You don't need a smartwatch. I wear my mechanical chornograph in the gym.

        NTA but i have a forunner 35
very durable, only had to replace the strap once, tracks your heart and daily steps fairly accurately
only about £100 and is good for tracking sleep
takes less than 20 mins for a charge that lasts 2+ weeks
        can set alarms on it
        yada yada
very good if all you want to do is track steps, time and your heartrate

not the original poster but I have a garmin fenix 5x

expensive so you need to decide if its worth it to you, better quality than fitbit, has tons of features, custom apps for different sports. I use mine for gps hiking, swimming. friend of mine uses it to track paddleboarding

I love mine. Fitbits fine but generally shitty. They potato'd my fitbit scale because they discontinued the product. It used to do bf% and a bunch of the other metrics and now it only does weight. They have the fricking gall to suggest buying a new fitibit scale when you try to sync it using their app. frick fitbit, never again.

Apple Watch series 2 user here; I'm considering an upgrade because my current smart watch is old and can't run new apps. It's also slow which gets annoying really fast. Last but not least, it only sports 2 GB of storage for music.

So I'm considering getting an AW series 7, but its battery life is rather shit while other sport watches boast about battery life of 2 weeks or even longer. Any recommendations for a GPS tracking watch with storage for music, bluetooth and some running tracker app?

i love the AW SE (2nd gen), battery life is due to it being a "smart" watch for the whole apple ecosystem okayish, IF you disable all the non-necessary shit (~2 days, 98% battery health, 1 year in use)
i went for apple watch simply because of their accuracy of heart rate tracking, which is on par with chest straps

the series of this autist is what convinced me. If possible and rumours are correct, i would wait maybe for the apple watch SE 3rd gen

My iPhone SE (1st gen) can run only iOS 15 and as such won't pair any AW after series 7 so that's what I am looking at.

I've looked into some of the non-AW sport watches, but none of them packs the required features (GPS + heart rate monitor + bluetooth + music storage) at a comparable price point so I'll probably end up with a second-hand AW 7.

it is your decision after all
i would assume you use banking/chatting/important apps on your phone and the support of the SE first gen is ending soon, so dont bank on to hold onto your 1st gen SE for too long IMO
so i would rather update the iphone (SE 2nd or 3rd gen) for longevity purposes and grab a wearable some time later, esp. after the apple watch SE 3rd gen comes out which will lower the price point of the 2nd gen, if that is all you need
          just my 2 cents

Only really worth it for cardio sports tbh, running/bike/swimming. And even then you only really want ones which have features such as track mode and detailed workout builders for pyramid intervals etc. this basically narrows your choice to Garmin, coros, sunnto & polar. Garmin probably has the best watches and platform but tends to cost more. I used coros, the platform is great and the watch and price are great but the actual device is ugly as sin

Pretty much any generic fitness watch/band tbh they are all pretty similar when it comes to those basics, I like my Xiaomi mi band when I had it, preferred it to my more expensive Fitbit versa

If you wear it all day get an apple watch.
If you actually use it for sports get a garmin

    *pedometer/activity tracker
*can be worn around your neck
    *waterproof
*doesn't have an app, doesn't have to connect to anything

does it exist? waterproof seems to be the kicker.

Honestly asking, would you recommend the Apple Watch to someone mostly interested on tracking his sleep quality (although having signals for BPM and BO is also nice) ?

is the F91W a good gym watch?

If you wear a watch at the gym, you're 100% a DYEL. Every single one of my gym sessions have my inside a power rack. If I wore a watch to the gym, it would get broken within a week from smacking it on the metal rack as I pick up, carry, and load plates. If you were a watch to the gym, there's a 100% chance you spend the vast majority of your time on the machines or doing frickin """"dumbbell curls""" 3 times a week lmao. Yeah, youre 100% DYEL

That being said, I sport a Rolex simply to display my elevated status. When's the last time you saw a 20-something year old get out of a $70,000 car wearing a Rolie? Probably never. I'm basically a celebrity

Just get a stainless Rolex submariner. Its been the GOAT watch for over 50 years. Perfectly casual, perfect with a suit. Goes up in value, (not as much as if you invested the same money in a mutual fund, but at least it doesnt depreciate to zero like a car), is understated and elegent. Looks wealthy but not try hard. Never cringey. And you dont have to worry about getting something new in 2, 5 10 or 20 years.

What does Garmin do better than Fitbit? Wondering because my FB tracks pulse, O2, sleep, can run a ECG, and tracks my runs with VO2 max score. So what would I be getting if spend 3x on a Garmin?

Fitbit is now part of the google ecosystem. If youre ok with that and theres a device that you like then I guess fitbit is fine.
