    I'm going to the gym to improve my health in the long term, not to for some vanity body dysmorphia numbers. I will still be doing daily cardio in my 80s, while most roidtrannies don't even live past 50s, and the surviving ones are filled with permanent chronic issues from all the roiding destroying their bodies.

    I sometimes wonder too. Sure some strength is nice to have but who cares about getting fat as frick to progress there. Realistically you won't look "good" unless you dedicate most of your life around the gym and eating right, you'll look ok but still DYEL level.
    Just do it if it's fun or switch to some sport as time goes on, whatever keeps you active and is fun I guess.
    But if you want to look great then yeah go roids or make gym your life.

        Sure, but most people after working only have few hours to spare and those 2 hours are usually half of that time, and once you stop working out consistently those gains will disappear fast, unfortunately.
        Sure, it would be amazing if you get to a certain point and keep your gains but you'll have to dedicate those hours for the rest of your life if you want to keep those gains and in time it will be harder and harder, especially with kids. At least it was for me but I'm an old far now browsing this shitthole because my life sucks

The reason why some powerlifters are lean and can still lift as much as strongmen is because strength has very little to do with muscle mass. if you train for hypertrophy, your muscles will get really big but you won't know how to use them, meanwhile someone who only trains for strength will have smaller muscles but will be way stronger because they have learned to use and formed all the neural pathways they need to get the most out of the muscles they have

    My goal is to be able to lift well into my 90s. Roids will frick with my hormones and shit and I don't want to gamble on their effects decades down the line.
    My secondary goal is to achieve something like a George Hackenschmidt physique while I'm young, simply because it's theoretically possible and I want to see how far I can push my body without any outside aid such as supplements or steroids. I don't even take creatine.
