    I learned how to cook and enjoy cooking.
    I got frickin tired of the same chicken breast and steamed veggies.
    So I learned different dishes from almost every culture that was basically their version of chicken and veggies.
    It also taught me to read ingredients before purchasing products(chocolate stuff for ex.)or just make my own to avoid S_0y and high-fructose corn syrup

        Sorry I just got home from work.
        So for chicken dishes
        Chicken Sharwma and veggies steamed with chicken broth, then i pour the chicken broth that steamed the veggies with to deglaze my pan or use alcohol that's laying around the house to make the sauce for my veggies or to my chicken Sharwma if I fricked up and overcooked my chicken.

        I made Italian Wedding soup yesterday that I'm about to enjoy right now.
        Airfry whole chicken, shred and get as much meat as I can from the chicken.
        Add the bones to a boiling pot with some water, whole tomatoes, standard Mirepoux(onion, celery, carrot), cook low and slow for 3-6 hours, Add chicken stock if the soup is not "chickeny" enough.
        And at the last step Add chopped kale and my shredded chicken meat I saved earlier from the airfryer.

        There's a Korean chicken soup, I don't know and can't pronounce the name but you stuff the chicken with dates, ginseng root, rice(I use brown), and couple cloves of garlic(Koreans use the whole ass garlic bulb, I can't do that) and just boil it and serve with sliced green onions.
        It's not bad.
        I love fall time, because I can replace the chicken with Turkey.

You should be able to not be hungry if you’re activity level is enough and you’re eating right. That you bring up a can of sprite immediately tells me that you are not eating right. Outrunning your fork means not getting fat from eating properly, not guzzling a gallon of soda to wash down a cake wrapped in a pizza, then walking ten minutes and declaring that you can’t outrun the fork.

    The biggest takeaways for me have been...

    1) It's not a journey, it's a lifestyle change. You start to realize that you need to workout basically every day. Even when you're sore, even when you don't want to. The people who show up at 5 AM every day aren't seen as crazy / unrealistic anymore. Every Saturday morning, you now jog around that 8.5 mile path that you used to bike around when the weather was nice.

    2) You view unhealthy people from a completely different perspective. They don't work hard. They don't try. They don't want to try. They're mentally and physically lazy. They find every excuse in the book to not improve. They just don't have the mentality needed to make it. You only want to surround yourself with other healthy people.

    3) Progress isn't linear. You're not going to get stronger AND lose weight while doing so. You have to eat big to lift big.

    4) For the love of god don't injure yourself. Not every day has to be a hero lift where you go for a PR.

    5) Avoid gym women at all costs WHILE AT THE GYM. Doesn't matter their intentions (there to exercise, or there trying land a gym rat). They will destroy your mentality. You start focusing on other things like "do I look good around this girl" instead of just focusing on doing a workout.

    6) Body dysmorphia is real. You will be SIGNIFICANTLY better than you once were, and still will look like shit. There will always be people who look better than you, lift more than you, etc. Just try to focus on yourself while there.

    7) No one cares how much weight you're lifting, how many miles you've ran / rowed / biked (or what pace it is), etc.

      Don’t push beyond then. Men will often pursue a niche in life, way into diminishing returns. Maintain your lifts where you’re at today and get better at swimming, running, judo, dancing and gymnastics. Maybe your body has become unbalanced and need more variety to be unlocked again. Your body is designed to limit how much you can exert yourself. Sure, your bicep muscle is strong enough, but the supporting structure or whatever and everything else that we don’t think about may not be ready to lift more.

I've 1000-2000kcal of beer every day for the last year or two on top of my regular meals, and within a week of stopping drinking beer my weight had returned to what it was before I started drinking, which is 76kg. It was all just retained water and the "calories" don't seem to have made any difference.

    If you took two identical twins, put them both on the same bulking plan and same resistance training schedule, except one of them took steroids on top, the one with steroids would get way bigger. How exactly can CICO explain this?

    Obviously eating junk nonstop will make you fat and fasting will make you thin, but the normal every day stuff is completely unresearched and unknown. The bomb calorimeter and its consequences have been disastrous for the human race.

Do you count calories in your beer for that matter? 1000-2000 calories is a lot of beer. It’s also a really wide range.       I don’t drink much, but when I have before it has greatly affected my appetite. I’m a hungry skelly as a default, so on days following heavy drinking I would often literally not eat anything as I was not hungry.

And if steroids work because they cause sharp hormonal changes, what if those underlying hormones are what's REALLY important for weight gain or loss?           Not necessarily looking for a gotcha, just emphasizing that it’s hard for “all else equal” to be true in reality. Usually there’s some unforeseen reason that explains it, such as having less of an appetite due to alcohol. The thin alcoholics I’ve known don’t eat much. Having said that, I haven’t known many. Most alcoholics are overweight.

          My own experience is that CICO has been true full stop. I’m able to bulk and cut at basically whatever rate I want to because I count calories. But the number changes. When I decided to go down lower than normal last summer from 214 to 185 (I’m 6’2”) I put my starting calories at 3200 a day to lose a pound a week. This was too fast and i was losing too quickly so I upped it to 3400. I went from march 1st to September 30th and by the time I got to September the number was 2500 a day to lose a pound a week. Perhaps your number (your burn rate) changed while you picked up drinking. That’s what my guess would be, but you’re right I do agree not enough is known about the human body to be making such broad claims, though I do think CICO is roughly as good advice as a fatty or skelly can get

        A pint of Kronenbourg is almost exactly 250kcal. Half the time I'd drink 4 a day, and the other half I'd drink 8 a day. They come in packs of 4 cans man, I dunno what to say. I guess you could average it to average 1500kcal if you wanted, but either way that's on top of what I normally eat. A normal day of eating for me would be:

        >Wake up at midday
        250g of bacon (I get 500g packs of cheap offcuts), a few eggs fried in a decent amount of butter.
        >Break at work
        3-4 sandwiches that were reduced in price, they're around 400kcal each off the top of my head.
        >Get home from work
        Hit the beer.

        My weight was always stuck at 76kg, then when I started drinking rose to around 84kg while taking in over 4000kcal a day based on the eating I just typed for a year and a half, then within a week of stopping drinking and changing nothing else I was back down to 76kg.

    only after doing that consistently for 1 year+ will people start to give positive feedback. it's a long investment and there are no short-term returns socially speaking along the way.
