Long distance cardio is all mind
Guarantee you can do at least 20 minutes just don't be a pussy and quit when you are tired at 8.5
After you get past the 30 min wall, you will never feel tired

          Anonymous

8.5 as in it's spread over 30 minutes lol. I do 4, walk for 6, then do 2.5, walk for 7.5, then do 2. I know I suck but I've been trying to add on 30 seconds every few days.

Just do 10 minutes straight then 20 then 30 then add 5's
Quit being a vag you are going to have to push yourself or you aren't going to improve

Dude I finish every cardio session with a soaked shirt dripping sweat. I'm really trying not to be a pussy here but I think I need to build my way up to running 10 straight.

stop running (or only running) and start doing versaclimber, stairmaster or jumprope
regardless of the type, doing 1-2 hours every single day for a month usually tricks me into loving it if I've stopped for a while. feel like shit if i skip a couple days. it helps to get into it more if you are very angry and listen to metal, not some pussy rap garbage

Yeah you're meant to sweat when you run you fat frick. That doesn't mean you stop. Listen - here's what you do. Jump on the treadmill and set it at a speed where you can go for 20 minutes. Even if it's a light jog. Don't fricking walk for any of it. Just light jog for 20 minutes. Manage that OK? Great - next time, do the same thing, but put the speed up just a little bit. And again, and again. It's literally no different to weightlifting - start by doing what you can do, and when you succeed at that, make it a little harder next time. It's the only way to grow. You sound like a massive pussy but even you can do this OP. Just quit whinging and get back to work.

Like anything hard it helps tremendously if you actively want to do it

This, cardio is very mental, it's simple movements that stress and fatigue you for long periods of time, if you start by focusing on pain rather than gain you'll be unable to enjoy into the gains zone.

Be sure you have incline set to 0, very easy to mistake 1 for 0 and it adds a lot more exhaustion than you'd think. What speed are you using?

What I want to know is how the frick do the people on the stair machine for 30+ minutes do it? Saw a woman at the gym do over 5k stairs the other day, and she was fat too. I wonder how fat she was when she started.

    >Added 2,5 minutes every second day until I could do it for an hour
The cardio gains are so fricking good. I’m down to doing it 30 minutes every day instead now, as an hour takes too much of my time, but then I wear a 10-15kg backpack every second day for some resistance training.

Idk. Few months maybe. Literally just run slower. I’ve been running for years and still don’t really enjoy it, but I don’t mind doing it and feel like a lazy frick when I don’t. Stop caring about how far or how fast you go… just make it a habit and the rest will come with time.

he's right. a true 8 minute mile guy running an all out 8 minute mile is going to hurt. A 4 minute mile guy running a 4 minute mile is going to hurt. The only way it stops hurting is if you're going slow relative to your fitness level. Even people training to get better at running do most of their miles at this pace. If you don't care about that just get to a reasonable fitness level where you can jog comfortably. Then you can just jog and probably never improve at running but never have to hurt either. You still get the benefits of keeping healthy and thin.

    > Do lower intensity most of the time, you actually get more benefit from this anyway and it's much more comfortable.
    > Don't just run on a treadmill, look on a map and find cool places in your town/area to explore by running or cycling.
    > Get some good shoes so you don't mash your joints up

Then why there’s so many fitizens in those thread

Because most fitizens are 300lb fatties who don't leave their basements and LARP here aspirationally.

if you are 200+ pounds running will always suck. If you are less than 200 pounds it takes like 2 months to get into shape.
when i was a skinny 17 year old it was much more pleasant and i could also outpace everybody so it felt good for the ego too. With each summer since it has gotten harder to get into running because ive gotten bigger every year.

Find a speed where you can stay under 70% of your max heart rate and you can run almost forever. After the first couple miles you get in a rhythm and it stops sucking and starts getting boring. After that it just comes down to how long you can be bored.

I'm a lanklet with long legs and found that the jog became less of a slog the more I took longer and longer strides. Now I run like a fricking giraffe and my friends say I look like I'm running in slow motion because I'm taking fewer strides but I'm moving faster because they're clearing so much space. I swear it actually helps with endurance more than pumping your legs fast as you can. Instead I'm almost taking leaping strides leg to leg and you really fly. Would recc to anyone really don't think you have to be a lanklet to do this but it is most comfortable probably if you got long legs.

Just don’t do continuous lame ass slow running for cardio as it gets monotonous even if you’re fit and pushing good times.

Just do sprinters cardio and do slow 400/800m repeats many times with running pause in between (ie. 400mx8 for 45sec or more if you’re that unfit, 30-60sec pause). Remember to not push it too much or it will quickly become lactose tolerance training.
All in all you’re done in 15min with this training and it’s infinitively better than running 5km+ to get basal cardio.

Find something that‘s actually fun, try different things. If you’re not into running, try cycling or rowing. If you’re not into that, try hanging yourself with an industrial belt.

It doesn't; I've never gotten a runners high, I think that's people just deluding themselves into thinking it's happening, like giving a teenager a joint full of oregano or a non-alcoholic beer. You just gotta keep moving forward OP, when you stop, that's when you've failed.

Running fricking sucks period. Cycling is pretty cool though, I don't feel like a depressive sack of shit if I ride my bike regularly.
