Athletes or heavy workers are supposed to eat mostly carbs to fuel their day. He's talking about building muscle, not sitting on your ass all day. If you are active, most of your calories should come from carbs

Anon, you do realize that if CICO is """bullshit""", then it means that you would literally never, ever, ever, ever, ever lose any weight whatsoever simply by eating at a caloric deficit, even if you completely starved yourself for an entire month. That is a 100% accurate representation of your logic.

I'm sick of seeing you morons deny the basic fundamentals of thermodynamics. Also, you can just straight up test it for yourself. Just eat at a caloric deficit of -500 calories for a few weeks, and you will see that you lost weight. It's not that fricking hard. This is basic common sense that we've known forever. Jesus Christ.

Are you moronic? CICO is basic thermodynamics. Your body has to get the energy from somewhere.

            >One gram of carbohydrate and one gram of protein have exactly the same number of calories, four. One gram of fat has nine.

You are such a fricking idiot. It is not "exactly" four or nine. The 4 kCal/g for carbs and protein and the 7 kCal/g for ethanol and 9kCal/g for lipids are estimations. What's more, the TEF is not considered in that as well. Carbohydrates have a Thermic effect of 10-15%, protein 15-25%, ethanol 25-35% and dietary fat less than 5%

Did you really biochemistry is that simple? besides the TEF considered, all foods have varying amounts of energy to some degree. Carbs can range from around 3.7-4.2 kCal/gram. It's just estimations.

Carbohyrdates have less calories pre gram than fats and they have a higher thermic effect as well. However they are not as satiating as fats. So in the end, it all balances out. Calories in calories out can't be cheated.

I personally find low fat is better because you can eat more volume of food and feel less bloated during the day while meeting calorie goals. Sure you'll feel hungry sooner after a meal, but you get to eat more.

Of course this isn't even considering the anabolic effect that carbs have on muscle growth.

Best diet in my opinions is to get your 50g of fat a day, 1g/pound of body weight of protein, and the rest full of quality carbohydrates. Keto gays hate this but it's the healthiest diet for overal health, body composition, mental focus, etc.

I hate keto and am a (weak) supporter of CICO. However you are making our side (CICO) look bad. Nobody is arguing against the law of the conservation of energy. That would be an argument of theoretical physics. Nobody is arguing against if you break down everything according to its absolute basics that the conservation of energy applies.

So stop this shit about "oh you don't believe in CICO, you don't believe in the basic laws of thermodynamics then, that means you must be moronic!!11!!!!1", smugly looking around at half the population that aren't as smart as you because they mustn't have listened in your middle school science class. That is NOT what the argument is. The idea of CICO means that the amount of calories you eat is the basic fricking metric, the idea of keto or some other non-CICO is that it's the type of calories and other shit.

Tell me you Black person, how is your body using them proteins to produce energy?
That's right you dumb c**t, it almost fricking doesn't because protein is used to build muscles, bones and other tissue! And what remains after, that isn't pissed away, is turned into carbs via gluconeogenesis!
Wow, tell me how something that is transformed into glucose has more "calories" than something that also gets turned into glucose?
Maybe because the enzymes in your body aren't a fricking combustion like how calories were measured?

In all seriousness, you should spare the entire human race and have a nice day. You're dumber than Black folk.

        You are both wrong.

The original guy is wrong knocking carbs for obesity. Excess calories are the culprit.

You are wrong as well. One gram of carbohydrate and one gram of protein have exactly the same number of calories, four. One gram of fat has nine.

Good luck and listen more than you talk.

There is no real ideal ratio, and it depends on the person.

Likely your protein intake will need to be 25%+, unless you are someone who is bulking on massive calories. Fat and carb intake is much more personally, and not all fats/carbs are the same.

In reality you should focus on these things

    >Am I getting enough Calories.
    >Am I getting enough Protein.
    >Do I have enough energy during my workout.
    >Do I have enough energy for the whole day.
    >Am I getting enough healthy fats.
    >When I eat sugar/slow carbs am I utilizing them immediately.

There is more you can always do, but these are the key starting points. Some people can eat a balance of 35% protein 50% fat 15% carbs, and feel great because they eat most of their carbs preworkout and their body just works well with high fat. Other people will feel slugish and dead. Some people may eat 30% protein 50% carbs 20% fat, and may feel good their whole workout but the rest of the day constantly be tired and have low motivation.

You have to assess how your body responds and make according changes, asking for the "ideal" as a one size fits all is unlikely to realistically get you to your goals, because your lifestyle and genetics are different from other peoples.
