What's the best way to lose weight? I used to be 160lbs, but I gained alot and now I'm 195lbs at 6'4". I was a long distance runner for a long time, but I became a stoner coomer and I want to change. I'm not trans btw.

    You shouldn't look anywhere near that fat at 195lbs at 6'4. That should be ideally how much you weigh at 12-15% bf with a small amount of muscle mass if you're not really into lifting, i.e. you have no muscle mass now.

      I didn't have much muscle mass to begin with. I mainly did a lot of stretching and running.

      Yeah, but I'm skinnyfat/chubby so I have to escape this mode.

      the good thing is you are still in relatively good shape and you probably have a good base from your long distance running
      160 is too light for your height, actually you are at ideal weight, could even put on some pounds
      don't worry about your weight, just eat more protein, eat whole foods (no bullshit, cut it all out, candy, soda, fast food, take out etc) and cook for yourself
      I would recommend getting a gym pass, a pull up bar in your room doorway and get back to running
      don't do it all at once, start slow, little habits, 10 push ups, 10 squats etc.
      all about building momentum and feeling good about yourself again
      you're going to make it bro, you got good genetics and a good base and the fact that you want to change is all it takes

      Thank you. Take care anon. I've lost a considerable amount of weight before, but I always took the fast approach. I went from 200 pounds to about 172 pounds when I was 20 or so. It took me only about 2 months, but, I didn't really clean my eating; I just ate a lot less and started smoking more cigarettes. I'll do the slow but sure way of losing weight this time. I'll eat whole/minimally-processed food, drink mainly water, calories of 1,500 or less per day and some cardio every so often. I'll probably start running a lot more again once I become thinner.

        I don't even think you should be eating at too much of a deficit, even if you eat just below maintenance and start working out you will lose the fat and gain muscle
        I'd say making a habit of going to the gym 3 days a week and putting in work is the best thing you can do as well as cleaning up the diet
        1500 is drastic, you will lose energy and motivation, you will feel bad, depressed, hungry, it's not sustainable
        at your height and weight you could cut at 2500 and do much better for it, remember you said slow and steady... 1500 would be a crash diet

    I fell for the “eat anything” meme when I started lifting a couple years ago and hit 215 at my peak (I am 5’11 without much muscle to start with). Bloodwork said I was borderline prediabetic which scared the shit out of me so I finally went hardcore with my diet. I was eating lots of protein but too many carbs and sweets.

    No simple carbs at all, lots of vegetables, berries, lentils/beans, chicken and fish, nuts, basically Mediterranean diet. The fear motivated me and very quickly I realized I was less hungry than when I was eating like shit (more stable blood sugar?). I was 209 April 21 and now I’m 193.

    I know I’ll plateau at some point but I can’t believe how fast the weight has been coming off. I’ve been lifting harder and doing more cardio but it’s mostly the diet change.

    I wanted to aim for 8 lbs a month weight loss until follow up bloodwork in three months. I know this is an ambitious goal but I’m already ahead. Feels good and I’m so much more mindful of what I’m eating.

      You may be right anon... Thing is, I was never a lifter, or a gym rat. When I had a gym membership, all I would do is (yeah make fun of me for it), use the treadmill and swim laps in the pool. I was always an endurance guy when it came to physical activity. I just want to get back to being really thin like I once was. I only had eggs, rice and a banana today and I've been doing good so far, I did OMAD.
