they aren't, the way you train makes no difference you will more or less look the same regardless of what you do, what exercises you do for it, or whether you're doing higher lower or medium reps with lower medium or heavier weights.

the only thing that matters is hitting every muscle group + progressive overload, how you do it or why doesn't matter at all.

Word. It's always weak people buying into some daft cult that overly care about muh oooptimisation.

does this mean I can do a hundred reps in a set with 5kg dumbbells and still gain muscle? I am a cheapskate and don't want to buy more equipment thank you

Sure but why waste your time with a brosplit training one muscle group a week when you can train each muscle group more than once a week and get faster results?

Anything will work for you as a beginner, but training a body part once a week is suboptimal because you're recovered and ready to receive new stimulus after 48 hours in most cases.

Do a brosplit if you like and you'll make progress but you're not going to grow as much as you could.

unless you're purely doing isolation it's pretty much impossible to not hit some muscle groups several times a week, it's not really a valid concern.

Don't forget junk volume. More than 10 sets per muscle group per session is suboptimal. Doing 10 sets per muscle group 2 times a week will in the long run grant more gains than doing 20 in s single day per week

Because if you roid you can do 4 hour brosplit and get sick results, the average beginner will just make suboptimal progress with a brosplit. Also they don’t really work for strength, only hypertrophy.

    They aren't bad, they're inefficient.

Training muscles once a week doesn't allow for enough volume and intensity.

Some IFBB pros can manage due to the huge amount of roids and the fact that they train twice a day six days a week, but realistically speaking a normal person will train 3-5 days a week and won't be roiding, which means they'll do something like

    >chest-bis
    >legs-shoulders
    >back-tris

    So you'll be doing what?

    8-12x4 bench
    8-12x3 incline dumbbell press
    8-15x3 cable cross
    8-15x3 dumbbell flys

That's like 12-15 sets a week compared to the ideal 21-27 you'd want for maximum hypertrophy. Same goes for every other muscle more or less.

      This

People's idea of how to train are based on professional bodybuilders, who use every drug under the sun to give themselves advantages that a natural person would not have, such as reduced recovery time.

Even people using TRT have a large advantage over someone natural, and their test isn't fluctuating on an hourly/daily basis, it's kept stable.

And then people feel pressured to imitate that because that's how the winners do it. It's a joke of a "sport".

        >reduced recovery time
Wouldnt that mean that roiders should train a muscle more often than nattys?

They're not bad, you're just leaving gains on the table. Depending in intensity of your training, a muscle group takes 2-3 days to recover, and then you can hit it again.

If you do a brosplit and have a common 3 day per week workout, something like:

    Mon - chest and tri
    Wed - back and biceps
    Fri - legs and core

Your chest and tri will have recovered by Wednesday or Thursday, and now left unstimulated for 3 days where you missed out on gains.

In my opinion (plus research papers) if you can't commit more time to the gym you're better off doing some full body program where you hit all muscles in the best interval.

So if it's just a matter of the time between training sessions why not do something like this?
      Mon - chest and tri
      Tue - back and biceps
      Wed - legs and core
      Thu - chest and tri
      Fri - back and biceps
      Sat - legs and core

If you want to commit to 6 day a week plan, sure. You could also do PPL at that point, which is a nice program.

They aren't. It's just online muh science homosexualry. I think a lot of it comes from frickheads needing new programs to sell.

Bodybuilders are doing a colossal volume of work and drugs. Not what you should care about.

You should be hitting your muscles 2x+ per week. If you can do this while bro_splitting, then it's not a bro-split. If you're working chest 1x per week you're probably recovered by day 3-4 and spinning your wheels.

1 They're incredibly inefficient and not a good use of your time
2 You need to hit each muscle area 3 times a week for effective growth. There aren't enough days in the week to split your body up into sections and work one at a time while having at least 1 rest day in between
