understand they are different)
>that guy who does weighted pullups in the cable machine
That's me.
Got a problem with it, little boy?
Get fucked.
Do some non-sissy exercises next time.
Very few gyms have a dedicate pull-up bar, so it is either the cables or the power racks. You'd whine like a moron about either.
where else should you do them
no other placw to hold on high
200lbs bodyweight + 80lbs, for a 3x5. Not sure what 5RM is.
I don't typically do max reps on bodyweight pullups but around 20.
Problem is a lot of gyms don't have dedicated pullup bars because "lmao just use the one under the cable crossover!". Even though using that fucking thing is a pain in the ass because you're trying to work around multiple people constantly using those.
I do mine in one of the squat racks since my gym has plenty of them and they have a top bar. Or worst case scenario I'll set the smith machine bar to the top and use that.
I don’t know what my 1rm would be but I’m trying to get 3x8 on 26kg at the moment. Stuck at 3x7 with shit ROM. It’s annoying.
I can do 20 bw pullups, maybe 25 on a good day.
For sure weighted pull ups made my bw pull ups better, no question.
My strict 1RM is 40kg
>What is your max weighted pullup?
I did +160lbs a while back at 225lbs. Haven't bothered maxing out since though.
>Do you think weighted pullups helped you
Chest to bar about 15. If I'm just doing the chin over bar shit though about 25.
>Do you think weighted pullups helped you improve your bodyweight pullups?
I guess. If I focused on bodyweight I could probably do more, but I really only do bodyweight as a warm up or for fun.
>that guy who does weighted pullups in the cable machine
The bar being angled just helps my tendinitis leave me alone.
5x60lb is my usual. I can do 5x70lb chins
filthy bugposter
>What is your max weighted pullup?
100 lbs. My goal is to do a weighted pull-up with my gf hanging on me.
>How many bodyweight pullups can you do?
About 10-15
>Do you think weighted pullups helped you improve your bodyweight pullups?
Yes but doing it with weights make it more fun and challenging.
i don't have enough weights to try
>What is your max weighted pullup?
+30kg for 5
>How many bodyweight pullups can you do?
about 16. havent maxxed out in a while though
>Do you think weighted pullups helped you improve your bodyweight pullups?
to a point, but past 15 you need to be more muscle endurance specific rather than strength focused
Log your weighted pull ups with absolute weight (your body + weights), thats the trick to getting powerlifting progression schemes to work for weighted pull ups
Can do +35 lbs for 8 so according to an online 1RM calculator I could do +90 lbs. I would guess I can do 15 pull-ups if I do them fast (not kipping, just not as controlled). Weighted definitely improved my bodyweight pull-ups, I had a hard time progressing reps. Progressing weight was easier.
>What is your max weighted pullup?
Never tried it put calculator gives 186lbs+68lbs added weight
>How many bodyweight pullups can you do?
11
>Do you think weighted pullups helped you improve your bodyweight pullups?
Don't do them but they would carryover a lot
Got up to 37.5kg for 3 reps.
I started at 10kg, 3 chin ups, rest, 3 pullups, rest, 3 hammer grips.
Every day for a week and add 0.5kg at the start of the following week.
40kg x 10 for pullups
>Do you think weighted pullups helped you improve your bodyweight pullups?
absolutely, try doing BW pullups once you get better at weighted, it feels like pulling yourself up in the water
>40kg x 10 for pullups
bro what? You weight 60kg?
96kg or so
there are people out there doing one arm weighted muscle ups and you're in awe of someone doing pullups with a little extra weight?
I can imagine the quarter reps given that physique
kek, this is natty lifting kid, you're not the first to criticize my physique in relation to my lifts
what makes is funny is the fact that it usually comes from novices who don't really know what to expect from lifting, are high or their IT influencers' bullshit and refuse to believe you can move a lot of weight and not look awesome
I don't even look that horrible to justify slinging shit at me for claiming to lift a LITTLE more than a median ISTizen
if you're indeed relatively new to lifting, remember that lifting natty with average genetics will not make you look like the e-celebs you watch on YT or tiktok, if you want to soften the blow, hop on gear after your first two years of lifting
Blablabla post a vid of you doing 10 full extension reps with 40kg added, it's the only way for people to believe you doing it while having 16" arms at 20% bodyfat
Even if he had posted one, you'd certainly find something to nitpick about, bc your coping mechanism is fully on right now
>Even if he had posted one, you'd certainly find something to nitpick about
But you knew that before you posted the pic of your self. It dosn't matter, a 40kg for 10 pull up up at 96kg is an impressive feat and the chances you estatting here is huge. Post vid. Who cares what anyone says if you can lift that you fucking bitch
Post body
96kg, doing 40kg for 10?
i want to believe
Assuming this is true, how did you get to those numbers?
Yea I want to know his routine aswell.
I've been stalling at 70lbs weighted pullups for a while now.
can do 70lbs 5x5 but when I increase to 75lbs I can't even hit a solid 5 reps on my first set.
makes no sense
With that kind of volume, that's craaaazy
But I suppose that is possible
Heard weighted pullups and dips do seem to be sticklers for some
Maybe use fractional plates and see how it goes
Also consider deloading perhaps
194cm, 109kg bw. I can do 8 reps of relaxed hang in the bottom, 15 reps of constant tension or 3 reps with 30kg weight vest.
This shit is how my cousin fucked his hips.
Use this instead
my current absolute best is +82.5 kg with at least fair form since it got accepted for competition.
Max bw? idk last time i checed like 9 mo ago it was 25 after 2 hours of casual bouldering. Id say i can do 30. weighted defo help with bw pulls up to intermediate levels of BW pull ups but when u aim for retarded levels like 50+ reps then i dont think its the way. maybe very light weighted pull ups like +5 or 10kg and doing 20-30 reps with it would help but i dont think anything above +30kg would be helpful at that point
this is useless and a waste of money if u aim for real weights. maybe your cousin is jsut fucking stupid
I can probably do like 30 kg for 1 rep, but atm I just do 10+ reps with 10 kg.
weighted pullups are the goat
lat pulldowns and rows were muh
weighted pullups blew my back up
just did +30kg for 8, best heavy set +35kg x 7.
Bodyweight best 34 reps few years back, done 100 pullups in under 9min 30s, no crossfit flopping proper pullups
I can do 10 bodyweight only, when do I start weighted ?
id hop on weighted when u can do 15 bw
yeah, good rule of thumb when you can crank out 10-15 strict pullups, start to add a little weight
I started adding weight when I got to 12 strict bw pullups
There's gotta be a better, easier, quicker way to do this. I'm just gonna get a cheap backpack to see how it works for me. Setting up weights with that belt thing takes way too much time and work.
It takes like 30 seconds
backpack fucks up your form. don't do backpack pull ups, it's a waste of time. a cheap 3m rope is like $3 and does the job just fine if you can't afford a proper belt
Best i did is +52.5kg at 70kg bw
I can do 19 with just bw
The carryover is limited beyond a certain point. You gotta train at what you want to improve.
I'm doing 20kg 5x10 at 68kg bw.
max bw 30+, haven't tried in a while tho. I've gained 4kg since I stopped training bw pull ups. was doing way too much volume and getting nowhere
do them sometimes to warm up tho it feels ridiculously light now. if I could do 30 before I bet I can do more now
>max
currently 5 reps with 35 lbs. added on, and I weigh 235.
>max bodyweight
about 12 on a good day
When I was 205 and in my best shape, I could bang out sets of 8 with 50 lbs. added and hit 20 at bodyweight, but I'm almost 50 now and have a few extra lbs on me, so that ain't happening for now.
