    >What are better, plates in kilograms or plates in pounds?
The frick kind of question is this? If you're American you get pound plates, if you live literally anywhere else on the planet you get kilogram plates.

Kilograms. You don't want to be American, do you?

            They're the same weight dumbass.
A 45lbs plate is about 20kg. Americans have an obsession with big numbers and imperial nonsense measurement. If you weigh yourself in kilos get kg plates.

Incorrect, mutts lifts more by a bit, 45lbs is 20.5kg

Oh yeah? Then why do Brit gays like Eddie Hall and Nordic gays like Thor always coom over their deadlifts in lb's? Americans aren't the only ones who like big numbers.

They don't. Edward never shuts the frick up about muh 500 kilo and Thor barely seems to talk about it at all anymore. The only time I've heard him say it in pounds was when he was on Mark Bell's podcast.

I have plates that say both but it's up to you. Me being a burger only knows lbs and my cast iron plates have both lb and kg on each side of the plate. Every other plate I have is only in lbs.

Pick one and stick with it.
If you’re close to the border then grab lbs so you can buy/sell used plates easier.

Generally around £2.5 per kg is the max you should spend, always look for lower.

EBay or Facebook marketplace which makes more sense?

Ebay has escrow but will cost to auction. Be very careful with facebook marketplace and make sure they send money before you give them the item.

eBay like to dip their hand into your pocket a little too often for my liking. FB marketplace just use common sense. No money not plates.

Is $3CAD a good price for a weight set ranging from small to large plates?

      Anonymous

With prices these days, 3$ CAD isn't so bad per pound. Just make sure you'r buying proper iron, none of that cement shit.
If you can wait, prices dip a little at the end of summer.

Is it worth paying more for steel plates?

      Anonymous

Not really. Casties are never 100% accurate but in my experience they're never off by enough to justify paying double for steel. Generic bumpers you find in gyms on the other hand are bullshit.

Can you give me a good price for cast iron plates and a good price for steel plates when buying a full set of small to large? Small plates seem higher when bought individually.

why don’t calibrated cast iron plates exist?

          Anonymous

          There you go! Calibrated.

But seriously, there are a lot of cast iron calibrated plates. Rogue powerlifting plates, for example, even if they say they are "steel".
It is a bit of work to find actual steel plates that haven't just been cut out of a sheet of steel plate, but they are out there.

They do. Mirafit make them. They're just as expensive as steels.

Try $1 a pound or $2.20 per kilogram to start with used.

Both pound and kilogram plates are good, but viss plates double as deci-/centi-/milli-plates. So granular! 25 viss is 90 pounds or 1 plate. 20 viss is 72 pounds or 0.8 plate and so on.

        https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myanmar_units_of_measurement#Mass
The good ol' Burmese system of mass measurement! Can just reuse the 45s, they are 12.5 viss! Just need 10, 7.5, 5, 2.5 and 1.25 viss plates from there. Deciplate granularity achieved!
Pictured, a very aesethic 12.5 viss plate.

I unironically steal Rogue bumper plates from my gym. They have an outdoor "CrossFit" section with a million bumpers and other equipment. They have sleds that you toe around your waist and pull it. I will load 2 45lb bumpers on the sled and start dragging down the street, when I get back I only have one plate on the sled. Literally no one watches you when you workout unless you're a bimbo, so no one ever notices how much weight you have. Later on I'll drive my car over and pick up the plate I cached

Not a big fan of this type of plate, even though they do make 55 pounders. It's because the 55 pounder is only 15" in diameter, and it's not even the tallest plate! The 45s are 15.3", still way short of the 17.72"/450mm standard diameter.

$1/lb, no matter where you live. If you can't find it for that just make Caveman weights, it's not worth getting fleeced by some beaner
