This happened to me as well. Biggest mistake ever. Never get fat. It was only 2 years as well. Have you been skinny for 3 years or just trying to get skinny for 3 years? I think you have to not just be skinny but eat low carbs.

yup. being a skeleton is 100x better than being even slightly overweight. only exception is maybe if your living or work situation calls for some extra pounds to get by, still though, the world and human relationships are based on impressions and perceptions, and those are determined 90% of the time by looks and narcissistic confidence.

Only a good advice if you are also young and innocent. Otherwise, you are creating an imbalance in the marriage. After a few years she'll grow up and want to leave you to be independent and make her own choices, same way that kids leave their parents.

it's realist. most people live as if they will never die, which is a good way to make sure your actual life on this earth only turns out pathetic and miserable.

          Anonymous

Most people would actually turn this "realism" into the catalyst for them to become drug addicted morons, because "you gotta die some day".

            Anonymous

Or they realise their time is limited on earth and not waste time. Most people live like they have a shit load of time, when in fact they don't. Time is the only resource that you can't hustle for, so make sure you spend it wisely.

            Anonymous

"most people" sounds like you. Everyone is aware of their own mortality, you can choose to run yourself into the ground as fast as possible over it if you really want to but that isn't what most people do.

That's not pessimism, it is certain. Knowing you will die does mean giving up on life, living in constant existential dread, or resorting to nihilism. It means knowing that our time here is brief and not guaranteed. Contemplating your death can help you reorganize your priorities and live life with appreciation and urgency. Once you make peace with death, life is easier.

I needed it in my early twenties. When you're spoiled and told by your parents to let them take care of everything, you really make a habit of being useless. It's more saying "who's got your back if you don't?" Self sufficiency. Goal setting and obtainment and all that. If it's never taught or shocked into you, it's really easy to float through a mediocre existence.

You'd be surprised how many people look around for someone like big daddy government to unfrick their lives

        Anonymous

People unhappy with their lives are waiting for some magical event or person to come and force them to succeed, like a mainc pixie dream girl. After so many main character movies/shows where the MC is just a dopey blank slate loser but somehow the world conforms to them and they get everything they ever want, this messaging enters the subconscious mind of someone who is unhappy, and they subconsciously think "some event will happen that will change me, until then, I'll just keep doing what I'm doing", and they imagine a better future without putting any effort into their lives.
"No one is coming to save you" throws it in your face, saying that you will continue your life as-is and nothing will change and you will get old and die unhappy unless YOU are the one who puts in the effort into your life.

I don't know who tom platz is, but that style of thinking has gotten me way farther in life than anyone ever expected. 15 seconds at a time until you do something once, and if you did it once you can do it again. There are no great achievements in life, everything you've ever done is just proof of what you can do and a stepping stone for the next thing. I hope to god when I'm old and dying I die without that one thing I did one time to be remembered by because not doing it again is a far greater failure than never doing it at all.

When I get a bj and I want to touch the titty I lean back with my hips to be able to reach and the girl can’t give me a bj and it ruins the moment. Never thought of that before it happened.

Honestly when I learned this, it was a profound spiritual moment for me, perhaps the strongest in my life. Not sure why it took so long for me to learn it either. My religion (Mormons lmao) has so much pointing to that truth, but I don't know why it isn't said more plainly, other than that it might upset the fats. The concept isn't anything new, and must be a core spiritual truth as it has been taught for thousands of years by many different religions.

Even the ultimate and final moment in the secret/sacred Mormon temple ritual can be interpreted to teach that you need to not be fat and be physically fit and morally clean to have priesthood power and become a god. Many are still fat and waddle into church on Sunday. It just doesn't enter into their hearts the same way I guess.

As an able bodied man, At a minimum, I need to be able to run and not be weary, and since making those changes, my life has never been better.

That's a very basic summary. I could, and probably will in the future, give a 30 minute sermon on this topic.

        For a related scripture:

        Isaiah 40:28-31
        28 Do you not know?
        Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
        and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord
        will renew their strength.
        They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

Drop the shopped chad memes for a minute and be real with me. Why the frick do you continue to participate in a church whose sole purpose is to separate laymen from their money? Why do you accept "prophets" who pressured underage girls into plural marriages (Smith and co), claimed blacks could not have the priesthood until a convenient revelation reversed the policy (1979 declaration), practiced folk magic and sorcery, (Jupiter amulet, seer stones, prophet sticks, etc), changed doctrine multiple times to suit their narratives (polygamy, Word of Wisdom), required members to swear to commit suicide if they revealed what they saw in the endowment ceremony (blood tokens, oath of vengeance), and committed massive financial fraud and misdirection using members' tithing donations, which are hoarded in a fund totalling over $125 billion (Ensign Peak Holdings), especially when wards average a six-figure sum in tithing donations per year yet have yearly budgets averaging just $5,000?

You smile and go through the motions during Sunday services, drink your cup of tap water and chew your piece of whitebread, try not to notice how wards are combining and members are either moving out or starting not to show up, grin and bear with the assignments to clean the church, for free, on your weekend off, try to make yourself think that the "burning in the breast" you feel when you listen to a song you really like is totally different from the one you feel when someone gives a talk with the right dramatic pauses and anecdotes thrown in, you listen to another Conference where the GAs rumble about separating wheat from tares and staying on the covenant path despite their claims not too long ago that the church would cover the whole earth, you ignore the fact that membership statistical data is becoming increasingly difficult to access for lay members, you read the gospel topic essays and convince yourself that admitting there is no evidence of any israeli-descended ancient civilization in America doesn't mean the BoM is incorrect and that Smith really just used that Egyptian manuscript as a "catalyst" to receive the Pearl of Great Price despite quietly-retracted official statements to the contrary, you turn a blind eye to reports of sexual abuse the church allowed to continue in the name of protecting its reputation, you remember how few convert baptisms actually are performed in your area and how few of those converts actually continue to attend, you deliberately ignore the part of the Word of Wisdom that OKs beer for consumption and historical accounts of Smith drinking alcohol on the night of his death, you just dumbly accept your own church leadership taking you and your family's money for decades and using it to buy shopping malls when they aren't busy hoarding it in shell corporations all over the world, and you tell yourself that you know - the church - is true, in the face of mountains, of oceans of evidence to the contrary?
              Why?

Decent post. Echoed how I feel about my Granddad's Christian church I went to last Sunday. A whole lot of feel-good music and praise of Jesus with not much substance, and a lot more whooping and hollering, and falling on the floor. God would more readily have been found sitting on the bench outside watching the birds and the clouds.

Your leaders have a special secret ceremony (second annointing/calling and election made sure) that guarantees them a slot in the celestial kingdom regardless of what sins they commit in life short of murder. They don't give a frick about you and see you as a paypig for their hundred billion dollar slush find.
You'll be sorely disappointed when you go through the endowment and realize it's a load of ridiculous nonsense that implies Adam obeyed one of Satan's commands. Be sure to pay attention when you perform the funny gestures over your neck and chest, they're remnants of a now-removed part of the ceremony where you swear to slit your throat, cut your heart out, and disembowel yourself if you reveal what you see.

Eh, I don't care if its all made up. I like the romanticism and mysticism. I liken it to the orthodox understanding of knowing that God is unknowable despite our efforts vs the catholic rationalism of Thomas Aquinas. We can always learn and grow and there is something good about that, regardless of personal reservations.

I get that, I'm not blind that the church isn't using thithes effectively. They care more about Africans than the Ephraimites who restored the church. I have two friends who were not given assistance despite asking for help. There's a telegram about the ethnic part of the religion that is going unmentioned nowadays and I can take solace that some members haven't lost their minds.
I'll post the link if you are interested, but you probably aren't.

I don't want to derail the thread more than I already have, but in regards to the priesthood ban, it served the same purpose as polygamy; it made Utah a better place, and therefore the church and mormon corridor in general and the positive effects linger today. But remember that it only banned Black Africans (so for example Australian Abos were not banned). One reason genealogy is so big is because everybody had to prove they had no African blood for 8 generations. But miscegenation just feels wrong. I saw a couple of an old white dudes with old Asian women and it did not look right. The proof there is in the pudding, and half-breeds rarely look right. That alone is it's own curse.

I might be only 23 but this is what I try to keep in mind in life.
We judge others by their actions, but ourselves by our intentions. If you're lifting for health, lower the weights, increase volume and add in calisthenics to your gym routine. Your daydreams will always pale next to real life, try to let life and people surprise you, don't underestimate the happiness in real life. Take the Luke Smith pill and let go of illusions of grandeur, big changes are made by being a good influence to your direct environment first. Love your friends, family and partner. The biggest gift someone can give you is their time. True love and happiness exist, but you have to be honest and genuine, being bitter or ironic won't cut it. The average person is kinda dumb, half of the population is necessarily dumber than that. Learn about politics, but in reality 90% of your life depends entirely on you.
Lift weights responsibly. Read the Bible and classic books. Touch grass. Don't drink and smoke. Take care of your skin. Focus on improving your immediate environment instead of praying for a huge top-down change. People are not all bad, but bad people do exist, try to pity them. Love is real and I hope we'll all be together in Heaven, brothers.

You can be about as happy as you want to be

    Happiness is only a habit

Do not listen to what women say they want, observe what women react to

Stop "shadow boxing" or "think tanking" your strategy, and learn by doing. Preparation will only get you so far.

Surround yourself with good people, who have success in their crosshairs and want the best possible outcome for you.

Always have open communication in your relationship and talk about or at least make room for what you really want and care about. Never put yourself down for pussy, it will leave you miserable and women may take advantage of that, they can smell it

Always be good with your boss and co-workers, you don't have to be best buddies but it will help you out more than you can imagine in the long run. Don't give out sensible data about yourself out freely to them, only let them know what you want them to.

    >motivations and inspirations are memes, you need discipline to keep long-term habits
    >keep checking whether something you're doing is sustainable or not. if something is taking more out of you than youre getting out of it, its not sustainable, and experimenting to find ways to fix that is a priority. sounds obvious, but i see it as a skill that can be improved
    >"rock bottom" just means youve gone as low as youre willing to let youself sink. there isnt a literal, definitive bottom you can reach where shit will just stop getting worse on its own. it can and will always get worse if you dont start building yourself up

      >motivations and inspirations are memes, you need discipline to keep long-term habits

I feel like too many anons think being disciplined means having to constantly "overcome hardships" or "not like what you're doing but do it anyway". Shit like that will burn you out mentally. There's literally no argument against making the things as easy as possible for yourself.

true- motivations and inspirations are great boosts, but trying to build habits off of those alone wont work
        >not like what youre doing and do it anyways
thats why the sustainability part is important- that was just another way of saying to get good at checking whether what youre doing is draining you or improving your life overall

        >stay disciplined
        >stop caring

its generic grindset talk because its also common sense- have structure while working towards what you want and learn to not worry about shit you cant do anything about.
