What's the benefits of a floor mattress?

Hey IST, I was wondering what the benefits of a floor mattress is compared to a bed frame. I've just finished getting a house for myself and I was wondering if they have any benefit besides being able to fold up for more space.

There are no benefits, if you are an adult buy at least a damn metal frame. If you aren't dirt poor or a crack head you get a frame of some sort

I was gonna build my own frame out of wood. My house isn't the biggest is why I'm asking this question. It's not really a minimalist thing for me.

I did this. Enough height for plastic storage cases and air circulation, low enough not to take up too much real estate. Consider one of those beds (Murphy) that hide in a cabinet or into the wall if space is an issue. They sell just the hardware with instructions how to build the frame.

I hope you make sure to get the mattress off the floor when not in use, so it can be aired out.

      >If you aren't dirt poor or a crack head you get a frame of some sort
It's ironic you say that since bed frames were invented because whites are filthy poors whose houses were filled with bugs

        >whites are filthy poors whose houses were filled with bugs
Which is double ironic, because everyone else was/is filthy and poor but just slept with the bugs instead of lifting their beds off the ground.

Yeah, it looks better for some reason.

Bed frames will give you a space advantage because you can store things under the beds, plus the wireframes on Amazon fold up too. Sleeping on a mattress alone is pretty comfy though ngl, just get the mattress for now and get the frame later

I don't really own a lot or things to warrant it, and I don't like spring mattresses. A friend of mine sleeps on lambskin so I was thinking about it in the meantime before I built my own frame

If you don't have a bed frame and box springs you can't bend your wife over the bed while you frick her.
On the other hand, you get some weird looks in the furniture store when you're walking around shopping for beds by getting your wife to bend over the edge on each one.

I'm not married, yet. Have to get baptized or charismated first. So this is a bachelor thing, I guess.

In that case you may as well just sleep on the floor because your future wife will want to redecorate the place anyway.

Yeah, lol. That's what I already figured man. There's another room I'm gonna remodel for whenever I have a kid or two.

More solid that laying on a spring box?

Yeah I don't like springs or wire frames, but I still like a solid mattress. I guess I'm just picky and cutting corners? The question is more related to back, sleep, and general health benefits.

I'll probably get called a weeb for this, but I took the Japanese futon pill about 2-3 years ago. I've never slept better in my life. Once you get used to the floor as your nightly support, it becomes the most comfy bed you can have. I would never go back to a spring or foam mattress. I've had both. They don't compare to a futon in any way. My sleep is just soo much better after getting this. Other benefits:
    1. You can roll the bed up during the day for extra space in your home. I do, and it makes a small space feel much bigger.
    2. You can hang your entire bed off the balcony to clean it and beat out any dirt or hair, unlike a spring/foam mattress.
    3. You have to do a burpee every time you get out of bed. So it gets your blood flowing in the early morning. (It helps with my quest to avoid caffeine)
    4. The one I bought was only $100, so when I feel that it's time for a new one, I won't feel guilty about replacing it.
I would recommend this before any other life change 100%. Take the weeb pill anons

Sounds like it would also stop me from tossing stuff on my bed to deal with later/using my bed as a bench for assorted shit.

Personally I prefer it because as you said, space
But also because I don't need a bedstand, I can just put my phone on the floor
I can also stretch out and put my arms on the floor without them hanging down the side
Also my futon is pretty thin, which I feel is probably better for my back than western super soft matresses
And ofcourse no monsters under the bed, obviously

Oh and they're also good because you can keep a spare futon in the cupboard for guests

It's the same as sleeping on a bed. Why would it be different? If you want benefits of sleeping on the floor you have to actually sleep on the floor

It's comfy but your blankets will get dusty very quickly since they're constantly touching and shifting across the floor. Less of a problem with carpet but still present.

The Japanese have limited space so the family room often doubles as the master suite with futon mats they keep folded and stored in a closet with the rest of the bedding. Comfy when you get used to them.

If you want a floor bed, invest in a decent futon/ shikibuton set or whatever. Don't just put a western mattress on the floor since it will soak up water and become moldy, disgusting. I had one for two years and it weighed 25-30lbs after the 2 year suratiom, and the moisture damaged the wood flooring.

floor mattress looks better imo. just because it's more simple and minimalist. any girl will dry up when if they see that though. and you can't leave it on the floorif you live where it's humid because you'll get mold on the bottom of the mattress. i don't have that problem at my house but alot of people do.

DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU LIVE IN AN AREA WITH BUGS

A frame will prevent them from getting into your mattress and sheets. Where I live in the Midwest there are wolf spiders in the fall, and they WILL get into your bed if you see them in other parts of your house. This has happened to me.

Floor mattresses promote mold unless you move it frequently. Theres a reason why Japanese use breathable materials like tatami and fold away their beds in the morning when they do sleep on the floor.

Would you dare take a girl home if you just had a mattress laying on the floor?

I dated a girl for two years and lived with her and forced my floor mattress lifestyle on her because I liked the way it supported my back. Eventually i got a bedframe, but only because a guy at work was making cool floating style frames with lights in them and i figured i could build one with 2x4s instead of those springy struts that commercial bedframes often use.
