What are IST's thoughts on weighted planks for abs? I'm currently doing the Reddit PPL routine and I do three sets of 30-60 second planks with a 10kg weight during deadlift and squat days. Right now I'm too fat for hanging leg raises and my gym doesn't have any ab wheel equipment.

>weighted planks for abs?
isometrics have almost 0 impact on hypertrophy. Do exercises like cable crunches in the 8-15 rep range
>Hypertrophying abs
What a moron
post body
It's totally irrelevant since visible abs is only a matter of body fat percentage.
Big meaty abs are unaesthetic and might cause postural imbalances. What only matters is core strength.
They never post
>t.beach body seething
Plus, why would rounding your back be bad for deadlift and squat but ok for working your abs ???
you Black folk DID start working out only for getting laid (turnover yet to be seen kek).
>this is supposed to be good
Now your turn
Hair's fine

lol, lmao even
>t. fat shit
Planks don't do shit. You only need situps with the hip flexors disengaged for good abs.
Planks work for removing move handles. Side planks also give you an adonis belt if performed heavy enough
>with the hip flexors disengaged
How to achieve this
Instead of having your feet weighed down you have something to pull against with your legs and you curl your back when you come up.
45lbs is fricking nothing for a plank
how to load more when you're too autistic to ask somebody at the gym to put plates on your back??
Ab wheel is literally the only ab exercise you need
Planks do work for hypertrophy but its no ideal. You should incorporate a "normal" exercise like a sit ups or leg raises. Personally weighted decline sit ups have been really good, as well as V-ups but that might be hard for a fatso. As a beginner doing planks on one day and 3-4 sets of a sit up or cable crunch the other ab day is probably a good place to start
Any bodyweight workout benefits from increased time/reps. There is no reason to add weight. You're better off doing 1 minute planks then switching immediately to 1 minute side planks on both sides than adding weight.
Also do flutter kicks with your shoulders off the ground to get better ab definition.
Ain't your butt not supposed to be shooting up in the air like that?

dogshit exercise imo i dont know what else to say
i literally dont feel anything in my abs before i stop my plank. and the reason for that is because i do weighed crunches with 50kg
its just terrible i dont know what else to say really. i mean doing planks is good if you want to increase your planking time but thats about it. my brother can plank twice as long as me yet he is complete dyel and does crunches with 10kg weight
didn't read, if you want abs do front squats and OHP. I've gained almost 15lbs (180-195) and still have visible abs. Didn't have them at 195 when I was a fat ass.
