WHM Scam ?

Is the WHM a scam ? I mean it seems obvious to me that the immune system does not fight bacteria with inflamation while beeing suffocated

Not really a scam, but not ultra-super beneficial either. More or less just rich white people shit.

Exposure to the cold, any cold really, does have its benefits - increases mental fortitude at the VERY least.

I don't use heat in my house during the winter even if it's below freezing and that's my cold therapy. Makes me much more resilient to the cold and I sleep quite well when I have a few blankets

My sister swears by his breathing technique and she is a sports scientist who built a multi million dollar business off increasing professional athletes abilities by incremental amounts through genetic testing and life style control. She has worked with many international teams and gold medal medallists from all over the place.

She's also antivax as frick. I believe everything she says therefore yes he is right. If you're too pussy to do some breathing you will NEVER make it.

This. I whm is great for me. It's very very strange why someone who has no intention of ever doing it makes multiple threads concern trolling and trying to down talk it. Why would someone do that? What kimlnd of annoying fudge packer thinks they want, no, need to convince other people not to do it?

He claims that you get a super charged immune system and almost never get ill again. He has done with an university where he teached 20 people his technique. They all got injected with an deactivated flu virus and no one showed inflamation. The control group did by the way

Reducing inflammation and not being sicm are two different things.

Your body uses inflammation to supress viruses and bacteria when you are sick. Why you would want to stop inflammation is beyond me.

If you're constantly inflamed, then your body/diet is shit

I actually went to one of his seminars and met him in person. I don't think it's a scam at all. In fact I wish I adhered to his methods more often. I think there are obvious health benefits it's just everything is annoying to do. I think where people get confused though is the WHM is really two things and he tries to link them in a weird way and that's the part that I think sets off peoples fraud alarms.

The first part is cold exposure therapy. Again I think this is totally legit. Eskimos have really high amounts of brown fat deposits. Wim Hof himself has been studied pretty intensely by actual scientists and they all confirm he has extremely elevated levels of brown fat just like eskimos do. It's undeniable that if you expose your body constantly to extreme temperatures it changes you physiologically.

The second part is deep breathing exercises. His argument here is multi part: 1) there's less oxygen in the air than there used to be and 2) modern humans are shallow breathers. As a result of these two things he thinks people today aren't getting enough oxygen into their blood stream. We know what happens when people get deprived of oxygen. People who have suffocated for too long before being revitalized suffer brain death and become vegetables. He basically thinks everyone is slowly suffocating themselves tiny amounts every day and it's weakening us overall.

Where he tries to link the two is he explains when you swim in ultra cold water you start breathing really heavily and deeply, it's a natural response to extreme cold. As such he thinks the inverse must be true. Because everyone sits inside in toasty warm houses all day the body naturally breathes in a much more shallow fashion.

So ultimately the only stuff he's really advocating for is that people expose themselves to the cold more often (ideally regular swims in cold bodies of water but more realistically for city dwellers, regular cold showers) and that people do regular deep breathing exercises when you wake up and before you go to bed.

I actually did the breathing exercise with him and about 200 other people in an auditorium. There is some really weird stuff going on with our bodies that we don't really know a lot about. Doing the breathing exercises on my own the longest I could hold my breath for was a couple of minutes. When I did it with Wim Hof and he was really pushing us to keep going and it reached a point where everyone was holding their breath for close to 10 minutes by the end. Honestly one of the strangest experiences of my life.

As for whether the combination of cold exposure and deep breathing can boost your immune system I'm not really sure. One thing that is really fricking weird though is he did an experiment under medical and scientific observation where he had 20 people get injected with a fake virus. I can't remember the exact name but when you get injected with it your body reacts as if it's the flu. You get shivers, chills, vomiting, headaches, etc. but after 4 hours or something the body realizes it's not a real virus and you're fine. They use it to test the efficacy of things like cough medicine or whatever. Anyway there was 10 people who were untrained and got injected and 10 people Wim Hof personally trained for a month in advance. All 10 of the untrained people got sick from the injection, none of the people he trained got sick. I think he's onto some science we haven't found an explanation for yet. Maybe some sort of connection between brown fat and the immune system or oxygen levels and the immune system.

Like I said at the start of these posts I wish I followed his recommendations more regularly but frankly FRICK cold showers and frick doing 10 minutes of breathing every morning and night. Now that I've written all this stuff out I feel like I should get back to doing it again. I honestly believe him more than I would most people.

People at the seminar would ask him for advice on a million other things from diet to spirituality etc. and he was really good about staying neutral / refusing to give advice. He basically was like I'm just going to talk about / promote the things I know work and nothing else. Any other type of fake guru would jump at the chance to basically give their opinion on everything under the sun. That's why I feel he's pretty legit.

That has to do with contracting your core muscles super hard and fast to generate heat.

the spiritual stuff is moronic. But cold/heat exposure is probably legit, Finns are the happiest people on earth according to surveys anyway, and what does every finn do every single day? Wade through snow up to the neck and then sauna when they get home

Our suicide rates are the highest amongst the nordics, that's why and they were only asked in the Turku/Helsinki area which is the most wealthy and happy area for the rich and the leftie pets.
