This is the most important step that a lot of preppers completely ignore. When you have supplies, other people are going to want them. So your options are limited after SHTF. Assuming you're solo or with your immediate family (let's say Husband, Wife, two sons, and a daughter):
>You need to do the daily activities related to survival; sanitation, food preparation, supply acquisition, physical protection, and let's be real: some type of entertainment. If all you do is work, you and your family will go insane.
>Wife and daughter can help with some, but women might very well be targets. You'll want to keep them in your safe zone if at all possible.

A lot of supplies are bought by preppers for the purpose of trading after SHTF. Trading represents a huge risk. Say you go to meet with someone to make a deal. Even if everything goes well, what's to stop them from following you back to your cache?
So, your options:
>Ruthlessly kill everyone you see, essentially becoming a raider and living off the supplies you get from their corpses
>Work with a small network of people you trust
The second option is better. And it lets people focus more on what they're good at. Maybe someone's got a good talent for distilling good alcohol. Maybe someone knows how to make antibiotics. Maybe someone just knows how to properly set a bone. Working with them is a good idea.
Anyway, all of this is to say: it's important to have frens.
