I'm not saying you should get fat, but this guy is essentially bragging about abs as a spooky skeleton just like fat girls brag about their big boobs.

        IST will bite

  3. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

He's half right, with specific and anecdotal evidence presented as a blanket rule - so basically a standard ISTposter.

Bodyweight can make you 'athletic' and strong, but genetics play the biggest role in how 'aesthetic' you will be, where lifting can compensate for naturally occurring weak areas.
Weights provide more consistent results than bodyweight, and if your genetics allow for an aesthetic physique, great - but it's a moot point when those same genetics would yield even better results with weights.

  4. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

Whatever you could build using bodyweight exercises in 5 years, you could build that lifting weights in 6 months.

      Anonymous

Serious question: what does IST think of this kraft? I used to use him as workout motivation a few years back, but is this really doable natty with just calisthenics in the timeframe he claims? Or is he a blessed kraut with BGC genetics?

        Anonymous

Let's just say it is doable for YOU in that time frame. Let's just assume it is. You realise you could get bigger in half the time if you just lifted weights? Lifting weights is way more efficient. You could go closer to failure since you can vary the weights, and you can isolate different muscles, and not just muscle but different movements of the muscles.

          Anonymous

Agreed. If it's about size, lift weights.

      Anonymous

this, it's so much easier to get the right volume at the right intensity to get hypertrophy stimulus where you want it with weights as a natty. Not just less time on calendar less time working out in general.

Gaining lean mass is a progressively uphill battle over 25 so if you're starting late you have much stronger incentive to put your best foot forward which is weights. If you're 16 you got forever to frick around with this stuff and you're in your hormonal prime so might even makes gains from and women your age like skinnier guys anyway so if you lose you win. The game definitely changes as you get older though.
Cardio is gold though. There's no excuse not to do it. No amount of powerlifting can exempt you from the benefits of 70 minutes of cardio a week.

Is that his body in the picture? Looks like he has no arms and an underdeveloped chest, I would love to see his back and legs, for fun.

of course it's not it's some instragram guy

i dont care what you say, you will never get big with calisthenics, id go as far as saying neither will you get big with weighted calisthenics either.

there are 2 people who do calisthenics: teenagers (dyel, wont make it) and poors (dyel, wont make it). everyone else is in the gym pushing P

  6. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

No? If you want to be aesthetic just lift specifically to be aesthetic. If you vant a v taper, focus shoulders and lats heavy. I'm for sure not doin calisthenics (pulls up are fun tho). I have a home gym as well.

Also being lean more has to do with your diet.

Ultimately if you want to maximise health and the amount of young attractive women who want you inside of them (both of these things are pretty much the whole point of male fitness imo) then the body type posted by OP is ideal. Bloatloard powersharting is cope. Roidtroony bodybuilding is cope. Gym rats get defensive because they are insecure about their masculinity and think bigger/more muscle = better. It's not, at best people think damn that guys big and get on with their day. At worst you look like complete shit and make children want to cry.

Its a difficult pill to swallow that growing your hair long and getting a defined somewhat muscular twink body will get you more pussy and takes way less effort than bodybuilding and powersharting.

      Anonymous

you dont just turn into a bloated powertroon overnight, the same is true for roidtrannies. for the average person the gym is the only place they will ever get close to looking good. if it was that easy to accidentally just turn 300lbs and total 1000lbs total then it wouldnt actually be a sport

        Anonymous

None of that matters. Like I said, the purpose of mens fitness should be to get healthier and look more attractive to women, powersharting and roidtroonying does neither of those, so there's no point.

          >none of that matters
no its the only thing that matters. you will not get a good body from running and calisthenics. it doesnt matter what powerlifters or bodybuilders do, normies in the gym arent going to become them without dedicated years long effort so its irrelevant

            Anonymous

define 'good body'. OPs pic is a good body as its healthy and looks attractive, and that is achievable from cardio and calisthenics easily. bigger =/= better body

  13. 11 months ago

I would say its completely dependent on your bodyweight. I used to be 118lbs throughout grade school and did gymnastics + calisthenics. I got to maybe 121lbs at heaviest. I never looked strong but I did look fit.
After hitting the gym I am now 170lbs. Muscles are significantly bigger and do normal things like move furniture without much struggle.

yes, bodybuilders look like fricking chuds and every calisthenics bodyweightbro looks like some Greek statue
Calisthenics keeps you lean in order to be good at it, is mostly high rep so burns more calories and builds endurance, makes you more agile, and let's you move with greater ease.
Nobody gives a god damn if you hit a 4 plate diddy, but if you can do a headstand or planche everyone will respect it

you have to keep in mind normies don't know shit, so why they see some bodyweightbro bust out 20+ pullups they think he's superman
ideally you do calisthenics/weighted calisthenics for upper body and running/weight lifting for lower body
but alone calisthenics is more beneficial and will build a more beautiful body while also making you insanely strong

His advice is wrong for most people. Bodyweight exercise people have to figure out how to progress and end up trying stupid shit like 1000 pushups per day. With lifting weights you can add reps or eventually simply add more weight. Adding reps is great, but it feels like more of a milestone when you increase the weight and that keeps people motivated. Also, runners always get foot injuries and then they can't do shit, get depressed and then get fat because of it.

According to Bruce Lee, Bruce lee was smashing protein shakes and destroying his joints in the gym

      Training: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHc4086gn9M
      Food: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bphOgC1gM7A

I have his book because I was a martial arts weeb, he mostly talks about using weight roughly in the 10 rep range with very controlled movements and do a ton of isometrics training on top, additionally cardio. For food he says to use a very high-protein diet and use protein shakes (for him: whey+raw egg+milk).

Do whatever resistance training you want and eat a low calorie/high protein diet and you will get a body like that.

My brother had a friend of his helping him on a kitchen tiling project. He had some fancy commercial oven that weighs 400lbs and he tried to get his friend with weakling twink physique to move the thing. Impossible.Did not budge. He called me and asked me to come over. We picked it right up and carried it across the room. Aerobics and body weight exercises are nice if you're a useless little girl who never does anything that actually requires strength or power.

  23. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

I agree that leanness is most attractive. But you can lift weights and still be lean. There’s nothing inherently wrong with lifting weights. Just stay lean.

  24. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

If you train strictly for being aesthetic you’re either a gay or use it as a cope for getting no pussy. Sorry I dont make the rules.
Rather be at around 15% bodyfat enjoying life. Have the capacity to actually use the body for sports other than soccer or some gay shit like that.
Not saying to be a fat frick either just to be strong, theres a sweet spot and both extremes have more negatives than positives

  25. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

yeah he's basically correct, if your only goal is to look good, then all you need to do is do any physical exercize at least 4x a week, ans eat clean/get lean
lifting weights is necessary to gain mass and power, not to meet the minimal requirements of being aesthetic

  26. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

Hes basically right, but the way he brushed over isolating muscles is kinda misleading. You dont need to use weights to be aesthetic, but you WILL need to do that if you want to see results that you will ultimately be happy with. Even if youre just looking to be an ottermode frickboi, youll wanna at least do curls and benches to maximize the contrast between your lean washboard swimmers abs and your broad shoulders and bulging biceps. None of its necessary, but you're cheating yourself if you dont.

  27. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

Majority of people who start lifting or bodyweight will never look super good, it requires hard training, diet and lifestyle change if you're typical fast food eating sedentary office drone.

If you 100% focused on your training and recovery it doesnt matter much as long as you progress steadily and push yourself.

In fact splitting bodyweight onlyweights only is pretty moronic, you can mix both in a way that satisfactory for you.

    >Bodyweight exercises are much better to get lean and aesthetic physique.
They force you into a higher rep range for most movements which is the only benefit I can imagine. Weightlifting with a comparable program is no different.
    >Running 30 min a day for 3-5 days a week is a great way to stay lean etc.
Yes. If you have no other specific fitness goals, ideally you should aim for 2.5h of LISS cardio and 30minutes of highet intensity cardio a week. Your heart needs exercise and burning extra calories makes it easier to maintain low BF. Any form of prolonged cardio will do, but running is the most accessible.

    >The rest
Dunno if it's meant seriously, but the calisthenicgay vs powershitter shitflinging is just boring to me. Everybody knows what a good looking body looks like, what a strong body can do. You can bulk up for a time, but hardly anyone likes being "too fat". Don't undervalue stretching as well, all this movement is taxing.

    Time to go rooning myself.
