Ok but what do you eat?

      >Ok but what do you eat?
Meats, fruits, vegetables, nuts, fish. Theres a lot to go around
      >berries, forest fruits, tropical fruits
      >leafy greens, root vegetables
      >corn products, potato products
      >chicken, beef, turkey, pork, eggs
      >fish and seafood: tuna and cod, salmon and rock fish
      >almonds and peanuts, cashews and pistachios and seeds
If it's not enough theres always expensive gluten and dairy free alternatives

sounds like a bunch of bullshit to me. I'm not fricked in the head because I eat cheese and put milk in my coffee.

Then you aren't one of the 1 in 3 with dairy sensitivity. Not an outright allergy, but enough to trigger an acute allergic response affecting the gut and brain. Its not for everyone, just for the ill

Pants on head moronic. Your body needs carbs and whole grains, how is depriving yourself of gluten supposed to help your brain? Cutting out sugar sure, but there's nothing wrong with whole wheat bread.

gluten free whole grains are a thing bro. you can get everything you need without gluten

Diet is pretty individual. I know people who can live on breads, candy and fast food with no ill effects.

Some people are more sensitive and need to cut out dairy, glutens and/or all lectins in extreme cases. Could be leaky gut or something unknown, I'm not qualified to diagnose.

Feel free to give all the popular diets a shot and see how you feel. You might need to cut certain foods as you age.

this is true, and the interesting thing about this approach is it takes people with similar symptoms and recommends them a similar cure.

If you actually wanted to discuss the book, Mark has done nothing new and basically just repackaged other diets (Atkins, Paleo, Plant Paradox) with some flaws such as allowing Lectins in people with obvious gut issues.

I'd recommend a strict Plant Paradox diet to people with Depression/Anxiety and obviously exercise/proper sleep hygiene.

I can tell I'm getting old because zoomers are now "rediscovering" old knowledge.

So he's like the Jordan Peterson of dieting? That's still good, and still has its place, and is still necessary. A lot of people wouldn't know this without him. The world is constantly changing and the information needs to be refreshed.
As for your Plant Paradox, my quick google search isn't yielding popular results, if you want to enlighten me maybe.

            >So he's like the Jordan Peterson of dieting
Sure, he gets a few things wrong that would effect people on the sensitive side of the diet spectrum.

            >google search isn't yielding popular results
The Plant Paradox - Steven R Gundry
You can find it free on libgen etc.
Basically an actual doctor (heart surgeon) who switched to a nutrition based approach in his practice after finding out he could reverse heart disease with diet and render surgery unnecessary. IMO he's on the cutting edge of microbiome and diet research ahead of even the carnivore doctors.

If you personally feel find, eat whatever you want to hit your macros and enjoy life tho. No need to for restrictive diets while you're young and healthy.

I dont know. I've had some very minor slight anxiety issues that I just dont want to develop. Maybe for me adding some vitamins and supplements, cutting sugar and the like would be enough. I can kind of see where Mark's point with gluten and dairy come in, and I can live without gluten but milk is just so basic and essential its hard to replace. The other guy is right that if a diet is so restrictive you need supplements to make up for it, it can't be all that solid.

Dairy is essential for bone health. There's no way around this, and no adequate substitutes.

Fish oils are a scam, and you shouldn’t need multivitamins on a proper diet.

How are fish oils a scam? Theres literally mountains of research on this. I can get being against one thing or another, but fish oils working is the least radical take there is

I think Mark Hyman is full of shit

      >Calcium (600 to 800 mg daily) and magnesium (400 to 600 mg a day)
      >Vitamin D3 (2,000 to 4,000 units a day)
      >Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA in a ratio of 300/200; 1,000 mg twice a day)
      >Methylation factors: Folate (800 mcg), B6 (50 mg), and B12 (1,000 mcg daily). Often, special activated forms of these nutrients are needed to be most effective for brain health
      >Probiotics or beneficial bacteria to improve your digestion, reduce food allergies, and reduce gut inflammation
Is all the doctor asks for

        >you should sleep 8 hours a day
        >you should get enough vitamins
How absolutely moronic do you have to be that someone else needs to tell you these things?

Let me put it like this: if your diet forces you to restrict food so much that you need supplements to stay nourished, then theres a fricking problem. A multivitamin and Omega 3 is one thing, but now you need vitamin D and calcium and this and that too? Its bullshit. Just drink milk it's not going to give you anxiety and it's not going to give you dementia. Its fricking milk. If you want to cut gluten then sure, but come on use your fricking head here.

The rising cases in depression and anxiety are a new phenomenon that people are desperately looking for answers for. It's an enemy without a face, more overbearing and burdening than any most physical ailments. Its crippling and overwhelming. The pills are predatory, the doctors don't have a solid grasp on it. The keys to the answer are within the mind and body, the two most complex and least understood systems in the entire universe. The science behind it is constantly changing and the study of it is influenced by a million variables. People want to put their faith in a cure, they'll find their book, their diet, their routine, and their savior. If the reviews and stories are to be believed, although they differ so much there is success. Maybe its having faith in something that pulls people together and makes them stable. I dont know.

so why are the elderly told to drink almond and onions milk instead? because milk will kill them. why do you want something that will eventually kill you in your body?

I'm just going to say it: unless you have a real deficiency, taking supplements beyond a multivitamin is weird and unnecessary.
