Wait so do the Russians currently fighting in Ukraine not need the ability to load artillery shells… or take and hold territory with infantry… or work on planes to bomb places?

Considering modern warfare is literally drones dropping bombs half a world away, none. A fricking butterfly net would serve you better.

The most important thing in war is always cardio, ask any solider.
    So burpees and running.

      Anonymous

That doesn't mean strength is irrelevant.
Army POGs train burpees and running because there are too many people trying to PT in the morning for them to use real equipment.
Anyone who matters enough to be in special forces actually out kicking down doors trains cardio and lifts heavy fricking weights in some of the nicest gyms tax dollars can buy. The majority of them are on roids as well. Operators who are actually shooting and getting shot cannot afford to be weak.

at infantry level it becomes a bit of a mixmatch of cardio and strength. like rucking. is that cardio or strength? because carrying heavy weights around for miles cant just be done by any cardio connoisseur

As someone who was in the infantry, went through an intense military selection and passed, and I have a green beret dad who retired last year/spent my entire childhood around the SF community, trained in 5th SFG gym as a teen, I can tell you with absolute certainty that you are completely wrong. Endurance is KING for military fitness. IST is going to hate this, but there is a reason that most special forces operators train CrossFit style workouts

          >CrossFit style workouts
as much as morons like to shit on crossfit, the top athletes are strong and have a good balance of strength to endurance.
they also absolutely do use PEDs , as do SF.

Training for crossfit competition is not the same as training crossfit.

    >idiot reactionaries arguing over whose autistic idea of masculinity is more cooler

      Anonymous

Calling someone a reactionary is such a demented idea.

It's a way to demonize anyone who disagrees with a new movement, anyone who disagrees with a push for massive social changes is considered a reactionary.

It's reactionary to think that you shouldn't be giving children hormone treatments to change that gender. And the reason it's reactionary is because such an idea wasn't even needed before because nobody was insane enough to do such a thing to a child.

When somebody comes up with a narcotic that they make in laboratory so it's not technically illegal yet and the law is made to ban it that is also reactionary.

And I'm sure you can point to some Wikipedia article that describes reactionary as something different but that's not how you literally use the term. You literally use it to describe anyone who reacts to something.

Yeah, you need smart people and you nurture the smart people you have.
You need general fitness in your youth for optics and practical readiness for force exertion.

Yarvin and Grimes are morons because they think they can manifest revolution with a few dozen sophist, bugmen

    >muscle power is meaningless
War is very much the same as football. If your organization is correct even a 50 year old can perform. But if you get caught off-guard fitness can often make up for it, and shit goes wrong all the time.

The fact that you assume the only alternative to 'AltRight internet homosexual' is 'troony SJW internet homosexual' is proof that your generation is garbage. You would be much more likely to achieve your trad conservative ideals by ignoring social media pissfights and living like a normal person.

HIIT for dashing between cover. Wood chopping, hole digging, ruck marches. I'd say it's useful to have pull up capacity with body armor on. The Murph is a good goal to aim for. SOF guys beef up for intimidation and ego as noted by the US army's own anthropologists. They aren't quiet professionals anymore. SOF of the past were a lot less bulky than now, even accounting for increased loads. The amount of muscle mass necessary is less than one might think and in fact lends itself to inefficiencies in the endurance context.

  21. 2 years ago
    Anonymous

Soldiers rarely fight in real war now. People who say that muscles don't matter in warfare now don't realize that war is mostly about walking around/loading shit onto trucks. Muscles will help you endure both.
In a rare case of combat - muscles will let you endure firefight longer, or help you carry wounded comrades. Plus increased testosterone production that you would have from big muscle mass would help you handle extreme stress better and that's just one thing among many others that testosterone would help you with during a war.

The same ones since the beginning of human history.
Generally strong and balanced musculoskeletal system(isolation is moronic in this context, also is "focusing" on singular muscles, get strong in general homosexual)
    Stupidly effective cardiovascular system
Mental resilience capable of high performance in stressful and sleep deprived situations.
