    Both phytic acid and lectins are anti-nutrients, they are plant defense chemicals. To make it harder for animals to eat the plant, so the plant survives.

    You see, phytic acid chelates or binds to other minerals like iron, zinc, manganese so you cannot absorb them.
    Some say that phytic acid has anti-oxidant properties, which are useful in addressing inflammation. I call bullshit on this one, plant antioxidants are not good for humans.
    Same with its' anti-cancer properties haha I haven't studied that shit yet so I'll just call bullshit on that too lol.
    Did you know that phytic acid is also called inositol hexaphosphate and IP6. This acid is the primary way phosphorus is stored in many plants?
    haha anyway let's continue.

    Ok so what about lectins?
    They also bind to calcium, iron, phosphorus, and zinc.
    They are a carbohydrate binding protein. They bind to carbs and slow down the digestion and absorption.
    They resist being broken down in the gut and are stable in acidic environments, so they cause damage in the lining of the gut.
    Lectins have been related to Colitis, Crohn's disease, Celiac, Sprue, and IBS.
    According to Braak's hypothesis lectins travel to the brain via the vagus nerve and cause Parkinson's disease. Scary stuff haha.

    They won't kill you quickly, but there's no point to eating beans and grains anyway so best thing to do it to avoid them.
