Is it worth paying for for the macros?

If you're gonna pay for it use macrofactor instead

i personally dont see any benefit
i just set my calorie goal, scan every barcode i put into my mouth and thats it. well i also check how much protein im getting but i pretty much know since i have tracked and scanned everything i eat already in there

In cronometer you get the macros for free.
The only downside is, the database is smaller, so a lot of barcodes you scan you have to enter manualy. But if you eat the same stuff all the time it's only gonna be a problem for a week or a month.

    Macrofactor is far better though

Don't forget to pay the extra premium goy! We're just charging 10 mcdoubles a month so you can use the barcode scanner!

Man I'm so fricking dug into MFP but I am not paying for a fricking barcode scanner. At least stuff like loseit has actual features hidden behind premium and not basic functionality.

I’m about to hit a 1000 day streak on mfp and they pull this shit on us. The ads have been getting more intrusive and frequent too

they originally sold to under armour who tried to make it a fitness app instead of just a diet tracking app, failed to make money, and then sold it for cheap to some financial group who is just gonna price hike to squeeze any blood out before tossing the whole thing.

Hows the database? I was trying out a few calorie counters since I'm trying to switch off

        Does it have:
        >ability to copy breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks from previous days
        >ability to log a collection of foods as a meal (not a recipe)
        >easy to read macro/calorie numbers on the same page as the diet journal

if so I'm interested. Lose It is okay but imo it's missing some stuff I used frequently from MFP. Plus the subscription stuff is a huge turnoff.

          >Hows the database?
5 million items. Has a barcode scanner and a label scanner.

          >ability to copy breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks from previous days
          Yes

          >ability to log a collection of foods as a meal (not a recipe)
Maybe. I haven't used that feature. It has recipes, frequent items and something called 'custom' which may work for that

          >easy to read macro/calorie numbers on the same page as the diet journal
          Yes

Also has body-weight tracking (can pull your body-weight data from apple health), water tracking and meal alerts (tells you when to eat). Its been working well for me. I wanted something pretty basic that I could use to scan barcodes and keep track of my macros and for that purpose it has served me well. The UI is very simplistic and doesn't have all that "extra premium feature - upgrade now" bullshit.

There is a "pro upgrade" thing they offer but it doesn't seem to offer much other than a web UI and adaptive macros (macros change as you lose weight)

Carb manager is leaps and bounce better. It may sound like a keto tracker, and it may have started as that, but it can be customized for whatever your Mac or goals are and it gives everything in a very clean use your friendly format

    >charges for barcode scanning
Don't tell me to sideload the app like a fricking mong

i use this. I hardly eat anything that's comercially packaged so i have never used the barcode featured myself. In the rare ocassions I eat packaged stuff it's almost always already in the database.
It's a good basic app if you're a fat poorgay, but if you're serious about your macros and micronutrients you'll have to pay for the pro version. Since I have never used it I can't say if it's good.
