I heard bowflex, although expensive is the best. The other brands if you drop them the wrong way get bent and won't adjust anymore

Think I narrowed it down between bow flex and these powerblock ones which are even more expensive.

My brother got these for Christmas. I didn’t like them, tbh. The way your hand is thrust inside it like a heavy cage is weird.

I have adjustable bow flex ones and they’re great

I've been using these for years with no problems. Get the ones that go up to 90lbs, that's pretty similar to a 2 plate bench. Just get a pull up bar and foldable bench and you're set.

These go up to 90lbs each? How does it work? They're on sale right now

You heard wrong. Bowflex are nowhere near the best nor are they particularly expensive in the >75 lbs adjustable market. That said, if all you can afford are 1090's, that is fine. They are totally reasonable.

What are some good dumbbells? Looking for adjustable ones that don’t take up a bunch of space.

Powerblocks Pro EXP's are more or less the benchmark, however they are about as bulky and awkward as they look. Do not do comparisons with shitty low end powerblocks, especially the non-expandable ones. Waste of time and money.
Nuobells are the hot new kid on the block. The big downside is they only go up to 80 lbs and no 2.5 lbs increment. However the form factor is by far the closest you'll get to fixed weight on an adjustable and the adjustment mechanism feels better than everyone else's.
Iron Master is also a decent consideration. They're not exactly like traditional adjustables as they are technically a plate-loading system, but with their quick-lock patent it is pretty fast. These used to be much more attractive until they hiked up the price and now they're just as expensive as everyone else. Still, if you are a supreme sperg that literally throws dumbbells around, these might be for you as they are the most indestructible out of the list as their mechanics are much simpler and thiccc.

Bowflex and nordictrak are the best. Don’t get the powerblock. Very hard to use

I got two of the 1090s for myself for Christmas. So far I love em. I’ve had the kettle bell for over a year and enjoyed it too. Just don’t fall for their gimmicks like the max trainer, that thing is a piece if shit that burned out in a year and kills your hips if you are tall. The bare bones sunny bike is perfect for cardio if you have a heart tracker.

I bought a pair of the 80lbs nuobells a few weeks ago. I have no complaints, they feel very solid, the weight adjust very smoothly, and they have a very satisfying click when changing weight.

Each plate is 5lbs? Or do they have the 2.5s for lifts like wrist curls or raises that move up slower?

It goes in 5lb increments, 5lbs at the lightest, 80lbs at the heaviest

Powerblocks are probably the leaders in the adjustable dumbbell market. They've been around a long time and are basically indestructible. Buy an expandable set. I ordered the knurled grips for mine so I can fit a wrist strap into them. They're a well made product but they don't feel the same as traditional dumbbells, but you get used to them.

I'll give it to ya straight. The best fast adjusting dumbells are gonna be your Iron masters, but you're gonna pay for them.
Powerblocks and the bowflex set are fine, just more fragile so set them down easy.

The real redpill is spin locks. You can put the money you saved into more weight and used the extra time changing weights to thank God for your life.

I hate the spin locks I have. Fine for curls and hacks but might as well be tipped with knives if you have to rest them on your knees to get into position for bench or press variations.

I've never had this problem and I use spinlocks constantly. Do you have a skin condition that makes your legs extra owwy?

        >the extra time changing weights
I can't believe people complain about this as much as they do. You have to rest a little between sets anyway. If it takes you more than a minute to change the weights then you're just being slow and/or lazy.
Spinlocks can't be beat when it comes to value. They are durable as hell because they are only made of thick solid pieces of metal. They are the cheapest option per pound and often the heaviest option for adjustable/loadable dumbbells unless you prefer olympic style or spend shitloads on Ironmaster or something fancy like that. Most spinlock brands have an option that goes up to 100 lbs per handle. I haven't seen any of the easy change types go higher than 90 but maybe I'm just not aware. I have yet to be convinced that any non-spinlock option provides as good a ratio of weight per dollar.

For sure man, I agree. I don't mind the extra time but it's one of the most common whines about them. The other is that they always come loose, they don't know to twist the plates not the spinny cog to tighten.

I'd go with the Ironmaster dumbbell handle and plates so that you can also adjust them to be kettlebells if you get the kettlebell handles.

Frick spin locks. Powerblocks are the best in my opinion due to ease of use. I've dropped them more than a few times and they've held up fine.

I hate the adjustable ones. If one disc is rotated off by a few millimeters you won't be able to turn the whole adjuster. The max is 52.5 lbs, which is great for ancillary lifts, but shit for any large muscle group. And the things are long which pushes my bench and shoulder press motion path out sideways. I used them at my Dad's over Christmas and they suck. I'd rather buy a bar and some bumper weights.

    Tomboys are for
    Getting in fights with her
    Playing sports with her
Watching kung-fu movies with her and trying to copy the moves
Teasing her and laughing when she gets mad and pouts
Letting her pin you so you can feel her body pressed against yours
Flipping her back over so that you can stare into each other's eyes
Protecting her from bullies even though you know she can handle herself
Cheering her on and always supporting her, win or lose
Throwing her a victory barbeque where you make all her favorite foods
Massaging their legs, shoulders, and back
Holding them close and telling her you love her
Reassuring her that she is the most beautiful girl in the world when she gets jealous of the more feminine girls
Accepting all of her girlish sensibilities, no matter how much she hates you finding out about them
    Patting her head
Getting caught in the rain during a cross country run and having to huddle together with her under an abandoned bus stop waiting for it to pass
    Holding her hand in public
Making her try on cute dresses when you're out on a date even though you know she'll never buy one
Buying her sexy black lace lingerie, only for her to wear spats over them
Tracing your finger over the tanlines she got during the summer and feeling how warm her skin is
Having her jump into your arms and kiss you after spending time apart over vacation
    Introducing her to your parents
    Marriage
Carrying her over the threshold of your new home to start a life together while she punches you in the shoulder and pouts that she can walk just fine herself
Gently laying her down on the bed
Whispering into her ear how much she means to you while caressing her toned body
Spending an entire night making passionate love to each other
Raising a new generation of tomboys with
Loving unconditionally as you grow old together
These are the things that tomboys are for

    >you will never help a tomboy study for her big test so she gets a good enough grade to stay on the team

I'm new to ISTness and I just got Sunny Health Olympic dumbbell bars, Lockjaw Collars and Cap plates. Then I can also just use the Lockjaws and plates with any other bar I might get in the future. And I also have an adjustable bench. Did I do okay, IST?
