When did starving become fasting?

All of a sudden people are talking about “fasting” as a way to lose weight, like somehow depriving yourself of food for days on end isn’t an eating disorder lol. When did this happen, I didn’t even notice.

It happened when it was discovered it wasn't bad for you and could even be beneficial so it go rebranded as fasting instead of starvation.

Crash dieting just finds a way, because people are very impatient. Also I swear zoomers like to LARP as Christians or Muslims so there is so appeal to saying you went on a fast [for spiritual reasons].

      Frick off, heathen.

There is a resurgence of faith in the younger generations, and there's not a thing you can do about it, you disgusting degenerate. Your kind is the anomaly, and you will be wiped off the face of Gods green Earth.

Not sure if they truly believe in that or just phariseeing about because I find it hard to consider zoomers as actual competent thinkers before 26 or so
        >t. Orthodox chad that fears God

The thing is, even if they just mouth platitudes in their early 20s, say Christ is King to own the libs and gays, even if they don't REALLY mean it, it'll set their minds on the proper path by the time they're 30, and ready for real faith. So it is all to the good.

        >There is a resurgence of faith in the newer generations
is this really the case, most surveys say zoomers are mostly not into religion. I would say a good majority of people who still post here are r/the_donald transplants which was largely older leaning.

Pretty sure starving is when you haven't got shit to eat and fasting is when you voluntarily choose not to
Semantics all the way through but ultimately kinda the same

Do people really think fasting is a new word for this? Where do you think “breakfast” comes from?

Fasting =/= starving. And it's been a thing for at least 2500 years and probably much longer.
