        The point is that whenever this board spouts the "Just get lean bro!" shit, it's always disingenuous. It's always presented as the ultimate fix to everyone's body - just get lean and you'll look good.
        But they always leave out the part about how much it actually takes to get to cultivate the lean mass weight necessary to look good when you're lean.

        You're not just gonna cut and then be 170-185 lean. For the average person of average height to achieve that, like to be 170 at legitimate 8% bodyfat for example at 5'10", you'll need to have trained your fricking ass off for a while and be legitimately advanced level strength to be able to hold that muscle mass at that body composition naturally, and the majority of people won't even ever reach that.

        This 'Just get lean bro' shit is usually coupled with the "squats and deadlifts suck, muh powerlifting makes you fat" rhetoric.

        Question is - how the everloving frick do you believe youll have built enough muscle to be 175-185 at 8% bodyfat without being strong and built all around? You'll be lucky to be 135 at 8%

            This, frick Rippetoe trying to promote powerlifting for bodybuilders and so on, are there good principles in powerlifting? Hell yes, do they mesh with bodybuilding? Sometimes (progressive overload, proper technique) but to claim 5x5 + bulking is everything is false to Bodybuilding which requires more volume training even a 8x8 training method would be better than a 5x5 to build muscle and strength for the average joe who doesn't want to compete in powerlifting.

            He literally calls the front muscles "show muscles" like a moron lol. Never seen him do a bent press. That's no show muscle, that's functional pressing strength and coordination in ONE lift.

                If you wanted to get huge with just compounds, sumo DDLs, Upright Rows, Push Presses and Cheat Curls would be the best bet with enough dedicated work between each of them, you would maybe need to add something like a bulgarian split squat for legs if yours were hard to grow and cable flies for chest work.

                That is what you do. I am yet to see a single person that's both big and strong and not obviously just sauced up to the gills that also isn't strong as frick in every basic compound lift. A squat, a DL/RDL/hinge, a horizontal pull, a vertical pull and a horizontal plus vertical press. All good variations transfer to each other anyway so it doesn't really matter which ones you pick outside of specificity for peaking in a competition lift. Get strong at them while also spamming them for volume, also spam volume on arms/delt isolations because why not the recovery cost is negligible. Be in a caloric surplus on mostly quality foods, don't get too fricking fat, cut down when you feel too fat.

                I've only ran different iterations of U/L and full body. Right now
                >Mon
                Squat, OHP, Incline DB, Pull-ups, Tri's
                >Wed
                DL, Bent over rows, Close grip bench, Face pulls, Bi's
                >Fri
                OHP, Squat, Incline DB, Lateral raises, Tri's
                >Sat
                RDL, Bent over row, Pull-ups or Pull-down, Facepulls, Bi's.

                This is very obviously a standard strength split only with OHP in stead of bench as the main upper body lift. Closest thing to a bro split I've done is Arms+Delts/Legs/Chest+Back, which is actually just an upper/lower split kek.
                What I am doing now is essentially a 4-day PPL with squats on push day and a cheeky close grip bench on the pull day in the middle.
