    >that pic
    So what is autism exactly?
    Could I be autistic?

      Anonymous

Based on that pic I believe autism is more of an “over wired” brain where many pathways are connected through various routes while typical pathways are not wired as well or at all. Whereas the normie brain is more streamlined, more A to B and all normal human things are connected on a more narrow straightforward route and nothing is really lacking or absent.
      >example
      Social reader part of brain
In the autist it’s either not as strong or connects to various other pathways and brain regions making it difficult for the autist to just normally socialize.bin the normie it’s more A to B, making it so they read and pick up on social cues naturally without having to think about it.
      >Anon that hurt my feelings
Autist: why? It’s just true I’m better at dinosaurs then you are that doesn’t make any sense to me. . . *starts talking about why the spinosaurus could never have been the dominant dinosaur due to lack of widespread ideal environment*
Normie: shit I’m sorry I didn’t mean to come off as condescending I just get pretty passionate about dinosaurs. I liked the tidbit you dropped about the megalodon though I didn’t even know that, can you tell me more about it?

Holy frick, I do this at work, I start explaining and I keep going deeper not knowing when to stop and find connections others don't see.

I eat eggs with tomatoes for breakfast every single day. My operating system is NixOS, I also use the i3 window manager and do most things from Emacs with 5k lines of configuration. I use a dumbphone and carry a Thinkpad everywhere for using the Internet. I track the results from my workouts in .csv files committed to a git repo and I plot them with Python.
I brutally autismmog all of you. You can't outautism me.

Based emacs user. Unfortunately until you drop python for your scripting you will still be autismo mogged by some.

I do know R and Haskell though so that's at least a few extra autism points. I just use Python out of convenience.

Nah, these days IST is full of normies who just want to fap to AI-generated porn and argue about Apple. They are dumb.

I use NixOS too, on my linux desktop on my remote vps and on work Mac. I use xmonad. I always edit with vim even in the browser. I only do SBD and keep all lifts in my memory. I also have all my cryptocoin private keys (not seeds) memorized in my head. I haven't "talked" to my dad since 6th grade even though we're always hanging out together I just choose not to idk why. I refuse to greet women by kissing them on the cheek

Okay I may have been autismmogged. I think Emacs is more autistic than Vim but memorizing hex private keys is even more autistic than that.

Pretty sure I have a neurodivergent brain but it goes undiagnosed because I've never had problems blending in with normies.

Autists keep trying to pretend being as fricking annoying as they are is some sort of superpower.
Look at severly autistic people, they are not functional, ergo; autism isnt a good thing.

Autism, like anything, is only good in moderation. If you had 10 scoops of preworkout it would kill you. When you have one scoop it makes your lifts better. Autism is like preworkout for the brain.

Only light degrees of autism are good.

It's a broad spectrum of all sorts of different traits that's linked to an outdated term for extremely disabled people like you mentioned. As much as I hate word policing neurodivergent really is a better word because it's that's literally what it is and so many autists would have had much better lives if the general public didn't equate the term with people like Chris-chan and that dickhead from Big Bang Theory.

It can be if the sperg actually utilizes the advantages like hyper specialization.

I feel the same way however it’s not autists I mainly see doing that these days, it’s normies especially zoomers who are neurotypical and want to claim they’re autistic for virtue signaling reasons and as a sort of fashion accessory. They almost all likely took an autism test online, answered it in such a way they knew would turn back the autistic diagnosis result.

It’s fricking disgusting. These people are weak pussies. They do this, have a relatively normal life with a huge social life and never socially struggle once except maybe being awkward as a teen, then they use their fake autism diagnosis as a shield of spear whenever they can. The saddest part is it’s mainly attractive girls who never had to and never will have to work hard for anything.
Just imagine if I walked around claiming I’m a combat veteran who survived cancer and also am a rape victim purely for attention and in my selfish efforts people actually falling in those categories are unheard and therefor not helped or cared about while they struggle but I get praise for being brave and strong and special. It’s seriously not all that different, it’s the same line of idiocracy and abhorrence anyways.

NTA but I'm going through agony with my ADHD for the first time at 27. I'd trade this for autism in a heartbeat so I can learn, listen and digest information without my brain frying.

          Have you tried

          [...]
Anyway, there are basically 3 solutions to your problem.
          1. Speed up your audiobooks and lectures. 1.5x minimum but I like 1.75x or 2x more. Counterintuitively, this helps me absorb more information because I'm more engaged rather than being mildly bored the whole time.
          2. Techniques from mindfulness meditation.
          3. Stimulant pills.

Gonna reply to this just to say Mindfulness Meditation is THE SHIT. Listened to an audiobook outside today while the breeze was freezing and my neighbour was working on his roof and still managed to pay attention to like 15 minutes of what Marcus Aurelius was saying.
Also try speaking your thoughts out loud instead of just thinking them. You can't keep more than one train of thought going at a time if you're thinking out loud.

being born with autism fricking sucks, your quirky little schedule and choice of OS is just a fashion statement, the truth of it is that being born with autism is just a gateway to getting a mental illness later on in life and always being the one feeling outside looking in nomatter what you do.

You can't become autistic. However, you can maximize the gift God (or the vaccines, circumcision, baby formula) gave to you.

Whenever I start getting accustomed to socializing and leaving the house isn't such an effort I spend one week completely locked in my house to regress any of the "becoming normal" progress I've made. I haven't seen my gf since Wednesday morning, the only person I've talked to face to face with since has been my mother. I dont know why I keep doing this and it makes me feel miserable until I get out of it, which will then eventually make me tired of people which in turn makes me regress to /hermit/maxxing, and thus continue my endless cycle of misery and unhappiness

Autism fricking sucks,I will never grasp the joys of life and socialization that nts effortlestly do,its a life of struggle and theres absolutely no benefits from It for 99% of autists.
