Sometimes I put on headphones without music just to block out the shit-tier EDM they play at my gym.

Me. I don't like music. Gives me a headache. Don't get why everyone listens to it all the time. Would drive me mad.

I hate trying to find music I'm actually in the mood for while also trying to focus on lifting. Id rather just stare into the void in between sets

    Me.
I don't give a frick. There's a fricking zumba class when i lift in my gym, thank God. It makes zoomer change their schedules and the gym get empty.

I lift un a pure white room that has been sound proofed with a small mic and speaker system that echos every sound I make to simulate the hypertrophy time chamber.

i listen to JRE podcast tbh. Since a long time ago i stopped listening to music when working out and it was because Goggins said it was cheating. Cant believe i listened to Goggins but it was a nice advice, i focus more.

Plus, if I take my earphones out, I have to listen to whatever black garbage theyre blasting I'm the gym.
I do sometimes choose storm or ocean sounds though.

May be a weird reason but I feel I have less control over my breathing with headphones and music, it fricks with my head.

I love listening to music so no, I won't stop.
Helps me not listen to random shit other people might be saying too.

I prefer speakers so I can hear the plates and not have sweaty ears.

For me it's so strange. People wearing headphones or earbuds in public used to stand out as weirdos that needed to isolate themselves from their surroundings. As late as 2016 people were still getting roasted for wearing airpods outside because of how much they stood out. Now it's like people glue them in and can't take them off for anything.

I sometimes go for runs without music and surprise myself with how I perform. Running a race without music can be fine since you're just focused on passing people and keeping pace with someone at the same skill level as you, but solo maintenance runs without music end up being slower than normal (which can actually be a good thing since you're more relaxed and can get more mileage in)
if you're in a gym, going with headphones depends entirely on what music the gym is playing and if you want to block it out or not

I can't wear headphones when running, but lifting I prefer my own music to the shitty music they play in the globogym. Plus it helps me ignore people.

I have never really gotten into music. I just listen to some rap songs because I like the beats

I end up taking mine off because I get a headache halfway through my workout then it just became a habit. What I actually crave is silence. I want some fricking SILENCE not just constant ambient noises from TVs and smoothbrains playing rap music in their apartment like their life is a movie.
