I just went to a chiropractor. The dude said no amount of stretches and exercises at home would fix my posture and I would need treatment to loosen up my upper back and neck. Is he playing me?
How about going to a real doctor like a traumatologist?
Deadhangs + Bird Dogs + Wall Sits, simple.
Obviously the guy has no medical training under his belt and is lying to you sad to see that name being dragged down to the dirt.
He went to town on my lower traps and the tendons in front of my neck. They do feel looser.
He wants me to get some xrays. I'll give him another session and see how it goes.
overly complicated way to fix posture. he's right in that in APT people have tight hip flexors, but they should be strengthened and not stretched(90/90 hip stretch is an exception tho). just do BSS and your hips will get great mobility aswell as being strong. if you just stretch that shit you just get a temporary relief, and would have to stretch daily to keep the illusion of fixing your problem. add any deadbug variation you can do and/or pallof press thrice a week and your APT is fixed. upper cross syndrome(aka kyphosis aka fwd head aka rounded shoulders) is fixed by

do that every day, well, except the last one which should be 3 times a week. my kyphosis and rounded shoulders + forward head is almost gone after a month of this
i wasted 2 years on stretching for posture and not only did it not work it was also terribly boring. im not saying to stay away from stretching, im just saying you dont need to stretch for an hour a day and being terribly bored to fix your posture. if you want to stretch heres 3 i find actually really good.
I started stretching to fix my posture and I figured if you're gonna do stretches that help your back you might as well just stretch the rest of your body, so I am doing a fully body stretching routine every morning but I try to keep it short so I don't do any of the holds that you need to do for ages. I feel quite a difference.
do lots of yoga and just stretch in general, make it a goal to be able to one day be able to do the splits and sit in full lotus, I have fixed alot of my spinal problem just by doing this.
Notice girls that did dancing all their life have perfect posture and they can all do the splits etc, it's just like lifting, work on those flexibility gains, there is no one exercise that will cure all.
Once you learn how to stretch properly you will just know what to do, there is a certain sensation you should feel when stretching, similar to getting a massage, your body knows exactly what muscles need to be stretched and where, just follow "the method" and you will get results.
Avoid sitting in chairs and opt for sitting on the ground instead, chairs wreck havoc on your posture and spine, either be standing, sitting on the ground or lying down.
go to the doctor and confirm that you actually have kyphosis, and not scheuermann's disease, because even though people with those look similar, scheuermann's disease is a totally different thing, and some exercises that might seem beneficial, are dangerous and harmful
Why are there so many retards in this thread? Stretches are not enough. Also the pic related is kyphosis not anterior pelvic tilt. Lastly dead gangs are absofuckinglutely not enough. No idea where that meme came from. >face pulls >y raises >band pull aparts
Sure, stretches only take care of the tight muscles and not of the weak ones but usually "stretches" for posture still encompass actual exercises even if the term isn't fitting. Also, from what I have read tight fascia that builds around tight muscles is stronger than the muscles pulling the other way (so to speak), so only training weak muscles does not help either, it always needs to be a combination of stretching and exercising.
