What is the strat on walking shoes?

What is the strat on walking shoes?

My new gig has me walking indoors 6ish miles a day, nothing fast or on rough terrain and shit but my feet are killing me in my normal "work" shoes so I need to find a shoe type with arch support or insole strats so I can walk 6 or 7 hours straight without my shit being in pain or getting blisters

Everyone online is just women power walking or some shit but are there any good trusted brands or things I can do to help, it's mostly pain in my heels that are getting me after like the 4-5 hour mark

your feet will get used to it eventually

get some high cushioning hokas tho

I mean I assume they are going to start hurting less over time but also I figure I need to do some preventative measures or else any deformities in my feet will just get way worse or I will get mad bunions and shit early

      >hokas

Are these actually good stuff? They look a bit too much like overhyped hun shoes or something you would see in a facebook ad

you can get whatever high cushioned shoe you want if youre a brandgay

I don't give a frick about brands I just want whatever is going to be the most effective regardless of form and tags etc, if the cheap ass shoes function as well as the super hipster powerwalk shoes then I would go for them, I just don't even know where to begin looking or what to look for

theres not that much difference between brands

So then do I just look for something that advertises its cushionyness? What about the big ass clogs like in the OP picture that nurses wear or hype up, is there something to them or is that just good marketing for overpriced shit

pretty much just get anything with a ton of cushioning, you dont need to research it that much

        >it's mostly pain in my heels
thats because youre supposed to actually use your calf muscles and touch the ball of your feet on the floor first, but that requires effort so you get cope like this

they are good for running. I wouldn't stand in them all day or walk with them either. Most running shoes are designed to pitch you forward (larger heal tapering down) to make running with good form (midfoot/forefoot) feel really smooth on asphalt. dress shoes/boots/anything with a heal like that is for fashion only (unless you're a cowboy).

I would recommend against arch support because you will want to strengthen your feet and the muscles/ligaments/tendons in and around the arch. One school of thought even says that arch support keeps them from doing work or becoming conditioned, and allows them to remain loose and weak which causes pain and inflammation... but this is a moot point because it's gonna be more that the constant pressure on the contact points of your feet is going to make them hurt most. To prevent that, I'd get something with lots of soft cushioning. You really can't go wrong with cheap running shoes that have the thick foam sole to absorb heel strikes

The thing is, as far as I have been told I have one high arch foot and one flat foot though I have never really done much about it. I can walk a few hours no problem but it starts to go downhill quick after that, standing all day isn't an issue either but I am new to just straight fricking walking everywhere and it's wack

This. I switched to barefoot and zero drop shoes and my feet are absolutely pain free. Also crazy reduction in knee pain because I have to wear heeled boots for work.

        >barefoot and zero drop shoes
This is something that will be heavy YMMV due to how peoples feet are shaped or how much they weight, you can easily cause tiny fractures or frick up your corns going barefoot with no real benefit gained, we wear shoes for the same reason some folks wear glasses, nature isn't perfect and going full natural usually is not good compared to tech available

you're about 10 years late on low cushioning zero drop, that meme is long dead now that people understand how bad it is for your feet thank god

When i worked in retail as a teenager, one of the supervisors was this standoffish latina single mom with dry sarcasm and outright insulting to nearly everyone. Like most people fricking hated her. She was like 5’4, had psycho eyes, a pixie cut, and the most exaggerated, cartoonish figure I’ve ever seen. Like the mom from the incredibles.
She always wore these shoes and walked around like they were a pair of high heels or something. With every step her ass would jiggle and bounce in these unnecessarily tight clothes she wore. Her pants were thin and sometimes you could just see the silhouette of her underwear. Every single time i see these shoes I remember her.
I was so intimidated by her at the time but she was extremely kind to me, always sweet and smiling and touching me. I was too young to have the balls to do it at the time, but im sure she would have agreed to a date and then give me the meanest fricking of my life. I hope we meet again Claudia.
    Thanks for reading my story.

Danskos are good but the top band is way too tight after 12 hours, even with compression knee socks. Eventually I started to get neuropathy. Burning, pins and needles, painful jolts, shit sucked. Switched to hokas and it's been fine since then.

      You mean sight?

Why would a nurse need those shoes but not necessarily a waiter at a fancy restaurant or someone working on a casino floor who walks all day if they all have the same step count and standing time?

I wear the HFS. They're great. I don't run any distance on tarmac road/pavement in them, but I wear them out walking along with other barefoot, wide toe box shoes pretty much whenever I leave the house.
Super comfy, will strengthen your feet, will strengthen your arches, will allow you to stay on your feet all day.
It's basically like walking around barefoot which, unless you have some major disfunction, is great.
It'll take a little adjustment to begin with and your calves will get fatigued but after that you're all good.

Ignore all the people here that don't have any running experience and buy things based on price/brand. Go to a local running store and get your gait analyzed. There are three types of gaits; neutral, over pronation, and under pronation. Pic related. Tell them that you are working and what kind of floor you're walking on (concrete, I'm assuming). They'll let you try on a bunch of shoes. Don't cheap out or knees will pay for it in 20 years. If you consider a $120 pair of shoes that you wear for 40 hours a week, they really aren't that expensive in the long run. Wear them for six months and they'll cost you $1 a day.
