Can you elaborate? How did you mess it up and how can you tell? I've been doing extended fasts for autophagy and intestinal health as opposed to losing weight and this has me worried.

          Anonymous

I developed reactive hypoglycemia. Because of the fasts while still training, my body would go into panic mode and overproduce insulin when I would break the fasts to get that energy asap. My blood sugar would plummet and I would be horribly dizzy and fatigued, and over time I began exhibiting early signs of anemia (both verified by blood tests ordered by doctors when I complained about the dizziness).
If you're not insanely obese, don't bother with fasting. The autophagy and "gut health" shit is a total meme as nobody has been able to confirm consistent autophagy in humans. The stress from fasting can also cause gut inflammation as fasts are broken.

            Anonymous

Autophagy is that thing that constantly happens, and any deficit increases autophagy. Lifting turns it up even more then fasting, cause if the systemic stress and adaptation needed. exercise increases autophagy in a more healthy manner.

and people with the most autophagy are cancer patients who lose weight due to their chemo. but fasting fanatics ignore those things

      >thinks OHP is a meme
weakgay dedected. it did wonders for my shoulders and triceps

        Anonymous

I think a lot of the power of the OHP comes from holding the weight overhead. In that respect, overhead squats and push-press can also be beneficial.

There's a reason people use push-press to get improve their strict press.

          Anonymous

the power comes from training the weakspot of OHP. at least in my experience. i do traing the rack position too. being able to hold 20-30kg more then your OHP makes the lift a lot easier, and helps with the power in the bottom of the lift

iirc push press helps a lot cause its so similar, and you can overload the lockout, but i dont have much experience with it.

            Anonymous

Hey thanks for the tip on the rack position, right at the bottom is where my reps fail.

              Anonymous

i do static holds, but it works wonders. i cant properly rack my OHP on my shoulders, so i have to hold it in my hands. and this is the solution i found. i hope it works for you too

    >get urge to throw up, but determined to hold it in
    >lye down on couch in absolute misery for 3 hours as it digested

needless to say, frick you whoever posted that infopost. there is no way they fricking ate onions before battle. they would have definitely lost

Memes aside, I did the 2day/week version together with oly lifts twice a week. So going from 5x5 to benching once every 2 week seems to be too little volume for a newbie like me. I did better on lower body lifts, because of snatching/cleaning, I guess. Also got covid in the meantime.
