There's a difference between choosing to fry something with vegetable oil, and a manufacturer filling meat with vegetable oil to extend their supply. I guess to be fair the mcdonalds, most reconstituted meat is pumped up with cheap vegetable oil so it isn't like they are unique there.

      Just avoid processed food.

Cholesterol and salt are fine. Although I think it's a good idea to replace your table salt with LoSalt (50/50 potassium/sodium salt).

fat is good, saturated and trans fats are bad
most processed foods have way too much sodium

Saturated and monounsaturated fat is healthy. Better than polyunsaturated fat, especially when it's heated.

      > Dietary cholesterol has nothing to do with blood cholesterol.
      Wrong

True, but less dietary cholesterol won't do anything for heart disease risk. And even if your diet contains zero cholesterol, your body will still produce it.

Wrong. Dietary cholesterol has about 25% impact on blood cholesterol.

It's not a fixed percentage. It depends on your diet, your physical activity, and your genetics.

Polyunsaturated fat isn't good or bad. Omega-3 is extremely good, which is present in fish and eggs. Omega-6 is bad in the abundance the modern american diet gives, drowning in high omega-6 seed oils.

Cholesterol is involved in the structure of atheroscelrosis plaques, but they're not the underlying cause, which is blood glucose spikes and insulin resistance which cause inflammation. It’s the lack of nutrients among other things. I think there's more going on than just saturated vs unsaturated fat, and sugar. Mcdonalds patties are made from reconstituted meat. As well as it being a mix of various beef components that you wouldn't normally cook yourself, they adulterate it with vegetable oil.

It makes these discussions about impossible burgers a bit funny. The beef patty from the main burger chains are not that far off from an impossible patty. You're just being treated to a small amount of beef sludge instead of whatever they substitute for that in an impossible burger.

Eating carbs together with fat is fattening because in presence of carbs, the body will use carbs for energy and shuttle all the fat into body fat.
Carbs alone won't make you fat because carb intake drives carb oxidation. The body would rather use carbs to produce heat than to produce new body fat.

Sugar is more addictive than heroin and just makes you crash and get hungry afterwards. Salt makes you thirsty where you then find something to drink. IE Juice/pop which is just sugar water which makes you hungry again and now youre in a loop. The only thing that matters in terms of Weight is CICO. As for "bad" food, generally anything oils or fat that solidifes at room temp is not good. Youll get trace amounts in your blood and that clogs your arteries over time. Trans fat are also legitimately not good and shouldnt be consumed.

the sugar is more addictive than heroin, or at the same level. is such a moronic arguement. its always made by people who got no clue, and its based if taking data from MRI studies that shouldnt be taken from em. and this analogy explain it perfectly:
"Saying sugar/food is as addictive as drugs, cause they activate the same areas in the brain; is like comparing your kids water pistol with a firehose from a firetruck, cause they both squirt water"

          Anonymous

its because these people have never tried drugs before and have zero idea what the "physical dependency" aspect of addiction is. Thats for another thread though. As you said, sugar is not nearly the same "addiction" as drugs unless youre literally fricking diabetic lol out loud

    >apparently fat isnt bad
    fat isn't bad, no.
    >apparently carbs arent bad
carbs are pretty bad, you should consume them in limited quantities. vegans will disagree but that's because 95% of their diet is carbohydrates. there's some nuance here that should be mentioned; you can have "complex carbs" which are starches like rice, potatoes, and pasta but even these should be eaten in limited quantities. the thing that vegans don't understand is that you can eat a largely vegetarian diet that is also quite restrictive on the carbs. generally you want to stay away from refined carbohydrates like sugar.
    >apparently calories arent bad
so basically some scientists in a room somewhere take a food item and burn it in an incinerator and this results in a number which is determined by how long it took to completely burn at a given temperature. that number is what calories represent. they're not that relevant to you honestly, you should pay attention more to the quality of food and how your body responds to it.
    >gluten is only bad if you have celiacs
lol don't know shit about gluten, my understanding is that some people can't process gluten, hence they have to eat "gluten-free alternatives" and then some other people took this advice as though it was yet another fad diet.
So what is it the sugar and preservatives? Am I wrong?
sugar is poison. your body wants to stay in homeostasis, that is it wants a stable blood glucose level, regular sleep cycle, and other markers of healthy and stable living. when you eat sugar, you blood glucose levels skyrocket, then the pancreas needs to produce a frickload of insulin to bring them back down. insulin is a fat storage hormone, so it takes all that excess glucose out of your blood and stores it as fat. most everything you eat will produce an insulin response, it's a normal part of digestion, but it becomes a problem if you're provoking a response multiple times a day.

if theres one thing that surprised me about research; it is how consistently researchers manage to predict weightloss, weightgain and maintances, with CICO. now the alternative is the insulin carb model. why dont you look up how good that model is for weight prediction. its so bad is a joke. its less accurate than CICO.
People think CICO doesnt work cause of a few neglible effects. then argue that other models are better way way bigger flaws, and theyre way more inaccurate.
The whole world of Bodybuilding proves that CICO works

      >eat clean, never buy fast food or processed shit
      i agree on this part
      >and sold as food when it is actually poison
if you read research its clear that its not poison. its not something good, but saying its poison is dumb. not only cause that is not what research says, but your fundamental lack of understanding what poison is, is obvious. poison is made by the dose, not the substance.

      >also plastic everywhere, avoid foods in hot plastic
you should avoid plastic, but if you look up where you get most of it from; youll see that it comes from preparation in your own home, mostly. even when compared to filterfeeders, in the ocean
      https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29604577/#:~:text=The%20mean%20number%20of%20MPs,(SE)%20per%20mussel).&text=By%20comparison%2C%20the%20risk%20of,particles%2FY%2Fcapita).
      >By comparison, the risk of plastic ingestion via mussel consumption is minimal when compared to fibre exposure during a meal via dust fallout in a household (13,731-68,415 particles/Y/capita).

Vegetable oil isn't food, it isn't rated for consumption, it belongs in your car, stop eating it.

high fat, high card, high salt, high sugar, low fibre, low protein. burgers would be ok if you didn't eat the fries or soda and removed the bun. I'd add some fibre with some veggies

fat isn't bad but a bunch of fried food is bad. too much fat and not from a good source. If you just get the burgers and not ones slathered in sauce and fried onion rings then you're fine.
