He wasnt that strong actually. MIke tyson himself said it he was just very fast and accurate with his punches. When it comes to KO's somebody in boxing landing an accurate punch is one of the most important things

      Anonymous

      >Wasn't that strong actually
He fought really physical fighter such as bonecrusher smith,TNT tucker, razor Ruddock and Bruno

George Foreman was stronger. Look up his fights. Hardly ever tried or had to defend himself either just walked people down and pummeled them. Look up his fights especially young George comeback George was impressive too especially for an old fat ex-reverend or minister or whatever. Tyson was great and COULDVE been something special but he got lost somewhere along the way and I love the 90s but he probably isn’t even top 5 all time, don’t be that guy.

Foreman physicality is impressive but he was still a limit where he can impose that
Lyle stood up to him and got close to beating him out if it wasn't for exhaustion, his old version got outworked by Holyfield and Morrison

Well yeah and Ali took him to school (ropes looked pretty damn loose tho) everyone gets beat but you can do a lot better than Mike

        >Foreman physicality is impressive but he was still a limit where he can impose that. Lyle stood up to him

MF Ron Lyle himself was one of the scariest beasts to ever set foot in the ring. He KTFO Earnie Shavers and went 11 rounds with Ali. If Ron Lyle was Foreman's limit (and Foreman still overpowered him), then there is literally nobody else in boxing who Foreman couldn't bully.

Wasn't scared of getting hurt combined with having a high resistance against getting knocked the frick out. Everyone in the UFC is deathly afraid of getting hurt which is why you see people jab to decision so much.

Real answer: his height let him leap his hooks i.e. come upwards, blasting off the ground and putting that into his hooks
If you're tall like me you'll tend more towards the check hook, transferring weight backwards and using it as a counter. For me to rise into my lead hook I have to change levels down first, but tyson was already there

Lights out Knockout punches come from the chin. There some nerves there that when hit it's switch off

        >Never understood why some people go down so easily
It's probably 95% momentum/angle/force of where your head was moving vs. what hit you at that moment, and like 5% the genetics ie. shape of your head, natural padding inside your skull and whatnot.

Plenty of guys have gotten in insane car crashes and smacked their face off the wheel without KO, meanwhile you might get a heemed from something as simple as having a door opened in your face at the wrong moment. Just about force and angles.

I like Foreman but let's not kid ourselves, he was an extremely dirty fighter who never got called out for fouling because of the political climate of the time.

Technique. Patterson did the same thing, just traded mass for hand speed.
Can't underestimate prime Mike's mental though, he was very focused, very disciplined, and very driven. And he studied the sport religiously.
If Cus lived another five years, Mike could have reached the "so dominant it's boring" phase instead of being the great what-if he ended up

people forget that foreman fought the best of the best and only lost to some of the most skilled and brilliant boxers to ever live. you dont get that far without a lot of ring IQ and knowledge of both the sport and yourself

This is the real reason but coomers will tell you genetics but cant expand on their argument, they just say "genetics"
The real reason is testosterone because of sustained sexual abstinence

people dismiss it as roids which is funny, he was on roids but the 200 pound 5'8 15 year old who was basically homeless wasnt doing designer steroids

i feel like IST gets mad when you tell them some people are just naturally huge (which, yes, he pushed further with steroids)

Grow up moron, he wouldn’t be anything close to 200 without roids. You don’t fricking need designer roids to do that either
