i would never recommend it to someone but I lost about 35lbs in maybe two months by basically just not eating. came out of it looking incredible and am still at that weight. literally just don't take in calories and you'll lose weight it's not really that difficult.

Not drinking calories is good advice

      don't drink calories.

glass of water before and during eating.

The easiest way is counting calories and cardio. God tier cardio = playing sports, cross country/running alot. Stair master. Good tier = rowing machine and biking

I also suggest eliminating all desert. No pop. Minimize drinking. And red meat 2x a week max unless it’s venison or organs. Lean meats like fish, turkey, chicken, goose, duck are better

Let me give you some personal insight on the matter.

I've been with my wife for 10 years now. We met in high school, and I got her pregnant.
She is and always has been a lazy person and a shit cook. I wouldn't even mind eating shit food if she at least made it on time. But she rarely did.

We'd get into screaming arguments constantly about how lazy and worthless she was. I felt like an butthole for it, but goddamn she was a real piece of work. The only reason I dealt with all this was for the kids, and also because the sex is great.

But one night, I got fed up. Not only did she get drunk, neglect the kids, and made me top Ramen for dinner, but she decided to give me attitude too. She was being real fricking b***hy. So I told my grandparents to keep an eye on the kids and told my wife we were going to go out and have dinner together. I drove maybe 3 blocks to a quiet area (we live in Oregon, it's not hard to find a quiet field) and I got out of the car, went around like I was going to open her door for her and let her out, and I just beat the shit out of her while she was still seatbelted. After a few punches, I asked her if she wanted to go back to her parents. She started screaming and yelling and said yes, so I beat the shit out of her again. Then I asked her what she wanted to do. She finally got smart and said she wanted to go home. So I took her home and dared her to start trouble. I even handed her my cellphone and dialed her mom's number on the drive home. I made her talk to her mom, while daring her to fricking say something.

Before that incident, I had never laid a hand on her. But I had always threatened it. I told her "one of these days, if you don't straighten up, I'm going to lay hands on you."

All my meals have been on time, and she just recently tried to make a meatloaf. It was mediocre, but I was just thrilled that she tried.

Do with this information what you will.

            My wife, is mediocre cook.
Sex is below average, and always afraid of me during sex.
But she love me (I think), and she was a virgin.

Get skinny. When you're a lean enough, sometime a year after she's told you that you are way too skinny and have an eating disorder, then she will start giving BJs. Not shitting you. The lean pill is real. I've seen this firsthand.

Because you can consume them super easily, you absorb them super easily, and thus it's easy to go overboard. You gain the calories but it still leaves your stomach empty.
Let's be honest, if you have a gallon of apple juice at hand or a very convenient way to make it, you won't drink only one glass a day. You will probably drink 3 or 4, either after meals or whenever you get thirsty. Since you don't have to chew, it registers as almost nothing (you don't take note of every instance when you drink water, why would you take note of every instance when you drink juice?), but that's still 400 kcal added to your daily consumption just like that. And if your meal already covers your TDEE, then guess who's getting 400 kcal fatter every day.
If you really like the taste of fruit that much, you might as well just eat the fruit and benefit from the fiber.

because you can only burn through so much energy during a day, but the limit to calorie ingestion is way, way higher.

I was never fat, only skinnyfat, but what worked most was definitely cutting out carbs completely (it's very hard to overshoot on calories while doing this) and when I wanted to do a drastic cut: no carbs and OMAD at night.
This of course while still lifting. Cardio would have helped even more but I didn't even try that, tbh

Because fats treat weight loss like a quick fix rather than a lifestyle change. So, as soon as they reach their target goal, they go right back to their shitty eating habits.
Combine their face stuffing habits with the fact that their brains think they were starving, and you'll understand why they not only gain the weight back, but gain it quicker the second time around.

unironically fasting shrinks your stomach (acksually it un-dulls the sensors in your stomach lining that promote satiety), assuming you don't binge after. Also any and all emulsifiers cause stomach lining problems, not a HUGE deal, but if you consume a lot that's why.

I was eating less at 280 after fasting than I was at 200 when I cranked my volume of food to like 5lbs a meal when I was starving. Binged like 20 back then yo-yo'd trying to stop it and am at 240 and stable. Once I hit 195 I know better now so it won't happen again. Might include fasting to start since I can get away with it being fat again.

Yes. Self hatred is a corner stone for self improvement. If you don't hate it sufficiently, how can you destroy it?

I've been called "weird" and "unhealthy" for trying to tell people that shame is a positive emotion. If you feel ashamed about something, like eating a whole pizza or not being able to climb a set of stairs without stopping to catch your breath, that's a clear sign that you need ti change. You. Not the world around you. If someone can make you feel shame for something, you are already ashamed about that and KNOW you need to change.

          Anonymous

This is just basing your motivation in hatred. You could just as easily base it on the value of what youre trying to achieve rather than what youre trying to avoid. I mean, it can work, but why take on all that extra pain for no reason? Take on useful pain instead.

            Anonymous

Your post is completely idiotic for many reasons:
            - if you have been chubby or fat your whole life -- what does that "positive expectation" mean to you? Some abstract, in a very real sense literally unrelateable metric? It's essentially, at that point, functionally equivalent to someone rando wanting to kick like Messi. Yeah sure, there is "some" value in that. But do you think the same guy could relate to wanting to walk again after an accident? Yeah? Could you? Or do you think that guy really, *really* loves to walk his legs, rather than hating literally every second of his ambulatory life?
            - the relation between gain and deprivation is asymmetric. If you earn 1000$ and get 500$, you have 500$ more for various expenses. Your budget is 33% larger.
If you lose those same 500%, your budget is now cut back to a whopping half of what is originally was -- and this absolutely are not negotiable expenses.
Now, are you smart enough to transform this in your mind into a situation involving bodily health?
            - humans get used to happiness much more than they get desentisized to suffering. The latter is a much more potent motivator. You would not endure 1 hour of the worst pain just so you could get 20 hours of the best bliss.

100% fellas. I’m on my second cut (lost like 120lbs in exactly 1 year by the month with the below method, stayed lean for years and fell out of it because became too comfortable in life and depressed but I’m doing it again)
      >build a mindset like a self harmer to learn to love feeling hungry and fatigued all the time and enjoy cardio while feeling those ways
      >tell myself shit like “yeah you deserve this fatty pay your dues and suffer you fat frick.”
      >unironically begin to enjoy the discomfort to the point I barely notice it
      >start to develop eating disorder, genuinely make myself afraid to consume over 2000 calories just by convincing myself if I even entertained the cravings I would gain all the weight back and never get lean to the point I wouldn’t even look at food unless it was one of my meals
      >unsuccessfully try to develop alternate personality who’s just straight up bullying and harassing current me for being so fat and weak literally have convos with myself and imagine strongest self beating the shit out of current self if too tired to do cardio
All of this paired with the unrivaled power of autism = from 6’1” 288lbs to 160lbs in exactly a year. Hate that I was able to stay genuinely healthy and sub 15% bodyfat from 18-22 before I started to fall out of that lifestyle and get fat again. Just turned 27 I’m losing a lot of weight again. No plans to ever return, I’m doing the above but way worse and I’m making sure to keep those self developed mental health issues in regards to my fitness even after I’m lean.

Depends. My farts smell worse when I eat grain. My bowels turn into a 3rd rate brewery. I handle small amounts of starchy veg well, though. Steak and eggs diet pretty much eliminated all of my farts for 6 months.

    CICO, it's literally that simple

You can talk about the psychology, hormones, nutrients until your face turns blue but at the end of the day it's literally just calories in calories out. I've done multiple 30lb+ cuts with different kinds of diets, sometimes keto, sometimes doing a lot of cardio, sometimes cutting out all calorie dense foods. These days I don't change the kinds of foods I eat at all, I just eat less of them. The one thing all successful weight loss diets have in common is that you're taking in less calories than you're putting out

That is the main problem I have with this. As much as I try at a certain point my body fights me like crazy, and it gets worse as I get close to 175lbs it becomes insane. I feel like I'm not eating enough and crave like crazy not chocolate or any other shit but more food. I'm currently close to 191 lbs after some lung infection and some time off the gym. The problem for me is that I can only have visible abs below 175 being 5'11, I don't know what to do.

        Anonymous

175 is quite lean for 5'11" if you lift, it's expected the cut will get exponentially harder as your BMI goes down. Unfortunately you just have to be more agressive with the deficit which requires a lot of diligence.

        >The problem for me is that I can only have visible abs below 175 being 5'11
This is very likely wrong. I always thought I had to get to a really low body fat % in order to have visible abs and visible muscle separation etc. This was technically true, but the problem was also that my muscles weren't that developed. If you have larger muscles they will start to show at a higher body fat %.

        Anonymous

        >I feel like I'm not eating enough
You're not that's the point. If it was easy everyone would do it. This is what people mean when they say it's not sustainable to maintain visible and year round. If you absolute elite genetics, an over developed core, or are on PEDs it is a lot easier, but most of us an a standard deviation above or below average. Sucks.

        Anonymous

        >as I get close to 175lbs it becomes insane
yeah that's pretty relatable. I'm 6 feet and currently 194lbs, but my goal is to cut down to 175 again for the summer like I did last year. Those last five pounds are a b***h when all you can think of is devouring a bowl of cereal

Also, it's actually kind of frightful how much food a person can eat at once. When you're trying to cut a single lapse in willpower can see you eating like 5000 calories in one meal and set your progress back an entire week. Gotta be careful

To be honest, it was getting into rowing. Best $800 I ever spent. Use this thing daily for about 30-40 minutes rowing reasonably hard. According to the monitor, its burning around 800 calories per session (5000-7000m) at full resistance. I could never get below 200lbs until I did this.

Its not for everyone, but I fricking hate, hate, hate, HATE running so rowing is my jam. Pop on my headphones and crank it out. Never felt or looked healthier in my life.

What's the difference between fasting and eating less?

        Anonymous

fasting means you don't have aminos circulating in your blood to do anything with for large portions of the day. You also tend to have higher cortisol during it but also hgh and test but again without the aminos it's not going to make composition changes. Fasting is not magic it's just the least amount of calories you can consume and it generally only works well for otherwise metabolically healthy people who eat at least maintenance most days.

same thing, same problems it's just easier for a lot of people to eat less calories if they can get the mental satisfaction of feeling full at least once a day. Personally I just trade up for less calorically dense food because 4 lbs of food feels like 4 lbs of food no matter how many calories or grams of carbs or fat is in it.

After the first 24 hours not eating becomes easy. You stop feeling hungry but after like 4 days you may start to feel tired and should eat. 2 days is very easy. It is always the first 24 hours that is hardest, so literally just sleep when you feel hungry and when you wake up the hunger will be gone.

It is sweet enough to trigger an insulin response and even if it doesn't it has chemicals like sucralose in it that are bad for you. Just drink water and maybe put some lemon juice in it if you really want. Sparkling water is ok too. Seriously that's all you need.

I don't care about calorie restriction at all and eat pretty much everything, even the occasional sweets and goyslop, although we cook at home rather than eating out or buying deliveries.

    >What was the most important change in your life after Losing Weight?
the biggest change was waking up actually rested, i used to wake up more tired than when i got to bed, probably because of sleep apnea, that got way better.. i would say sleeping better was the best thing about losing weight xD... a bad thing was that my balls got saggy from losing most of the fat i had, i'm pretty lean now, somehow being fat stretched my ball sack, it sags a lot, it's actually a pain, because my balls get stuck and twisted all the time, fricking sucks... it's such a pain that i'm considering to take extra skin away from the scrotum

Cut right down on empty carbs, like chocolate, cookies, bread, pasta, chips etc. Nutritionally dense foods are much more filling for the calories, so you eat less but get more out of it. Shredded down from 20% to about 12% bodyfat in maybe 2-3 months.

Just tracking my protein intake made it easier to cut down own the total amount of calories.
Protein makes me so much more full than the other macros that I practically have to force it down my throat to get more than 100 grams in a day.

Meeting people in real life made a waterfall of success.
    > Can't eat/binge around people
    > Less bored, less snacking
    > Less snacks = weaker sugar addiction
Gave me a BF% of about 12%, feels good man

I started as a fat frick with zero muscles and after a year I was at around 30% bodyfat with muscle hiding underneath. My lifts were all doing great and I felt fantastic, yet people around me still treated me as fat and probably thought I was lying about going to the gym. After that I went on a pretty serious cut exposed the muscle underneath and losing the fat. Then people suddenly treated me way nicer and my mom worried because she thought I was roiding.
If you're skinnyfat don't fall for the cutting meme. Building muscle is so much easier when you're not a skelly. Have patience and cut at least 6 months after you think you should. It's worth it.

Was 260lb at 5'8 manlet, I took a selfie of my face and was disgusted with what I saw, I started supplementing my jogging with lifting and eventually doing hiit hill sprints, I slimmed down to 150lb, today, I'm lean at 160lb.

I can't really say anything about any big changes, I was a big recluse when I was fat but when I got lean, I was comfortable enough to now talk to girls, I'd be fricking a new one every week, eventually got married.

Gaining weight back after going through all the trouble to lose it is one of my biggest fears. How can I avoid it when I reach my target weight?

I think most people either follow a unreasonable diet or they fast really hard in order to see quick results. Problem is that many people want to lose weight fast with as little effort as possible. Sure starving yourself will work but once you start eating again you'll have learned nothing.
Actually setting up a meal plan, weighing your food and counting calories will help you further down the line. Eventually you'll learn to kinda eyeball how many calories most things you eat have. You'll also learn that some foods you can overeat on and some foods you can't even touch. You'll also learn what your maintenance calorie intake actually is. All of these things will help you for the rest of your life.

There's nothing wrong with eating unhealthy snacks once in a while, it literally does nothing. So instead of being extreme and cutting off everything like snacks, sugar, burgers etc etc, just allow yourself to eat those kind of things once in a while to keep it fun, just DON'T overeat or go on a binge. A burger taste much better when you don't eat one daily.

Mcdonalds isn't unhealthy per se, the reason why it's considered unhealthy is because it contains a lot of calories, so it all depends how many you eat.

        WRONG. ABSOLUTELY INCORRECT.

I don't have a clue what you mean with "once in a while", and that's a problem.
For me, snacks are literally a once a month affair. But I also find it fully reasonable to think "once in a while" means like "once every couple days". Now, if you snack 10 times instead of 0.5-1 times a month, it obviously makes a huge difference.

You suck at motivating speech, as you are so muddled in your thinking and subsequent explanation you actually do more damage.

As someone who's experienced losing it all and then gaining it all back, losing it again and maintaining the answer is: you have to track and police yourself for the rest of your life.
I still weigh every day and use that to find a weekly average. I look in the mirror and I'm critical about how I look fat wise. The minute I start to step out I start a cut.

If you're like me and reading the replies to this thread about obvious junk foods like fizzy drinks, alcohol and sugar and still managed to put on a belly, there are only two bits of advice that will help:

    1) Move more. Don't just workout at the gym. Cycle to work. Walk to your girl's house. Using public transport instead of private transport has a non-trivial amount of walking embedded in it. The idea you should have about exercise is that it isn't a 1-2hr window after work, rather moving and straining your muscles are something you should try to do as often as you can throughout the day.

    2) Portion sizes. There is a really easy way to hack your brain into wanting to eat less and it's to use a smaller plate. It sounds stupid but it actually works. I never realised how much I was overeating simply because I filled a big plate with food. If I filled a smaller plate with food I was still satisfied and ate maybe half the food I normally would
Here's where buying pre-made portion sizes will frick you. Stop eating sandwiches made with pre-sliced bread. You didn't determine that portion size.

I'm 74kg and ~18.5% bf (bioelectric impedance and calipers roughly agree), trying to get to 12% bf which means losing ~5 kg. Losing 250 g/week should get me there by June. I'm not going to fast.

    Sticking to OMAD.
You can't really get fat if you eat only once a day, you'd really need to get out of your way to do so.

some form of fasting, even if it's just 18hr/day
some form of bread restriction even if its just literally not eating actual bread

Lost 35 kg by counting calories and doing occasional 3-4 day fasts. Apps really make it easy. Now on maintenance I still count calories plus I drink like 900 ml homemade kefir daily and I hope this helps as well.
