Low-tier bait, it is universally understood that roiders rip their shit way more often than natties.

What even causes this and how does DB bench stop it?
DBs would let you get even lower and stretch even further

Roids. DB bench doesn't stop it, it happened because Thor hopped back on roids and progressed recklessly. Tendons couldn't keep up with his massive strength regain. This is a very well-understood phenomenon.

its hard to explain, try an alternate back and fort and see the physical difference if you have dbs and a barbell in your home,
its easy to feel the difference.. possibly easier to "get it" if you close your eyes and just focus on trying to understand where
the pressure feels the most awkward to you

almost all pec tears is caused by barbell benchpress

dumbell is both safer and is more efficient at building good pecs,
barbell benching is so overhyped and only powershitters is to blame for it

can you even imagine how many years it took to finally put in regulations in competitions

            >barbell benching is so overhyped
it's underhyped really becasue it's utter fricking garbage, nobody should "bench", even powershitters don't "bench" the way average gym-user imagines benching - they know better, due to unavoidable shoulder impingement u can't push through whole range of motion from bottom to lockout, your palms are locked on the bar in wrong position
if one used swiss bar close grip maybe, but who's got swiss bar or who's even gonna bother when there are dumbells?

it's cool that he ripped it, that's universe right there straightening things up, fricker had it a little too easy - grandpa, u're done, u're spent, u're NEVER coming back on top, should have retired after 501 and become an legend, fuel for endless speculation (but prime THOR could have done this and that no?"), now u're yet another clown that can't let go

And thor is a moron on another level. He doesn't even use leg drive when benching. So all that shit to bench more and not to learn a proper technique that allows to bench more.

        >DBs would let you get even lower and stretch even further
not being in a fixed bar lets you move your shoulders and arms more freely, but a torn pec has more to do with roids and going past what your body can actually handly

        Anonymous

The actual answer is roids. Thor was in the middle of his comeback to powerlifting from boxing which is an extremely different sport and form of training so he lost a lot of his muscle mass and strength, he didn't want to spend years training again so of course he would use peds, gear, whatever.
Being on roids makes your muscles grow and recover much faster than your tendons, connective tissues and ligaments would naturally so you can progress too fast and then go to snap city on a reckless ego lift like this. You see it happen all the time.

He went from benching like 180kg in December to 250kg now, absolutely insane rate of strength gain. in hindsight 1 year was probably a bit ambitious to chase the record.

thats not really that crazy considering he has hit on fhe 250s before. it is much easier to regain what was lost like that then build to a new pr

Better elbow position and less load. Alos, you can totally snap your shit while natty. These people telling you this are all first year lifters.

Pretty sure the best way to stop it is to not max out, ever.

        >DBs would let you get even lower and stretch even further
if he stretched it in the first place it wouldn't happen - lie face on the floor, arm bone perpendicular to torso, forearm perrpendicular to arm, push shoulder into ground and gently roll torso away from said shoulder (you roll on the locked arm)

casual bencher! try it and become full human! with full range of motion! you'll be able to scratch your back anywhere one day if u're persistent

Am I actually cringe for doing close grip bench?

      Anonymous

no, u're an moron - benching is useless/harmful precisely because of how your hands lock on bar, then that failure is transfered through various joints, muscles and ligaments up to shoulders where those pesky ropes get pinched and tangled as your bemused body tries to perform impossible act

that's the reason there are so many cases of letting the bar go on the way up - their bodies are trying to save them from their own moronation

haha - u don't give up do ya bot, u rlly don't like when i utter this simple truth bot - bench is moronic, nobody should "bench", even world class "benchers"

no, your logic doesn't work bot, just because u found probable rumored other cause of this accident
          >he got too lean to bench, poor tendons blah blah, can't be skinny and strong
he was bloating alright, he didn't look like the right cardiobunny times

so you lied and bench is moroniced, useless movement, harmful movement - you can't go from stable push to lockout without shifting scapulae and shoulders, impingement and misalignment of tendons is necessary to complete one full rep of bench

            >impingement and misalignment of tendons is necessary to complete one full rep of bench
that's why most of you benching reps don't do full rom, it's not because otherwise u'll do less reps (that too but mostly because front delt will die first xD) it's your body trying to not rip itself apart - ur joints are smarterer than u, always
