Lat pulldowns. Just don't be a weak, overweight piece of shit and do pull-ups. Simple as.

Based. If you can't do a pull-up, you should just have a nice day.

I don't do lat pulldowns, but if your goal is to isolate lats then it's better than pullups. Also its an advanced exercise, need good mmc to do it properly.

      Deadlifts

My lower back feels like a goddamn brick wall from doing deadlifts, will probably prevent many injuries down the road

Sumo diddlies. Only work your nonce muscle, nothing more

Agree with this, shittier form and rom just so you can throw more weight on the bar

Dumbbell flies. Doesn't work the pec in any capacity nor any more than doing the motion with your bare hands. Weight just increases the stress on your shoulder in the stretched position which is an injury risk. EMG backs me up too if basic physics about gravity isn't enough for you, since nothing is pulling against you when you bring two dumbbells together.

On a cable machine it's one of the best things for the chest, because there's actually resistance.

dumbell flies. machine or cables are much better cause you always have 100% muscle tension

      Agree with this too

doing anything on the smith machine

Don't use the smithy but I disagree with this, it's good for low weight high rep work and you can push yourself to a point of hypertrophy that would be less safe with free weights

      Any stretch or cardio

Lmao. Straight and curved bar are dogshit but there's these attachments where your hands grip in an angled but largely neutral way that are unreal, one of the finest isolation exercises ever when done that way.

      I tend to agree here.

Cannot figure out what abductor-adductor machines are for. Doesn't grow jack shit but gives me doms from hell.

These are great, they're these small muscles in the inside and outside of your upper leg area or whatever it's called. I love taking them away from wxmen

      Isolation forearm work.

I don't do any currently, but it used to be a fun way to end a workout and felt great

    Deadlifts

I've seen a lot of pro strongmen say that regular folks shouldn't even attempt deadlifts that it is not worth the risk of injury.

        What's the alternative? Roman chair?

Diddly-lifts work a lot of muscles at once, they're far from overrated, just may be risky.

Some of then recommended using that hexagon bar if you still wanted to do deadlifts.

They are deep, deep in the hole if they think its the exercise and not the moronic amount of weight that they're pulling that's dangerous. Their perception of what the average person can deadlift is off.

        >a lot of pro strongmen
Literally only Oberst has said this and it's a cope because he's known to have a weak deadlift relative to his competition.

Eddie hall said it too, he's actually the one that recommends to use the hex bar for dead lift if you're a regular gym goer.

Deadlifts fixed my posture and cured my back pain.

Actually most of them said the main reason why people should avoid it was because of the "technical skill" and "proper mechanics" is too difficult to perform for regular people especially at higher weights. That's why they recommend the hexagon bar.

It is not bad advice at all though. I've seen so many frick up their backs trying to flex on deadlift.

Deadlifting is not only safe but incredibly beneficial as long as you are responsible with it.
        >Stop deadlifting if you feel something is about to go bad in your back
        >Don't let deadlifts down slowly
        >Don't always do low rep sets
        >Don't always try to increase weight

I don't care. I'm going to keep deadlifting and I will shake the floor when I smash the plates on the ground after every rep you homosexual cuck,

Arnold press. It's not a useless exercise, just a pointless, inferior variation of the normal shoulder press. When I see someone doing it,I instantly know they don't understand biomechanics.

    >inb4 But Arnold did it!!!
Yeah when you have elite genetics and blast all the roids under the sun, then you can maybe get away with doing an inferior movement

      Anonymous

Please explain the biomechanics that make it strictly inferior. My impression is that one sacrifices a little front delt force production for a minor degree of rear delt activity, which is a bodybuilding win.
