The old food pyramid with a little bit more protein like lean meat, fish, and dairy if you want to build muscle. Ignore schizoids who don't understand the food pyramid and don't get that you're barely supposed to consume any sugar or sweets with that model, which is one of the main causes of modern obesity.

That isn't even the main complaint I hear about the food pyramid. If anything people complain that it doesn't recommend eating more fat (fat is on the same level as sugar and sweets iirc). So if anything it seems like you agree with it.

you sheepishly think that sugar makes you fat, so the food pyramids should've encouraged much more sugar than recommended

          (1) People die of eating liver from vitamin A poisoning. If you don't die right away, you will get diseases later.
          (2) Vitamin A breaks down into retinoic acid which is a chemotherapy drug and causes severe birth-defects. It destroys your stem cells and causes acne.

Ehhh beef is fantastic but you’re better off eating mostly chicken, THEN lean beef, then pork. Chicken is not only cheaper than beef, but way less fatty. The best balance I’ve found (granted I’m currently cutting) is chicken 5 days a week, beef 2, pork on special occasions. Unless you’re eating 90+ lean beef (which is expensive af) the fat:protein isn’t worth it more than a few days a week. Ig if you’re single it could work better because you’re only shopping for one person but when you’ve got a family it’s way less practical.

        Anonymous

You know there's so much more than macronutrients right? Chicken is very low in micronutrients, it's basically equivalent to protein powder. You should be eating red meat as often as possible.

You could, but again from a cost perspective, as well as a caloric perspective, you could also take vitamins. $60 in vitamins will last you 3 months if you buy in bulk. Believe me, once the cut is done I’ll be eating plenty more beef but it’s way more practical to eat chicken

          [...]
Whole grains have higher nutrient content, more fibres, antioxidants and vitamins.

You're soaking for at least 5 days, right anon? Otherwise you're still loading up on antinutrients.

          >Soaking and germinating grains is a good idea, but it does not eliminate phytic acid completely. Significant amounts of phytic acid will remain in most sprouted grain products. For example, malting reduces wheat, barley or green gram phytic acid by 57 percent. However, malting reduces anti-nutrients more than roasting.36 In another experiment, malting millet also resulted in a decrease of 23.9 percent phytic acid after 72 hours and 45.3 percent after 96 hours.37

          >In legumes, sprouting is the most effective way to reduce phytic acid, but this process does not get rid of all of it. Germinating peanuts led to a 25 percent reduction in phytates. After five days of sprouting, chick peas maintained about 60 percent of their phytate content and lentils retained about 50 percent of their original phytic acid content. Sprouting and boiling pigeon pea and bambara groudnut reduced phytic acid by 56 percent.38 Germinating black eyed beans resulted in 75 percent removal of phytate after five days sprouting.

      Same source:

"However, phytic acid is also labeled an antinutrient because humans lack the phytase enzyme needed to break it down. As it passes through the gut, phytic acid binds to minerals like iron, zinc, and calcium so they are not well-absorbed in the intestine. This will occur only when phytic acid is eaten with foods containing these minerals at the same meal. The average Western diet usually has enough nutrients and variety to protect from a true deficiency, especially with the inclusion of some animal proteins (e.g., lean pork, poultry, shellfish) that are rich in zinc and heme-iron, a well-absorbed form of iron. A nutrient deficiency more likely occurs in developing countries where a variety of food choices is limited, the risk of malnutrition is higher, and legumes or whole grains are staples that are eaten with every meal. Also at risk are those who eat a vegan diet (which not only consists of plenty of seeds/nuts, legumes, and grains but these foods contain poorly absorbed non-heme iron), or those who already have an iron or zinc deficiency due to medical reasons."

a normal, balanced diet that includes 100 g of carbs (not more, not less), 100 g of animal protein, and many different vegetables

  16. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

The healthiest diet is the one that:
    1) meets the calorie requirement to maintain your goal weight based on your sex and height
    2) is roughly 35% protein, 45% carbs and 20% fat in terms of where your calories comes from
    3) meets or exceeds all micronutient requirements
    4) and is affordable, tasty, easy and quick enough to make to fit your schedule.

    Generally this means:
    1) drinking more water than alcohol, soft drinks, coffee/tea, milk and juice combined
    2) regularly eating as many different kinds of fruits and vegetables (fresh or frozen) as possible.
2.5) remember that variety as important as quantity. it's ok to just eat a bunch of carrots if that's all that you have but it's much better to eat a bit of carrots, a bit of peas, a bit of broccoli, etc.
    3) choosing whole grains over processed grains, i.e. whole wheat bread over white bread, steel cut oats instead of instant oats, etc.
    4) making sure that the dairy you're eating isn't just higher fat whole milk or cheese but low-fat dairy products like cottage cheese or greek yogurt for example
    5) Limiting higher fat "red" meat like beef and pork to 2-3 days a week and eating more lean meats like chicken, turkey, fish and other seafood most days a week.
5.5) making sure animal protein makes up at most a little over half of protein consumption. usually this can by done by regularly eating foods like eggs, legumes/pulses, tofu, nuts, peas, etc.
    6) avoiding as much as possible alcohol, added salt, added sugar, cholesterol, and trans fats

Oxidized oils are legitimately bad, you can process oils to maintain freshness but they are still oxidized and thus have the same effects as oxidized oils. (Not just seed oils, oxidized olive oil is also disgusting tasting. If I had a source of freshly pressed seed oils I would consume them but I dont.

It’s actually awful. The sad part is, sometimes people keep an old bottle and think that’s how olive oil is supposed to taste, and thus don’t consume it, so they miss out on the very healthy source of fat that olive oil is, and reject the plethora of dishes and side dishes that are healthy and delicious that have olive oil.

it's actually a weird thing, same as that dry aged shit, i guess some people just like the taste of rancid foods, and sneed oils usually have a copious amount of added deodorizer to remove the smell

              Anonymous

You do realise that seed oils are extremely unstable and spoil very quickly? That is also the main issue with them, animal fats and butter are quite stable, seed oils are not and will cause issues in your body.
Also, that is why rapeseed oil for example is burned with chemicals and deodorants, its spoiled when it leaves the factory but it doesn't smell like anything and won't start really smelling no matter how long its on the shelf. Should tell you something.
              >processed shit precisely because they don't go rancid like butter
Butter doesn't go rancid all that quickly, it keeps for a year if kept properly.
              >despite seeing that every single day in almost every single processed food product with shelf lives of years

    For maximum longevity and health:

Consume lots of veggies. The more variety the better.
For protein, focus on seafood, chicken, and dairy.
Beef, pork, a goat are ok in moderation. They contain a sugar molecule called nu5gc that causes inflammation in your cardiovascular system - so don't consume them more than once or twice a week
The only oils you should consume are olive, avocado, and coconut.
Fruit should be limited to once a week, and you should only consume what is in season in your locale.

    Do not eat fried foods.
    Do not eat charred meat.
Do not eat anything that comes out of a box.

It's almost as if restricting one macro is what alleviates metabolic issues. That fat and carbs in the diet cross-inhibit one another causing inflammation and a negative feedback loop of elevated blood sugar and insulin resistance.
Nah, can't be that. One of them just has to be the cause of all modern ailments.

Fricking nutritional tribalism is absolutely pathetic.

When overfeeding on carbohydrate in the absence of dietary fat the body will first entirely fill up all glycogen stores, then significantly ramp up dietary thermogenesis and unconscious non-exercise activity thermogenesis and then finally begin the taxing process of de novo lipogenesis to convert carbs into fat.

A varied diet that contains everything but highly processed food. Any restrictive diet that tries to completely cut out a major natural food is shit. Vegan, Keto, Carnivore, they all suck ass. Eat veggies, lean meat, potatoes, fish, lentils, eggs, dairy, fruit and everything else that doesn't come from a chemical manufacturing plant and you'll be the healthiest. This is boring, but it's the truth.

Nice mainstream wisdom dude. You sure are special. It's not like we have never heard this take before.
It's not a good idea to encourage people with metabolic issues to follow your advice, see:

It's almost as if restricting one macro is what alleviates metabolic issues. That fat and carbs in the diet cross-inhibit one another causing inflammation and a negative feedback loop of elevated blood sugar and insulin resistance.

Just a normal pre-industrial diet specific to your culture. If you're of European descent that would consist of meat, bread or pasta, seasonal vegetables and fruits, butter or olive oil; milk, cheese and yogurt; eggs, pulses, broth etc.

You can add "novel" foods that your ancestors never ate (like bananas, coconut oil, etc) on a case by case basis.

Just eat a diet that is balanced with everything. Don't eat too much sugar or processed food. Why do Americans hate vegetables so much that they invent reasons like Antinoooootrients to avoid eating them and indulge in fat.
Your country will collapse under the weight of your fatties.

It’s a diet where the goal is to hit your micros as well as possible without supplements. You can adjust the meals based on whether you want to gain, lose, or maintain. If you have IBS or any gut issues most people report it helps a great deal.
Here is an example day from when I did it:
        >breakfast
        2eggs
        tab butter
        1/4c cheddar
        4baby carrots
        10almonds
        1c Greek yogurt
        2oz cranberry juice
        3g beta-alanine
        3g citruline malate
        Vitamin D pill
        >lunch
        6oz steak
        1c rice
        3brazil nuts
        Smoothie:
        4oz OJ
        1c spinach
        1/2 lemon, juiced
        >Dinner
        6oz steak
1c rice or 1 sweet potato
        Smoothie: same as above
        This comes to ~1800kcal
As a rule of thumb you salt everything. You can obviously have more variety on it I just try to keep things as simple as possible.

    STOP DRINKING MILK

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4809873/

    >Foods that contain exorphins, such as wheat and dairy products, have indeed a reputation for being rewarding and people find it extremely hard to give them up. The addictive properties of milk were arguably designed by evolution to gratify suckling young. The gut of newborns is highly permeable—not only to the mother’s antibodies as an aid to their still immature immune system, but also to milk opioids (see Teschemacher, 2003). Yet, production of the enzyme for properly digesting milk is genetically programmed to stop after weaning. Regular intake of milk by adults is evolutionarily novel and only started with animal domestication; it was permitted by a mutation of this enzyme in populations that kept cattle. Interestingly and perhaps worryingly, the opioids in bovine milk are 10 times stronger than those in human milk (Herrera-Marschitz et al., 1989). This might not be extraneous to the fact that about half of children up to 4 years of age need their milk bottle to fall asleep at night (in Thailand: Sawasdivorn et al., 2008). Note that, as mentioned, the opioids in wheat are even stronger than those in bovine milk (Zioudrou et al., 1979).

    >Evidence that a diet devoid of wheat (and possibly of dairy as well, given the similarity between gluten and casein) can cure some patients with mental illness has been available for nearly 50 years. Yet because other patients—especially in newer and better studies—have not changed on the diet, such evidence has been variously downplayed, discredited, or dismissed. As a result, the message has made it neither to patients and their caretakers nor to psychologists and psychiatrists. After looking at all of these dietary intervention studies, we have come to believe that this lack of communication is a mistake.

    Look at the food pyramid.
Realize its zog propaganda and is therefore intended to harm you.
Realize that since it was created that obesity has skyrocketed.
Invert it to get the actual reality.
Except oil. Don't actually consume 10+ servings of oil, that can stay the smallest.

      >lol, also just to remind you, this has been studied and tested and low-fat diet restricting cholesterol just achieved more morbidity and nothing else

      >Well actually the scientists adjusted the data to account for a limited number of specifically chosen confounding variables and found that the associated hazard ratio of increased saturated fat and cholesterol in the diet was higher by 30%. So if you have a 0.01% percent chance of dying of a heart attack/stroke each year, that rises to 0.013%. Bet you feel real stupid now, don't you.
