What causes and are these white plaques on my tonsils?
They are slimy and can be removed when directly targeted, but will stay after brushing or rinsing my mouth with water.
They are not tonsil stones

You have tonsillitius. It's usally viral so has no cure.

They used to remove the tonsils of people who were prone to it but I think they have now decided that that was more dangerous then just letting you get it.

should i just wait it out?
I don't have any discomfort or trouble eating

Tonsillitis, which can be caused by a bunch of viruses, influenza, covid, etc. if its causesd by a bacteria, it's probably strep throat

strep throat will feel like a really bad sore throat, a week of antibiotics will knock it out though

I get them sometimes, and I just dig them out with a fork or something. Stop caring about every little thing, they are not the reason you don't have a gf

It looks like there is some inflamation of the tonsils (red and lightly swollen). Additionally the white stuff is probably mostly dead white blood cells that caught and encapsulated bacteria and then accumulated in the tonsil crypts.
Even if you dont have any discomfort besides having those tonsil stones in the crypts, you should look into getting rid of the bacteria that causes them. Salt water gugrling and chamomila tea with honey helped me. In my case the inflammation became chronic and i got my tonsils removed two years ago, no regrets though.

You need antibiotics anon unless you want your tonsils to get infected then infect your entire throat
