Arthur Jones since his approach to exercise was innovative. For example, he noted that it's impossible to work the lats hard without the arms and grip fatiguing. This was solved by his invention of the pullover machine.

Miyamoto Musashi, Marcus Aurelius or maybe Yukio Mishima.

    >Socrates, Plato, Aristotle

Socrates believed in fitness but was himself described as pot-bellied. There's no evidence that Plato or Aristotle were particularly fit.

Socrates was 71 at the time of his death so he gets a pass. Plato is a nickname meaning wide (either attributed to a wide back, shoulders, chest or forehead) that stuck with him. Two separate contemporary sources mention him as well known wrestler, one mentions the Isthmian games and the other mentions the Pythian games. I don't remember the specific part but I think that Aristotle also talks about fitness in his Nicomachean Ehics work.

Didn’t Plato get his name when he was a wrestler because he had wide shoulders?
