    Just a couple of things. The most annoying one was I forgot my keyfob so I knocked on this window and a girl let me in. Then 30min in she comes up to me and asks for my full name to write it down incase she needs to report me, or explain to the gym staff why she let me in. (You're not supposed to let people in and there's a 250 dollar fine if you get caught, also pathetic) I'd been a regular for a year at that point and had seen her multiple times before

        Using the dimensions of the olympic bar, it's mass center should be at 65,5 cm from the pinning position. This means that, at 20 Kg, the momentum of the bar is 128,5 N.m. If all the weight was concentrated at 1/4 of the maximum distance of the side loads, you'd need 126 Kg of difference between the sides in order to start rotating. However, that's like, 6+ 20 Kg plates, which wouldn't occupy just 1/4 of the bar.
        Assuming then a dimensions of 7,2 cm (one I got from the internet), that would mean that 4 plates have their CG at 14,4 Cm, which leads to roughly 91 Kg needed on one side in order to tip the bar. Since 4 plates are ~80 Kg it's close to tipping, and any additional weight would contribute more to the momentum, we can add the momentum of a 5 Kg plate to see if it tips. Assuming it's a concentrated load at the tip of the 4 plates, this results in only 81 Kg needed to tip the bar - so we know that 4 normal plates + 1 5 Kg plate is the limit.
        As such, you basically shouldn't load more than 4,25 net plates on one side of the bar.
        Or just leave one plate hanging at the edge of the bar, since that makes it momentum very big.

          Disclaimer: It's 5 AM where I live and I feel like I might have made a mistake, possibly when I assumed the bar's momentum could be taken as the momentum of the concentrated mass at the center. However, I'm way too sleepy to double check, sorry. Just don't go beyond 4,25 Plates to be safe, but the real value should be slightly higher because of the mass of the bar that's in the part that holds the plates.

                I probably messed up something then, since the condition you mentioned seems to be the same I assumed. The other option is that you guys have extra thick plates, but I doubt that.
                Actually, does it tip after you've inserted the plate or does it start to tip during it? Because now that I think about it, if you're inserting the plate but not supporting it the momentum would be much greater in the instant the plate makes contact with the tip of the bar.

          Ok, I figured out all the places I messed up
          First, the bar weight isn't perfectly distributed along it's length. The edges are obviously heavier, and that affects the final result.
          Second, I thought the distance to the supports was 41,5 cm, but in the image there is an additional 3 cm that makes a huge difference because the rotation arm is around 7-14 cm.
          Third, when removing the plate, it will be supported by the edge of the bar, so unless the plate is held up it will make the bar tip much sooner.
          My math is fine, my model is shit, use the empirical 2 plates instead as the Max

          What class is mediocre at pressing, god awful at squatting, but fucking great at deadlifting and any pulling movement in general?
          I can do Romanian deadlifts for sets of 6-8 with more weight than I can 1RM squat.
          I think I pulled 4 plates for reps with conventional DL before I ever benched 4 plates.
          I can do weighted pullups with more weight for more reps than I can bench.

        something like pause benches/half-rep benches (pecs are more active at bottom of movement, more tris near top) and decline benches (less shoulders)
        assume i dont have to say this but make sure pecs have sufficient volume and fatigue isnt overshadowing their exercises

      I think I could do 40kg for a few reps at 16 as an average built teenager. Friends of similar stature could do about the same. The bigger guys could rep out at 50-60kg the first time in the gym. It's incomprehensible to me that a male that has gone through puberty cannot bench a 20kg bar.

        Personally I rip off a strip long enough to wrap around my thumb. It absorbs the moisture between your fingers and thumb during hook grip and also keeps this wet patches of skin from coming into contact and slipping on each other.
        I will say that toilet paper works way better, *way* better, but I just don't have the guts to grab tp out of the bathroom for deadlifts

    I tried to bench with just 10lbs on each side of the barbell one time and failed on my 8th rep so a cute girl had to come over and help get it off me. She was actually very sweet and seemed to be concerned for me but I was so humiliated I never went back to the gym again. I don't even know why I use this board, that one incident completely mindbroke me.

    Saw this dude a few weeks ago doing sets of quarter squats all the way up to 455. His range of motion was 6 inches at most, and the fucker was wearing knee sleeves and everything. I'm not convinced this guy could've done 225x5 ass-to-grass, he had no business having 455 on the bar.

      This is a symptom of alcohol poisoning. Physical excersice can trigger it, your heart starts racing and you start sweating, ect. Your body is actually doing things, and you should try your best to work with it instead of just ignoring it.

          Shitting before working out isnt great for you, either. It shakes your intestines up and food starts to move much more quickly. Your heart needs to work much harder during this period. Its probably better to sit down and rest for 20 or 30 minutes after a bowel movement to avoid damaging your heart, if your boss will let you lol.

    Bottle of CVS-tier body wash "generously" left in the ladies' locker room for showering.
    Herbal Essences used to smell pretty good in the 90's & early 2000's, but now that shit has the most overpowering dollar-store-detergent scent: "saccharine sweet, hyper chemical fruit smell for poor people".

        There's this kid at my gym that sits on the lat pulldown machine without even thinking about using it just to chat to his friends while they use the other machines. One time he got up and when some woman went to go and use it he literally ran back to sit on it before she could.
